Body | I've just moved to a new place and I'm with ScottishPower. I just had my account sorted and was looking for tariff options, when I was recommended a flexi fare direct debit plan till October 2023. It mentioned that only the variable costs would fluctuate but I would be basically protected from the increased price cap in October, that's why I went for it. Today I check my consumption on the smart meter and it's a marked increase from my usual consumption. Like it would cost me just 40p to use the oven and the hob for 30 minutes a few days ago, today I noticed it costed double when my the meter hit my daily budget. Checked the smart meter and it shows credit tariff of 73p per unit, which I have not seen anywhere before. This seems pretty high. I live alone in a one bed flat so my electricity consumption isn't very high.
Does this usually happen with direct debit plans? I just signed up yesterday so I still have a cooldown period to cancel the contract and move to standard variable. I thought I would save with a DD plan but it's charging me a higher rate for general consumption. |
