| Body | I saw someone make a similar post and I thought I’d give it a shot despite being somewhat embarrassed to do so. I recently moved to glasgow and finished the first year of my phd. The issue is, with everything being online & generally having a small cohort size — i’ve been feeling super lonely. As it’s a new city I have no idea how to navigate into meeting new people and the thought of it feels overwhelming at times, though I know this is a common struggle for post-graduates. I’ve tried societies but a lot of them are filled with freshers, which is fine but not my crowd & I don’t have the interest in going clubbing & drinking weekly. I’m going to be here for quite a long period of time, and as I stayed home during lockdown (instead of going to university in person) to help take care of a mental illness crisis in the family, I can’t help but feel like I’ve lost so many of my “prime” years to socialise (haha) .
