  • Sorry for the essay, however I've just moved away from Aberfoyle St last month after 3 years and feel I can advise. Would strongly recommend don't go there or the surrounding area. Cons: despite a secure entry system, someone consistently gained access during the AM to sleep on my landing outside my door, they always urinated against the door leading down to the bins and I would come home to needles and bottles lying on stairs, evidence that people were in during the day. The flats themselves aren't great and I had a major issue last summer with people in the next close however shared a wall with them. They moved in abruptly and for a few months played constant Polish dance music, violent arguments etc. Eventually had to get noise authorities out as it was affecting my mental health and work, who advised it was too dangerous to approach them and to log the incidents, tell the council, who refer you to the police who say its a council issue... Quite a bad young team culture that seems to be fading away elsewhere. Pros: You'd be facing Ally Park which is great for a stroll, would advise not to go near after dark, like most parks though. Great transport links, 38 gets you into town 15-20 mins Local bars like Lea Rig I'd avoid, strange atmosphere, but Celinos is great, bars and restaurants on Duke St are generally good, and Necropolis is great for a walk then Drygate/ Cathedral Hose for drinks. Benny's is a great chippy and bump you extras once you get to know them. But yeah, if you have issues in your current place I'd venture they'd be the same or worse. Try to avoid East of the Ally Park entrance if you can; that's Haghill, though often gets marketed as Dennistoun by Bukowski__ (Sat 4th May 2019 7:50pm)
  • An article I wrote few years years ago; I think the topic of Grahamston is fascinating and always surprises me how little people really know about it. Hopefully some others find it as interesting! by Bukowski__ (Sat 9th May 2020 9:38am)
  • Thanks for reading :) I'm not sure if it's been posted before, but it's the first I've posted it myself. Been going over old pieces I've written and figured it'd help with lockdown boredom. A couple others like this weren't published before GlasgowLiving got into trouble, but I've no way of posting them to a direct site by Bukowski__ (Sat 9th May 2020 7:00pm)
  • The Inside Glasgow Central one? It's great, the second series looks just as good. Gutted I've still not managed to get on the tour myself, will be a good while away now. by Bukowski__ (Sat 9th May 2020 7:10pm)
