TitleMoving to Glasgow from Japan

Hi all,

I have been living in Japan for a good few years now but am planning to come to Glasgow for work in the near future.

Glasgow looks like a fantastic place to live but all I hear in the news lately is that the cost of electric and gas is rising to ridiculous prices. I have seen some info that puts these utilities at literally 10 times the cost of Japan per month (400GBP). This is alongside a general rise in the cost of living.

I live frugally in Japan as an English teacher but I am worried that even with that, now would be a shite time to make the move to Glasgow.

My question is: is everything as bad in reality as the media is making out?

Would a single person earning an average wage (25,000-30,000 GBP) be able to support themselves in these times?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice you can give me.
