  • Thank you so much:) that's a relief.. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 20th Sep 2021 5:01pm)
  • I'll attend with a +1 aswell. by AtillaWaaagh (Tue 5th Oct 2021 12:17pm)
  • Apologies, something has come up, we wont be able to attend this week. Hope to meet y'all at the next one. by AtillaWaaagh (Tue 5th Oct 2021 11:57pm)
  • Hey there. Me and my wife just moved to West end from Turkey just recently to study. My current goal is to meet people to chat&relax with in those kinda pubs aswell. Send me a message if you're interested, pretty much free every day, just exploring the city:) hell, actually anyone who sees this can reach out to me, Just tell me a bit about yourself, and I'll tell you a bit about us, then we can set a date to raise a glass:) by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 11th Oct 2021 6:11am)
  • Yup. She's in post graduate children's literature. I took a leave of absence from my job at turkey and just along for the ride as a tourist really:). (I'm a stage actor&lecturer). She's 28 and I'm 35, although you'd probably wouldn't be able to tell o_0 we have a much younger look&vibe for some reason, people don't usually beleive us hearing our ages. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 11th Oct 2021 2:29pm)
  • Yup, sent you my discord. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 11th Oct 2021 9:43pm)
  • Well played:)Buy my weather talk is exclusive for taxi drivers only :). Its my opener to let them know, I'm the kind of passenger who enjoys a good cab ride talk. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 6:32pm)
  • I caught that joke as it was about to fly right over my head, thanks to google o_0 by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 6:39pm)
  • If the english dare call their country third world, I don't know what that makes mine o_0 I don't want to say it here not to offend people from my country, but lets just say I'm not european, nor american. Somewhere people consider to be proper 3rd world. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 6:57pm)
  • I'm in my 30's, and my country of origin should not matter. As to what kind of friends I'm looking for: just decent people interested in other people without having the need to peddle them their own ideologies. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 7:06pm)
  • Thank you:) Things you said resonate with me well actually. I've often made many friends in train etc the way you described way back home. As I definitely value those slices of life greatly, my only compaint is that they are very temporary and fleeting. Its like I feel even more parched sometimes for a conversation. But in the fast paced flow of life, as I ask someone how their day is going, and listen to their teaser of a life slice, I find myself thinking as ı watch them go "wow, ı wish ı could know more about this person". So my answer to you is, "definitely yes, and can I please have some more". (strange how I always consider myself an introvert despite this) by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 7:16pm)
  • And now I know your profile.. *scribbles at a long list of names* by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 7:57pm)
  • I've learned english from books&tv series, so sadly not my native language. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 8:12pm)
  • I might be over thinking this yeah, its hard to force this kind of thing, opportunities should arise spontaneously. I guess I just felt temporarily a bit left out, and wanted to reach for a quicker solution. I'll take those advice to heart and check out those glasgow gems aswell. Thank you so much. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 9:00pm)
  • "This patter is absolutely stinkin'" dont know what this phrase means but I can see you resent me:) I've edited them off. I try my best in this second language but somehow it always shows, and there's always someone like you to point it out:) by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 9:07pm)
  • True, some just have more than others. I just envy you for having the rest of your life to experience this beautiful country. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 9:11pm)
  • I didnt want to come off as rude not answering it. Its just that I said I lived in a 3rd world country, and sadly some of my countrymen take great offense in saying that. So I felt no need to disclose it here, as I though my country of origin should be irrelevant in people's interest in the post. But hey, if we ever met, and if you were to ask nicely, I'd tell you all about me. Even what I do for a living. . (I'm a stage actor btw) by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 9:38pm)
  • Wow. That's plenty:) but in good way, thanks for all the info:) by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 13th Oct 2021 10:11pm)
  • It worked! I wasn't even trying and some folks just said "hey, you having a good night?" after seeing me driinkin by myself at a pub, and I just made some friends:) I loved every bit of the conversation I had with them. I'm not sure if this was a fluke, but I met the kindest folk who insisted to meet me again:) by AtillaWaaagh (Thu 14th Oct 2021 12:21am)
  • I saw 3 firetrucks attending to someone's faulty cooking next door. Then, they messed up venting the kitchen, set the alarm again, and the cavalry arrived again:) all sorted now. (westend) by AtillaWaaagh (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:51pm)
  • That depends on "the stranger" too though right? İf the said stranger asked nicely, and doesn't have any off feeling about them at a first glance, why not? 5 minutes into the conversation and you find all sorts of things you share in common, and become not so strangers anymore. The trick is not to be intruding on people, I never aproach people in heated mid conversations, or couples that look like they don't need extra company. Just read people and let em read you I guess. If they feel uncomfortable, just thank them and leave. by AtillaWaaagh (Fri 29th Oct 2021 2:09pm)
  • Check meetups aswell: Long Story Short, Write & Talk https://meetu.ps/c/4VSMl/TjKWf/d by AtillaWaaagh (Fri 5th Nov 2021 6:11pm)

  • It definitely is a weekly regular meetup, although its time and locations might vary before we find our sweet spot best suited for everyone. Make sure to join the meetup group for regular updates:) by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 8th Nov 2021 5:39pm)
  • Also, sometimes the meep up app acts up weirdly, when uploading picture etc, if thats the case for you, send me a pm instead. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 8th Nov 2021 6:29pm)
  • Hey there. I definitely recommend "thirsty thursdays" being organised here aswell. I've met some very cool people. But also, last week I attended a "meetup" for expats, which turned out to be pretty good aswell. So I suggest you download the app and join some meetups too. by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 10th Nov 2021 3:41am)
  • Also if you're into writing or reading short stories. https://meetu.ps/c/4VSMl/TjKWf/d by AtillaWaaagh (Wed 10th Nov 2021 3:56am)
  • I'll be attending with +1. by AtillaWaaagh (Sun 14th Nov 2021 2:33pm)
  • I did write there once, but the kind of pop music they were playing was very off putting:) by AtillaWaaagh (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 8:26pm)
  • Hi there. I'm not female, but I was thinking to post something similar. I'm 35 and I live right next to the stevenson building at the student accommodation, but after two visits, I just couldnt drag myself without someone to hold me accountable:) I'm pretty weak too:) So I would love to start weightlifting. I just thought I'd feel a bit down with a buffed up gym bro as buddy, so if gender isn't an issue, I'd love to join aswell and commit. by AtillaWaaagh (Tue 14th Dec 2021 4:49pm)
  • That's one reason we'd like to join something outdoors. I have no intention of celebrating in close quarters, without a mask. But still I wondered if there was something we could watch outside, that would be lovely, as it would be out first time in Scotland. (Thanks for the heads up about the pandemic tho) by AtillaWaaagh (Sun 26th Dec 2021 5:08pm)
  • Discovered new sushi place called "Don Ya". Feels like a hidden gem, it's sorta like underground, easy to miss. It's the best I've experienced in Glasgow o_0 by AtillaWaaagh (Sun 24th Jul 2022 8:45pm)
  • Now that I read it again, it kinda does yeah o_0 I don't know why ı'm basically an unpaid travel writer, simping about some places. But hey, I discovered it by chance, and if the post helps someone else have a good time, that' s not bad. I have no idea what its called but I had this plate of multiple things there, and that was awesome. Wife had something something chicken on top of rice, and I ended up eating half of it too since it was so good. So I'd recommend dont just go for sushi, the other stuff on the menu was what hooked me. (Since I'm an idiot doing unpaid pr for restaurants, try saffron by paradise in West End too:) that's my other favourite place) by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 25th Jul 2022 12:12pm)
  • I've been looking for jobs too man:) maybe thats why I got too much time on my hands for my own good. I wouldn't write all this if the place was well know and easy to discover logistically. But I thought they managed to put together a nice place no one knew, and that kinda got to me. Maybe because opening up my own place is something I want to do someday, but for now back to the job searching for me writing stupid cover letters and reading company descriptions. Yeah, I'll get to that. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 25th Jul 2022 12:25pm)
  • I don't even know the names, but tried a bunch of stuff there and it was pretty great:) And I had tried 5-6 recommended places in glasgow, from esushi, to chinatown to all these other places in Finnieston, but this was better to me, especially the non sushi stuff as well. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 25th Jul 2022 12:58pm)
  • I think so, they do. Although the place seemed pretty relaxing and empty. Same the second time I went on a sunday. It has that whole slice of life anime vibes going on with the music. I'd feel anxious eating alone on somewhere fast paced too, but that place put me at ease. by AtillaWaaagh (Mon 25th Jul 2022 1:23pm)
