  • Let me tell you my experience since I came here in September of 2018 (8 months ago) after living in the middle east for my entire life so I was in the same camp as you, never experiencing a temperature below 25 C or snow.. 1. It only rains every day in the winter seasons but the rest of the year (well, at least this year) the weather was clear and we even had some sunny days. 2. This year, it barely snowed. I didnt buy anything specifically for the snow and turns out I didnt need it. 3. Yes, plenty of shops sell thick clothing which is very useful since I barely had any winter clothing. When I came here, I was told to buy stuff from Primark as they’re quite cheap. I ended up buying 1 Jacket and 1 long coat from primark for £50. The jacket is just right for this weather, I wear it every day! 4. For me, I came here and was instantly freezing. I could not stand how cold it was. When I arrived at my accommodation, I immediately turned on the heating to max and slept with all my clothes on. First couple of month was quite rough. Everyday I went outside, I wanted to go back inside immediately cuz I was freezing cold even when I had the coat on. But as each day passes, I began getting used to the weather. 8 months later I keep the heating off and sleep shirtless like I used to. I can also go outside without a jacket and I’ll be fine. So just give it some time and you’ll get used to the weather :P by ArchonofHell (Mon 20th May 2019 9:49am)
  • Hey! I‘m a 22 yr old guy and in the exact situation as you (minus the friend disagreement part) and have the exact interests! Would love to have someone to go out with but I‘m also too introverted to go out if alone. I really need friends here in Glasgow! Lets do stuff together :o by ArchonofHell (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 10:53pm)
  • Just don‘t tell your driver that you‘re a vileblood. Alfred was a taxi driver back in the day so they all know him well by ArchonofHell (Sun 20th Dec 2020 10:34am)
  • Hello! I‘ve replied to a similar post on this sub more than a year ago and I‘ve made a fantastic friend out of it. We still hang out and watch a movie every week or 2 ^^ But we both agree that we‘d love to know more people around Glasgow. We’re both 23 and we’re into geeky stuff like video games/movies/shows/cons. Feel free to message! My doors are open by ArchonofHell (Tue 22nd Jun 2021 9:50pm)
  • Hey all, my friend (24F) and I (23M) are looking to meet new people in Glasgow and expand our circle of friends. With things easing up a bit, we’ve started hanging out in the city center again. We love going to the cinema and watching movies and we‘re looking to meet more moviegoers around our age (18-26). We‘re 2 chill people who enjoy geeky stuff like video games/shows/movies/anime. We also are interested in doing other activities such as DnD and escape room! If you‘re interested in joining our little squad, drop me a message! We welcome all! <3 by ArchonofHell (Thu 5th Aug 2021 9:56am)

  • I travelled yesterday. Train at Glasgow queen st was delayed by 10 mins and the one back at Haymarket got delayed by 30 mins but apparently that was due to an obstruction on the track and not necessarily the strikes. Good thing I kept a full hour contingency time (took a 12:00 train for an appointment at 2:00 pm) by ArchonofHell (Fri 24th Jun 2022 7:56am)
  • Just normal, it was maybe even less busy than normal by ArchonofHell (Fri 24th Jun 2022 8:00am)
