TitleWhat is the current attitude towards people wearing masks?

First of all, apologies if this has been asked to death. I did a search and found nothing recent but it's possible I'm just not using the right search terms.

I know all COVID restrictions have been lifted, but do people generally still wear masks, particularly indoors? And if I do wear a mask even when most people don't, am I going to be stared at, or worse? (I hate to bring it up, but I happen to look Chinese, and I don't know if "Chinese Virus" is still a thing, or ever was here.)

I ask because in a couple of months I'm travelling halfway across the world to Glasgow to attend a work conference, and then to hike the West Highland Way. This trip has been postponed for 2 years and it breaks my heart to imagine I might show up in Glasgow, spend a week in an indoor conference venue trading breath particles with people from around the world, and then fall ill just as I'm about to embark on my long awaited hike.

I plan to wear a mask indoors at least just to be on the safe side, but I want to be emotionally prepared for how much social anxiety I might have to fight back.
