  • Tradeston is full of places like that, the biggest being House of Sher. They have a lot of unique fruits too. I get flat peaches from there in the summer. Not in your area but worth the trip to get some of the home made samosas and you can stop got a cheap lunch in Syrian Pie in the same building. by Alah2 (Sun 13th Jan 2019 1:26pm)
  • Went to Madha recently and was pretty disappointed. Also they constantly tried to upsell us and also the price they charge for poppadoms is criminal. by Alah2 (Mon 28th Jan 2019 4:39pm)
  • What I find interesting is not a single person has suggested Himalayan Dine which recently took the number one spot on trip advisor. Always thought that was a little suss and have wanted to hear from someone in person what like it was. by Alah2 (Mon 28th Jan 2019 4:41pm)
  • Fucking wee neds. How sad do you have to be to put your shitty tag over someone else's work. Sad little cretins. by Alah2 (Fri 1st Mar 2019 6:15am)

  • What an utter cock womble you are. by Alah2 (Sat 7th Sep 2019 4:46pm)
  • Ive just moved out of there but lived there for a year. It was in one of the penthouses so maybe a better experience than others but I had no problems at all. The lower floors are a bit run down and not that well maintained. But in a year there I never saw anything dodgy going on. Majority of the flats are either students or Airbnb. That whole area is going to go up over the next few years once the Barclays development is complete. If I still lived in Glasgow I'd be super tempted to buy a flat in that building because value is sure to shoot up over the years. Tradeston will soon become the next Finnieston. Its too close to town not to get developed and as soon as some of the current developments are finished the rest of that area is gonna get snapped up. by Alah2 (Sun 10th Nov 2019 8:57am)
  • Go to Bar Bloc for lunch and get the Vladimir Poutine. by Alah2 (Fri 3rd Jan 2020 9:00am)

  • I know that as an Oyster. Never heard it as a Glasgow Oyster. by Alah2 (Mon 10th Aug 2020 5:16pm)
  • Not sure what that is a lolz, Syrian Pie is a proper cafe, been around a few years and is independent from House of Cher. Lots of malls have food places in them. by Alah2 (Sun 30th Aug 2020 9:33pm)
  • They've been doing this since long before lockdown. by Alah2 (Sun 30th Aug 2020 9:35pm)
  • It's not a cash and carry though? It's a mall with 30 odd different shops in it. There used to be a great ice cream parlour in there too. by Alah2 (Sun 30th Aug 2020 9:51pm)
  • Was curious why you were calling it a cash and carry so had a look and looks like it did use to be one but that closed down back in 2013. It's now a shopping mall with numerous shops in it. I often go to the supermarket in it as they have some decent stuff. by Alah2 (Sun 30th Aug 2020 9:58pm)
  • These rules make no sense. It says anywhere with a licence has to close. Taco Bell has one, so does it have to close while KFC next door stays open? by Alah2 (Thu 8th Oct 2020 7:12pm)
  • They are filming on Morrison Street. Outside that old office block thats been empty for years. They are filming an old orange car packed outside and two people getting out and going in to the building. by Alah2 (Tue 10th Nov 2020 1:40pm)
  • It is, sounds like it will be a good movie. by Alah2 (Tue 10th Nov 2020 2:12pm)
  • I mean they were definitely already filming. It was a scene with an orange Russian car. I noticed the clacker board thing said on it "Falling Blocks" and Director Jon S. Baird. by Alah2 (Thu 19th Nov 2020 10:45pm)
  • They were filming the Tetris movie outside my flat last month. I posted about it then. by Alah2 (Wed 9th Dec 2020 9:49pm)

  • The corn ribs sound interesting, are they just corn? Also the mention mentions shrimp? Struggling to picture what they are like. by Alah2 (Tue 22nd Dec 2020 1:23pm)
  • Thanks for that. I figured there would be a few threads asking for the best places but I am also interested in hearing about specific dishes. A lot of the places I love are because of one unique or exceptional dish so def want to hear about that. Thanks for the link tho will check through that thread. by Alah2 (Tue 22nd Dec 2020 1:26pm)
  • Depends how hungover you are haha! But yeah totally for sharing, altho the Yippon one isn't as massive as others I've seen but still more than a 'dish' haha. by Alah2 (Tue 22nd Dec 2020 1:55pm)
  • Thanks, my friend is Vegan so will suggest that to her next time we are looking. by Alah2 (Tue 22nd Dec 2020 2:33pm)
  • You're not gullible. Even if it was an official thing what this person said does not make any sense at all. by Alah2 (Fri 25th Dec 2020 8:11pm)
  • You clearly know nothing about how tax write offs work. What an idiotic statement. by Alah2 (Fri 25th Dec 2020 8:11pm)
  • The truth is a full lockdown at Xmas wouldn't have stopped many more people. So allowing limited travel possibly made people follow some sort of rules. The problem is the ones who flaunt the rules no matter what. Need to start getting stricter with fines. by Alah2 (Mon 4th Jan 2021 2:59pm)
  • Living in Glasgow I don't feel ill noticed much different. Guess it's different if you're a student or cant work from home. I assume take aways are still allowed to open. Not been able to go in to pubs or restaurants for months. by Alah2 (Mon 4th Jan 2021 3:00pm)

  • Dunno what part of the city you live in but it's not really common for me to see folk walking around with a prosecco glass especially during a lock down. But maybe there are the kind of wee bams you associate with. by Alah2 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 3:50pm)

  • I mean it's not just me that says so. It's also the law. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/housing/renting-a-home-s/starting-a-tenancy/problems-with-fees-and-deposits/ "A private landlord or letting agency might ask for a deposit before you sign a tenancy agreement. It's sometimes called 'key money' or a 'holding deposit'. If the landlord doesn't refund this deposit at the start of the tenancy or if you decide not to take the tenancy it becomes an illegal fee, also known as a premium. If the landlord suggests turning it into a tenancy deposit then you might find that acceptable." by Alah2 (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 8:15pm)
  • I mean I'm sure you feel stupid now but that was a massive red flag. The advice is NEVER buy an animal without seeing it with its mother. So it shouldn't have mattered how many answers he had, at that point you should have 100% walked away. by Alah2 (Sat 30th Jan 2021 10:56am)
  • Save the money and go to Strathclyde. Then look to get in to a company via a Graduate program. That would be the easiest way to get on a good track for a good career. by Alah2 (Sun 7th Feb 2021 10:34am)
  • How is the risk higher in a supermarket? Outdoor transmission chances are extremely low especially when moving. They increase when you're in close proximity and not moving like these idiots. by Alah2 (Sat 6th Mar 2021 4:17pm)
  • You don't tend to stand next to the random person in the veg aisle for 30 mins to 2 hours. Which these people are doing. Most were crammed in together for at least 30 mins. Some have stayed for the entire game. Some without masks. The risk is so low outdoors and because it takes prolonged contact to catch the virus. You're being ridiculous if you're trying to down play this. The worst part is they don't even win the league today. So they'll be doing this again probably in larger numbers next week. by Alah2 (Sat 6th Mar 2021 4:36pm)
  • There worst one is Frankie & Bennies which have 6 or 7 places on there. Probably the same reason why all washing powers are owned by the same two companies. Make more money by being your own competition. by Alah2 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 6:21pm)
  • Imagine ordering from Pudo, Devonly Pies, STACKS or Bird Box thinking they are new resteraunts only to find out its Frankie & Bennys. by Alah2 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 11:55pm)
  • Hahaha your workmate is at it. What a story. Five mins in to chatting his downstairs brain took over and he was sending 'her' the nudes. It's a common scam. by Alah2 (Tue 6th Apr 2021 7:55am)

  • They don't properly start until tomorrow, it goes on until the 18th. Then they are doing a couple of days next week too. by Alah2 (Wed 14th Jul 2021 6:37pm)
  • Yeah it will be, I know the streets are gonna be closed on those days so you can't walk the full length of them. If you want to walk by all the shops you might be better going on the 19th or 20th between filming. by Alah2 (Wed 14th Jul 2021 7:50pm)
  • Ive no idea if he's even filming in this scene. I only knew the dates cos my work is on that street and we got a letter through about it. by Alah2 (Thu 15th Jul 2021 12:55pm)

  • I've had the same thoughts as you for the last twenty years. Everytime I feel like that I feel like it could never get better. But when it does and I think back on the things I would have missed out on it really scares me. If you're 27 you have lived a life time and you have barely lived. You have so much left and there are so many things to experience. It might feel like there's nothing left now but that simply isn't true. I too own a cat and if anything she keeps me going. She won't be here for all of my life but I aim to be here for all of hers. The thought of just disappearing for her one day and her not knowing why haunts me. There arent going to be any words here that fix you but you've done the right thing by reaching out. Now you know you can do that continue to do that. That's the only thing that will help. Reaching out and getting support. Mental health is a disease like any other and needs help to treat. You've made lots of new friends here and and can reach out to any of us anytime via a message or meeting up for a chat. Its never too late. by Alah2 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 4:04pm)
  • Also a side note, you should join a hill walking club/group. Being that you are doing a lot of walking too. You'll meet new people and there is no better food for the soul than the great outdoors and the views from the beautiful mountains of Scotland. by Alah2 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 4:08pm)
  • You clearly didnt 😂 by Alah2 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 4:48pm)

  • Are restaurants bound by the 10pm alcohol cut off? If so I'd imagine most wouldn't stay open much later than that if a large portion of their income comes from alcohol sales. by Alah2 (Sat 31st Dec 2022 8:19am)
  • I knew that was the case for bars and nightclubs obviously. Wasn't sure about restaurants. by Alah2 (Sat 31st Dec 2022 1:34pm)
  • Do you manage to get Jarritos easy enough? I've seen it in a bunch of shops. I get a lot of random juices from House of Sher. Altho they recently stopped selling Faygo which I was sad about. by Alah2 (Sun 8th Jan 2023 10:34pm)
  • They have a lot of imported stuff and a huge juice selection. Def worth a look. by Alah2 (Sun 8th Jan 2023 10:36pm)

  • I thought you were giving yourself a review here. by Alah2 (Sat 14th Jan 2023 2:20pm)

  • What exactly about my name checks out? Can you name which southside schools are made up 99% of Asian and African pupils? Let's see you back up those "facts". by Alah2 (Wed 9th Aug 2023 6:22pm)
  • You haven't shared a fact, you've shared an anecdotal experience. Please provide the facts that state 99% of children from these schools are African or Asian? You were the one who brought up facts, so let's deal in facts. Please share the factual data. Not that it matters but I am white, Scottish and live in the Southside of Glasgow. You're perhaps confusing Alah with Allah and making some kind of strange connection only a racist would. The fact you even went there though highlights my point. You're a sad pathetic little racist. If you're white and Scottish then that's the only thing you were close to being correct about, I am indeed ashamed to share that with you. You sad pathetic cockroach. by Alah2 (Wed 9th Aug 2023 6:41pm)
  • Who are the Investigators? The article mentions the level isn't high enough to trigger an investigation. How do you know what questions they ask? Can you provide the list of all the questions they ask the mothers? You're insinuating a correlation between this spike and the COVID vaccine. Do you think the spike could be related to the increased vaccine hysteria caused since COVID? Is that a fair leap to make also? How many other spikes have there been over the last year's pre covid? The numbers 10 years ago appear to be higher than now? What do you think caused the spikes then? by Alah2 (Fri 25th Aug 2023 2:13pm)
  • Not Jewish so can't say if it exists or not but I did notice in the Southside recently a lot of billboards had messages about stopping antisemitism. So that makes me think it does exist to some extent. by Alah2 (Fri 25th Aug 2023 3:49pm)

  • I commented late so I'm in the shadows, and to be fair I don't think either suggestions are bad. We both listened to the nae walking. by Alah2 (Fri 20th Oct 2023 10:42pm)
  • Yeah came here to say this. Happy Bus works pretty decent and at least you don't have to go far. The train is totally doable, you can walk to Haymarket in a short enough time and get the train from there. But everyone will have that same idea and it will be totally rammed. Least with Happy Bus you're guaranteed a seat/space. by Alah2 (Sat 28th Oct 2023 3:57pm)
  • Most of the comments about the bus not being good will be about the normal bus that picks up outside Murrayfield. You can buy a ticket for it but they are notoriously unreliable and people just pile on it. With Happy Bus you'll get a wristband on your outward journey to make sure only people who have pre-booked can get on the return. Worst you'll get with them is having to wait a little bit before getting picked up but that's better than having to leave early, being crammed on a train or having to rush about. Plus there's more fun to be had in Glasgow for your other night/time. by Alah2 (Sat 28th Oct 2023 4:02pm)
  • Yeah but that 45 mins goes quickly if you aren't rushing. Can take your time to leave the stadium, get some photos. by Alah2 (Sat 28th Oct 2023 4:07pm)
  • When Cosmo opened up a bunch of them went the first night and all said how amazing it is. Those are the ones to ignore. They all copy each other too, one will do a video and they all do the same video within a few days. Cretins the lot of them. by Alah2 (Sat 28th Oct 2023 10:26pm)
