  • Large 1 bed apartment in Inverclyde, right at the water, 11% of our combined takehome wage. Feels more in my head 😂 the area we're in is super nice, but the surrounding areas are shitholes, hence the cheap rent 😅 we'll take it though by Beepbipboppityboop (Thu 10th Mar 2022 10:03am)
  • Hey! 26F here, let me see... For going out, pubs etc are totally casual, so wear what ya like. Bars, jeans and heels/boots etc, little bit fancier but still caj, a-okay. Nightclubs are where Glasgow differ 😂 depending on the club, people do get pretty done up. If it's a rock club, like Cathouse, wear whatever you like, never has an issue there, someone could be in jeans with a pal who's in a latex dress, no rules, haha, most other clubs though like Bamboo, Kokomo, Bijoux, a bit dressier - try having a look at their insta/Facebook pages, you'll see photos from club nights and be able to nosy at what people wear. Glasgow has great transport, so if you're looking to save some money, maybe look about 20 mins outwith the city centre for accommodation. It'll be super easy for travel still, only about £10 for a taxi home after a night out, and the rent will be about £200 cheaper 💸 Overall, Glasgow is an amazing place, as someone above said, we use cunt veryyyy colloquially, so don't fret about that. We can sound quite aggressive at times due to the accent, but I promise we're not! Sarcasm and self-deprecating humour are big here, always goes over a bit weird with people who aren't used to it. We have so many beautiful places to see, but don't be afraid to spend some time outwith the city. Go visit Glen Coe (I love it there, so quiet and beautiful), or even take a weekend trip down to London! If you book in advance you can get super cheap train tickets, about £80 return, or there's an 8 hour coach (I know, you need to really want to go 😅😂) for £10 right to central London. I'm just rabbiting on now, but if you've got any questions specifically, let me know!! by Beepbipboppityboop (Mon 14th Mar 2022 9:13am)
  • Gourock is lovely, I live there and it's such a nice area, and compared to Glasgow and the closer surrounding areas, it's so much cheaper. I wouldn't completely write it off :) Edit : spelling by Beepbipboppityboop (Sun 20th Mar 2022 3:47pm)
  • I've been here for nearly 8 years now, moved up from Glasgow when I was 18, and I've never used the outdoor pool...I know, terrible!!! I've used the gym it's attached to though, haha, great views! It's a stunning place, loads of cute shops too, there's loads of outdoor spaces for kids and stuff, I can't imagine why OP wouldn't like it! Greenock is a shitehole, I'll give them that, but isn't every nice scheme just round the corner from one? by Beepbipboppityboop (Sun 20th Mar 2022 7:58pm)
  • Yeungs is the best I've had 😍 by Beepbipboppityboop (Mon 21st Mar 2022 1:35am)
  • I know nothing about astronomy, but Lunderson Bay in Gourock is incredible on a clear night, I imagine you'd be able to see things super clearly there :) what you can see just with the naked eye is stunning enough. by Beepbipboppityboop (Thu 24th Mar 2022 12:10am)
  • Oh fuck off mate. by Beepbipboppityboop (Sun 27th Mar 2022 11:09pm)
  • I have, he's done it since before we even got him, vet said cat is fine, just an arsehole <3 by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 8:47am)
  • Honestly, probably not them all, just the stuff we've been able to pick up in our local pets at home. We've tried a few clumping and non clumping, wood pellets, even tried dirt cause we thought he might have been an outdoor cat before. He seemed to like pooing on boxes if we had any lying about, so we even just put cardboard down (as well as his trays obviously), but as soon as it was laid out he went on the carpet again. He's nearly 2, we adopted him a few months ago but weren't told much about his history other than he was in a house with 11 other cats. We're assuming they were just allowed to go wherever, but then he pees in his box fine, so who knows. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 8:57am)
  • Yeah, we got closed ones originally, and he just didn't use them at all. Took lids off, and he'll pee, but still not poo. Got 2 of those now, lids off, a tray that has a kind of rim on it, and also a kitten tray (just incase, he had one in the SSPCA so thought it'd be familiar, he's never even sniffed it right enough). May aswell just cover my whole floor in litter at this point 😂 by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 9:08am)
  • I've been wondering about this!!! Definitely a shout, thanks! by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 9:05am)
  • He really isn't stressed, he's super chill and loves cuddles and is a total lap cat, eats fine and plays loads, he's just a literal wee shite 😂 I'll deffo try kinda manually showing him, and that litter seems to be in stock near my mother in laws, so will give it a go! Thanks!! by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 11:44am)
  • Well luckily it's no your pet, bawheid. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 11:42am)
  • Thanks ❤️ he's so perfect other than this, just want to get him to a good place. It's good to hear they've got a good rep, will try all these suggestions then give them a call in a month or so x by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 11:47am)
  • We have 4 now, 3 big ones and a wee kitten one we got cause he had one like it in the SSPCA, so thought it'd maybe be familiar, but alas. That video sounds promising, thanks for all the advice, I'll give that a watch too!! by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 11:46am)
  • Hmm, not that I've noticed. I'll have a look about, but he doesn't seem stressed usually, he's eating fine, total lap cat, plays a-okay, not meowing loads at any point, idk, he seems 100% okay other than this pooping thing. Nope, 4!! Tried loads of different types to see what he prefers. Yeah, we were talking about maybe getting a rug from the range or something, but that's a good idea to get offcuts!!! Thank you 😁 by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 11:50am)
  • Ooooh he is a big boiii, this is a shout!!! Also, I love Gary ❤️ my boyfriends old cat was called Paul. Animals with human names hold a special place in my heart. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 30th Mar 2022 2:23pm)
  • Don't know if it's too far, but Lunderson Bay in Gourock is fab for it! by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 20th Apr 2022 6:50pm)
  • Gourock is a direct train away, about 40 mins, and it's stunning. Super cheap COL since it's beside greenock which is a biiiiit of a shitehole, but Gourock itself is small, has a beach and big wooden area for walks, super close to other lovely places like Wemyss Bay, Largs etc, has some cute charity shops and a farmers market every month, and there's plenty of cute cafes and coffee shops. Also a few pubs if you fancy, never really any hassle as no nightclubs here, so it's always a nice night if you do decide to go. Super quaint, would recommend :) by Beepbipboppityboop (Sun 24th Apr 2022 9:16pm)
  • My mum never let me talk slang as a child, she always made sure I spoke politely and made it really clear I could do what I wanted in school with friends, but always speak to teachers and adults properly. I swear it made me carry myself differently. I went to school in Possilpark, and secondary in Springburn, so you can imagine how that stood out 😅 but I've never been rejected for a job, I got dux in school, sounds proper stuck up and I don't mean it to, it's terrible, I don't like that the Glaswegian accent is so discriminated against because it totally is, but being able to codeswitch has opened up so much to me. Yet again, not a good thing, but...it helps. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 27th Apr 2022 3:41pm)
  • We live in Inverclyde which is considerably cheaper than Glasgow, and even our monthly bills don't come in at £700 all in. It's definitely possible on 35k, easily infact, but not with the limit you're setting on bills. by Beepbipboppityboop (Thu 28th Apr 2022 9:44pm)
  • Yeah, big difference between 35k and 700pm 😅 by Beepbipboppityboop (Thu 28th Apr 2022 9:55pm)
  • It's more fun reading it like you are really excited though. I'm choosing to ignore the last sentence, and continuing to think you reaaaaaally want to go to Invernesshire on a minibus. by Beepbipboppityboop (Thu 28th Apr 2022 9:54pm)
  • 26, IT Architect, 30k (severely below market value, but hey ho) by Beepbipboppityboop (Fri 29th Apr 2022 11:04am)
  • I went to school there, it's mixed, you're fine. Don't sing celtic songs in the street and you'll be fine. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 4th May 2022 10:49am)
  • When I went to NQ64 there were loads of people in their 40s and older - my mum actually went the night after me 😅 don't see the issue. by Beepbipboppityboop (Sat 14th May 2022 1:16pm)

  • What?! 😅 How'd you figure that one? by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:09am)
  • Haha, it was more just people's opinions. I'm intrigued by your sorry though, not sure if you're insinuating I don't have class due to where I'm from? by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:06am)
  • I mean, I don't care, care isn't the right word. I also don't judge anyone at all based on their class, I judge them on whether or not they're a wanker about it. I have friends claiming UC whilst getting 2k a month cash in hand, and I have friends living in houses I could only dream of, travelling the world and never checking a price tag. They're all amazing human beings. Money and class don't affect my views on someone, their attitude does. It was just a fun question - it's cool to see everyones thoughts. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:13am)
  • I'm genuinely interested in what you mean by luxuries? Like for me growing up, luxuries were the newest phones, designer gear, meals out etc. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 1:10am)
  • Wow, was there a lot of kids? Sorry, that amount just seems unreal for the things you're talking about. My boyfriend and I obviously earn nowhere near that and quite comfortably have those things, I'm assuming the extra 50k a year was for like, a whole troop of kids? This thread is super interesting to me, I obviously grew up in extreme poverty, so just hearing how different people live is something I really enjoy. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 1:38am)

  • Luckily it's a Glasgow sub, so definitely don't live in SE England. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 11:52am)
  • To be fair, when I was 19 I lived myself, travelled 40 minutes via train for work every day, and still had nights out on 14.5k 😅 I just lived within my means, moved outside Glasgow, got a really nice flat in a different area, cost £380 a month, single person council tax, shopped in iceland and farmfoods. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad by any means, I still enjoyed myself. If you're childless, you could definitely do it. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 11:51am)
  • You're not wrong 😂 by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:00pm)
  • I mean, I partially agree with them. It's not that you don't have money, it's that you have so much money that you can do these things. I had this conversation with my boyfriend yesterday, we were like wow, how do we earn this but still not have loads left over, and it's not that we're skint, it's that we have a lovely home and brand new car, and we eat fresh meats and have expensive computers etc. We earn more so we can enjoy it, and I think the whole hoarding wealth this is where people with disposable income go so wrong. Having 20k of savings (outwith mortgage deposit) is pointless if you never do anything with them, why do I want money sitting in the bank when I could spend it and enjoy life a bit more? by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:00pm)
  • Hahaha, tbf I just always see other people say it, I'M TRYING TO FIT IN OKAY??? by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 12:51pm)

  • What about people who didn't go to uni at all, and also don't come from money? 😅 by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 9:26pm)
  • It was a joke, I don't care at all, it's just interesting to me how other people view it. I'm not middle class, I never will be. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hold myself that way, and be confident in it, but I'm just some lassie from Possil whose mum wouldn't let her speak slang, and who grew up resenting the poverty she was born into, so got lucky, and I know that and own it. I just was interested in speaking about it on here, I like hearing people's opinions on things like money, it's so taboo irl. by Beepbipboppityboop (Tue 24th May 2022 9:32pm)
  • I feel this, seeing people get mega high salaries, spend it on mega high rent/mortgage, new cars, expensive hobbies, then say it isn't enough to live on 😅 reaaaaaally gets to me. Like the fact we get 69k blows my mind, we 100% spend money on shite we don't need, we could be way smarter, but that tells me it's moreeee than enough to live on. Living within your means seems to not translate when you've never had to worry about it before. by Beepbipboppityboop (Fri 27th May 2022 11:12pm)

  • I usually just tip a few pound, wages are decent here, it's not like America where people rely on them. I worked as a waitress years ago in a restaurant on George Square, and if someone left £2 I was buzzin' 😂 but I didn't expect anything. Whilst we're on it, I usually tip taxi drivers 2 quid, hairdressers about a fiver, takeaway delivery drivers about £2/3, and I think that's it. I used to tip my nail tech when I got it done years ago, but my tech now owns her salon, n charges me a bomb, so I never tip now 😅 maybe that's a dick move and I should...but she does charge about 50% extra on anywhere else I've seen, so I feel like I've already paid for her time? I dunno. by Beepbipboppityboop (Mon 27th Jun 2022 3:22pm)
  • Coming from the guy so desperate to see a titty that you're looking for nude movie scenes. Might have anxiety but atleast I'm not that dumb 😂 by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 29th Jun 2022 5:03pm)
  • I got a session last year within the month, and just for context, that wasn't with suicidal thoughts or anything, I was just struggling with health anxiety. I did eventually pay privately after a few sessions, but that was just due to wanting a specific course of treatment, the NHS therapist was fantastic and helped me so so much. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 29th Jun 2022 5:00pm)
  • My boyfriend and I WFH, and both have gaming PCs on all day, and our gas and electric comes to between £150/200 a month in a 1 bed flat. by Beepbipboppityboop (Mon 4th Jul 2022 12:03pm)
  • I tip everyone 😅 delivery drivers, taxi drivers, nail techs, restaurants, hairdressers. Anyone providing a service really. It's only ever £2/3, at a restaurant I maybe leave a fiver (we're not America, 15% can get to fk 😂), but yeah, I've been a waitress and a delivery driver before and it's always nice to have a little extra change. Plus, you're dealing with the public. That deserves all the cash you can get. by Beepbipboppityboop (Wed 20th Jul 2022 12:49am)
  • I tip everyone, taxi drivers, food delivery drivers, bar staff, trainee hairdressers when they wash your hair, nail techs etc. Not 10%, sure, but £1/£2, sometimes a fiver if they've done something above and beyond. Every once in a while I up my uber eats tip to £10 just to cheer someone up. It's not expected, at all, so don't ever feel like you have to, no one expects it, it's just nice to do. I've worked in restaurants as a waitress, and done takeaway deliveries before, and I know a few pounds here and there really cheers you up during a shitty shift, so I like to be that person now, but it's not common nor expected at all. by Beepbipboppityboop (Fri 14th Oct 2022 1:34pm)
  • Checked out their insta and they've done similar before, so this seems like a winner, thank you! by Beepbipboppityboop (Sun 30th Oct 2022 6:45pm)
