Glutton for punishment here, posting another positive experience, no doubt i'll be branded a "cunt" from Bearsden, or worse, Bishopbriggs (which is actually true) but here goes ....

Had a pal over from Ireland for the last week, he'd been on about going to "the Highlands" but I don't drive and due to a combination of factors and changing weather, we hadn't gone out of Glasgow and Edinburgh (but managed to fit in a ceilidh, wakeboarding, 5 Fringe shows, a gig, the Barras, a bike tour etc etc) he then had to book a flight a few days earlier and I had to think up a scenic jaunt, so we ended up catching the X85 to Campsie Glen. Walked up to the falls for a dip/swim and had the place to ourselves at the one nearest the car park/viewpoint, sun shining. Then wandered back down for a nosey round the German convent. Views/scenery/wildlife etc all stunning, aye there was some burnt out car debris and some shitty littering but overall the place looked cracking and apparently looks just like the West of Ireland. So probably no point going, nevertheless it was £11 return for 2 and you're there in no time. Highly recommed for all those folk asking for good daytrips (or in our case half a day to make it back for a gig) from town, especially if you're not driving/on a limited budget.

Anyone else done this and have anything else to recommend in the area for future visits? Had considered getting in/around the old Lennox Castle/Hospital but ran out of time, but now I've shared some pics and pals want to go sometime soon too. Saw some signs for the Thomas Muir way also, anyone done it? Seems like it could be a nice easy walk on a decent day. Anyone fancy doing it? :)
