TitleBulk uplift/recycling situation is ridiculous?

Some years back, living in a tenement I had to dump some mattresses, TVs, a desk, PC, chairs, clothes horses. Asked my landlord and they said just leave it in courtyard next to bins and council will take it for free. Everybody else seemed to do the same. In my tenement now everybody keeps just leaving bulky stuff in the courtyard.

I'm moving into a house so I rechecked and apparently bulk uplift is not free since last year...

I don't drive. I'm far from recycling center. My possessions are too shit to "sell on Gumtree" and I lack friends who love garbage. Council only other suggestion is pay for bulk uplift.

35 quid for 10 standard items. Unfortunately my items don't break down in sets of 10. So in effect 35 quid per item.

35 for my 8 year old microwave I got for 17.50.
35 for my 6 year office chair I got for 45.
35 for my 15 quid ironing board.
35 for my 90 quid second hand tv
35 for my 60 quid cheapo single mattress
35 FOR MY 35 hoover

ARE THEY INSANE???? Throwing out my microwave gonna cost 2x it's brand new price??? So basically the choice is illegal dumping or have no new microwave? Save the environment, fuck the poor?

I spent 2 hours reading idiotic tips on recycling when we all know majority of recycling will go straight to the tip because recycling it is way too ineffective and labour intensive....

Absolute joke...what is the point of saving the earth if I can't afford to live on it???
