TitleLooking for advice, noisy neighbours

Hello, I was hoping to get some advice from you guys. Out in Airdrie my parents have lived for about 10 years now in a lovely detached house they bought to get some peace and quiet and live out their retirement. It’s set in a very quiet area that caters to retirees.

For about a month now, I believe a charity that deals with abused or mentally challenged kids has moved right next door. At the time of posting, one (I believe out of 4?) of the children has a condition where he will make howling noises. He will be out in the sun in the garden howling extremely loudly from time to time. It’s very unsettling for a couple of 70 year olds who understand the situation, that he can’t control it, but are distraught that they have to listen to excessive and honestly quite alarming noise right next to them.

I can’t believe I’m writing this as I work in the NHS, but having stayed with them for a week, I can see why they’re so upset. It’s constant, the charity brings out the kids every hour or two for fresh air and it’s very, very noisy.

My question is, is there any point in chapping their door to say keep it down? And why would a charity that deals with kids who have conditions they can’t control move into a quiet suburban area full of pensioners?

Should they just sell up and leave?

I’d appreciate your input as they’re at their wits end and I have no clue what to do. Thank you.
