TitleCouncil Tax Enquiry

Just had a letter pop through the door regarding an enquiry I made about a possible council tax reduction by email. 8 printed pages of figures and decipherable gibberish to draw the conclusion that no, I wouldn't get one. Which is fine. However, this is on top of similar correspondence I received at least 6 times last year due to fluctuating income, each time giving page after page of breakdown recalculating what I was due to pay, which did result in some reduction.

Which begs the question, given I have access to my statements/payments etc online, WHY are they printing and posting this, and why is it so baffling? Has anyone else had this experience? I feel if every enquiry regarding council tax reductions results in similar documentation, and anyone else in the position I was in last year with fluctuating income, they must be wasting tonnes of paper/postage costs on something that could be communicated by email in most instances. I can even view the same info online anyway, the printouts are redundant.

I'm almost tempted to look deeper into this to find out how much is being spent on a process like this when savings could be made and reinvested or more savings provided to those who need them most, nevermind the cumulative environmental impact. Mostly I just wanted a rant though. :)
