Body | This has been nagging me for a while, but why in the fuck do people in the west coast, in particular, Glasgow folk, get so fucking weird and closed off after finding out where you live - or grew up.
For example, some folk are so eager, almost desperate, to find out where you grew up: it's almost essential that this is one of the first things they might ask you, say, an office or workplace.
Sure, I get it: someone has a really exotic accent, and, of course, you want to where that individual could be from. Or, you ask what city they're from because it's also polite and helps build a conversation with the information. But nah, Glasgow / west coast people: "Ay? Area you grow up, mate?"
This is all observational and based on what I've seen for a number of years now, and it got sort of confirmed when I came back to work in a large Glasgow office after working in a few other cities and countries. |
