TitleWould any musicians out there be interested in attending an open jam session type thing?

I'm a drummer, and have been to a few jam nights in Edinburgh over the past month or so, and had a great time. It's a proper wee rehearsal studio set up with amps, mics, a keyboard, drumkit etc. with a fridge for you to BYOB and a couch for you to sit back and watch others jam if you're tired out, or don't play anything.

One of the guys who runs it described it to me as "a work's night out for musicians" which I thought was very apt, plus it's a great opportunity to meet other musicians and hone your improv skills. If you're interested you should look them up on social media under Edinburgh Jam Group - the more the merrier.

HOWEVER

Glasgow doesn't seem to have an answer to this, and I would love to try and get one on the go, if enough people would be interested. I was thinking about speaking to the guys from my local rehearsal studio and renting out one of their rooms for the evening, but the main issue is financial, unsurprisingly.

The Edinburgh Jam Group asks attendees for a small - and optional - charitable donation, which goes back into the studio, which they own. I would presumably need to straight up charge an entry fee to cover the cost of renting the room, which would be around £50 for the evening. I have no inkling of making any kind of profit from this, again, it's purely to pay for the studio rental as I can't afford to pay for this out of pocket, especially if it was to become a regular thing.

So my question is this: would you be willing to pay ~ 5 quid to attend a casual, all skill-levels welcome, BYOB, jam night in a fully equipped studio? There's a pool table too, if that sweetens the deal. And if not, does anyone have anything else they can point me to that would scratch this particular itch?
