| Body | Has anyone replaced the BT cable in their tenement flat? In my flat, the cable comes in by the bathroom window and runs to the socket box in the hall. This seems fairly standard, places I’ve lived in before have had similar.
While it still works (slowly!), mine was encased in paint and ran above a false ceiling which I’ve had removed. I’ve called Openreach who told me to call my provider, who in turn told me to call Openreach. Each time I’ve called, I’ve had the distinct impression the persons I’ve spoken with haven’t had a clue what I mean!
I’d like a new cable to be fitted as this one has signs of damage and I’d like it fitted and tidied away into my renovations.
Anyone had any experience of this? I reckon I can do it myself, but note from Googling that the cable and box are BT’s property and that I could short the exchange, so would rather get someone experienced in!
