  • I’ve read on Facebook people complaining about not getting confirmation until August/Sept of the course starting. I won’t be surprised if it happens to me now! Thank you by 2247938vl (Wed 18th Mar 2020 9:55am)
  • Thanks for your reply. I’ve never heard about the written work part before, is that specific in Stirling to the university nominating you or was it submitted to SSSC? I know my university said they hardly have anyone continue to that postgraduate because of the uncertainty. Reckon I’ll go for it though, if I don’t I’d always wonder. I wonder if they make it so difficult to ensure they only invest In people who will work in the field? Who knows. Thank you again! by 2247938vl (Thu 19th Mar 2020 7:03pm)
  • Went to Aldi in wishaw today. They were monitoring who was coming in / out of the shop & everyone was conscious of the social distancing staying a few metres away from each other. At Most there were 10 people in the shop. Was fully stocked but for the first time in two weeks! Couldn’t believe it. Spent 90 quid on shopping for the two of us cause we haven’t been able to get things from panic buyers by 2247938vl (Wed 25th Mar 2020 11:22pm)
  • Oh also went to Tesco & again deciding who’s in/ out the shop n people were looking to see if someone was coming down the aisle and letting them pass to keep the 2 metre distance, place was stocked too. Still no toilet paper but by 2247938vl (Wed 25th Mar 2020 11:24pm)
  • Literally only those. I picked up some tissue boxes but cause I dunno if kitchen roll would clog the toilet up & swimming in shite is not a risk I wanna take by 2247938vl (Wed 25th Mar 2020 11:55pm)
  • Thank you. That’s helped a lot, I think from the comments and yours that I’ll try and get a graduate position before I commit a masters to it by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:02am)
  • I’ve applied to tons and have considered going down that route. Took up volunteering in citizens advice, Victim support & community action groups. I’m more interested in The social work side of things. I’d love to do the postgrad in Social Work but I’m having trouble with the funding because it costs 5k and isn’t supported by SAAS. I see from the comments maybe I need to take a breather though and get some experience before I commit to any postgrad routes by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:02am)
  • Thank you. I see a lot of people have replied the same. I think I’ll apply for roles when I graduate to test the waters first. by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:00am)
  • Thank you! I don’t know anyone in the sector so I really wanted to know the realities of the work. I see from the comments I think some experience is necessary before I commit a postgrad to it! by 2247938vl (Mon 6th Jul 2020 11:59pm)
  • this one made me laugh. OK maybe some experience needed in the sector before I commit a postgraduate loan to it! by 2247938vl (Mon 6th Jul 2020 11:58pm)
  • I’m not quite sure to be honest. I’d love to work with clients one on one, I’ve volunteered in citizens advice, Victim support & in community action groups. I love the social work aspect of them. I’m having trouble progressing to the social work masters because it’s not funded by saas and the fees per year on average are 6k for a two year course. I think from the comments I’d be better trying to get some experience in the sector before I commit a masters to it I think by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:05am)
  • To be honest I would really love to do a postgrad in Social Work but I’m having trouble with the funding side of things as it’s not funded by Saas. I see from the comments that I’d be better getting a graduate job, taking a breather and trying to earn to money to pay for a postgrad in social work rather than enter a sector I’m not completely committed to. Thanks! by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:03am)
  • Thank you! could I ask what you do in housing? by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 12:37am)
  • I think that would be in the realm of what I would like to do. I Definitely consider housing a social issue, so that’s the attraction to me. Much thanks! I’ll get in touch if I have any other questions by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:32am)
  • Could I ask what the difference is for an employer? Is Real Estate masters more relevant to the career than housing studies? by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:36am)
  • Thank you. I think a lot of people have recommended the same. I think I’ll look for some entry level jobs when I graduate and get a feel for the career first before I commit to a masters by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:36am)
  • My 14 year old selfs dream career by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:34am)
  • Yes I’ve looked into the bursary & am planning to apply this year and see If I’m accepted. The issue I’ve got is the remaining fees because the bursary only covers 3400 and the cheapest university UWS is 5500... Stirling is 6k p/a. I’ve been running around in circles trying to plan for the rest! But I don’t think there’s any easy way. by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:34am)
  • After you mentioned it I had a look it into them, certainly something to consider but I think perhaps more of a commercial focus whereas I’d like to focus on social service. But thank you nevertheless, I didn’t know the degree existed! So certainly something to consider. Thank you. by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 11:45am)
  • Thank you, if I can think of any I’ll be sure to contact you. From these replies, I think I’ll try and get some experience in a graduate housing position before I commit to a postgrad degree. But you’ve all been so helpful honestly. by 2247938vl (Tue 7th Jul 2020 8:22pm)
  • no worries, thank you for the warning I’ll keep that in mind. From this post I managed to have a zoom call with a manager of a local councils housing department and he gave a lot of advice on how to enter the public sector. I really appreciate everyone’s replies, youve all been very helpful & I’ll keep note of everything by 2247938vl (Sat 11th Jul 2020 9:25pm)
  • She’s with the professionals now so that’s all you can do! Sounds like maybe an opioid overdose. Most people who overdose end up recovering if caught in time. Well done by 2247938vl (Fri 17th Jul 2020 3:19pm)
