Body | Or if you'd prefer, just facts! I'm probably going to be doing bike tours of Glasgow (not here to plug them but not saying that won't happen down the line!) and though there's a fixed route and a crib sheet of facts/stories/points of interest, I thought I'd consult the r/glasgow mob for any facts/stats/lore that visitors to Glasgow should hear, or even curious Glasgwegians.
I quite like that "In the 19th and 20th centuries, over 30,000 ships (20% of the world’s shipping) were built along the River Clyde". I mean, that's just staggering really. 1/5 of all ships in the world, built here in Glasgow. I mean, there's gotta be MORE interesting facts, but that just stuck out of the one's that are already mentioned in the existing tour notes.
Open to any/all suggestions for this, whatever you think would be good fodder for a Glasgow tour. In exchange, I am happy to recommend Best Kebab to every single person that does the tour. I might even take them there afterwards, and just act like it's the best Glasgow has to offer, with a totally straight face.
Really looking forward to hearing the suggestions. |
