  • Have to say, have never been to a bar in Glasgow on Fri/Sat that is quiet. That said, somewhere like Variety on Sauchiehall St is quieter on weekdays than many. Other than that, perhaps try out some of the bigger bars maybe? Will be busier as in more people perhaps but more likely to find a quiet corner by DarquessSC2 (Sun 24th Feb 2019 12:06am)
  • Pretty sure Inn Deep on Great Western Road has t-shirts by DarquessSC2 (Fri 16th Aug 2019 3:35pm)
  • The Crafty Pig usually have NFL games on by DarquessSC2 (Sat 12th Oct 2019 2:22pm)
  • I'd imagine Partick will be the cheapest of the 3, it's a bit further from the city centre but very good transport links with the subway and suburban rail. Partick also has bigger shops and a Lidl, so food shopping may be a bit cheaper there than Finnieston which only has smaller shops like Tesco Expresses which are of course a bit dearer. Pubs in Finnieston are also a bit more expensive than other places, though it's a very nice area. Woodlands I can't really comment on other than it'll be very studenty I imagine by DarquessSC2 (Thu 13th Feb 2020 2:14pm)
  • Potentially concerning upticks near the edge of some of those graphs... Hopefully a fluke and not a trend by DarquessSC2 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 6:24pm)
  • There's an uptick in people going to parks and too work, and the amount of time spent in residential seems to be going down slightly by DarquessSC2 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 7:13pm)
  • That makes sense in the civil service, you're working with politicians and need to be trusted to implement political policies impartially. But this is a private sector employee and it's absolutely right that private sector businesses should be held to account, just as politicians are held to account by their voters by DarquessSC2 (Fri 19th Jun 2020 7:37pm)
  • When it comes to things like Black Lives Matter, silence is complicity. Plenty other companies, including other breweries, have been vocal on this issue. I don't see anything wrong with this employee questioning West's silence. by DarquessSC2 (Fri 19th Jun 2020 7:42pm)
  • Really don't understand a lot of the comments here, saying stuff like "don't criticise your employer". If people never criticised their employer, there'd be no weekends and we'd be working 12+ hour days... by DarquessSC2 (Fri 19th Jun 2020 7:45pm)
  • Would be very interested to hear some examples of why you shouldn't support BLM by DarquessSC2 (Fri 19th Jun 2020 8:00pm)

  • Raising the kid right by DarquessSC2 (Fri 24th Jul 2020 3:57pm)
  • With furlough money for Scotland secured, how long before Glasgow goes to level 4? The case numbers the past few days haven't been looking particularly brilliant by DarquessSC2 (Thu 5th Nov 2020 5:39pm)
  • Though I imagine level 4 will mean more people are willing to grass up their neighbours for doing so, so there will be some reduction there I'd expect by DarquessSC2 (Tue 17th Nov 2020 5:46pm)
  • I'd be interested to the 25-44 age group there broken down a bit more. To me, looking at that graph it seems by far the largest sections are right in the age group that would have children in schools, though difficult to say for sure without more granularity. by DarquessSC2 (Tue 17th Nov 2020 5:51pm)
  • Presumably click and collect involves far less time spent in store, as it removes any need for browsing. It's not just about the raw number of people but also the time they spend in the shop by DarquessSC2 (Tue 17th Nov 2020 5:58pm)
  • Battered saveloy is fantastic. In chippies in NZ you get them battered on a stick, they call them hotdogs by DarquessSC2 (Thu 19th Nov 2020 2:37pm)
  • Is the building guarded? Couldn't residents just "break in" to get their stuff, at least stuff other than furniture? Obviously a risk but given the current economic situation if there's stuff that would be expensive to replace... Though perhaps would have insurance implications I suppose by DarquessSC2 (Thu 10th Dec 2020 6:33am)
  • Athbliain faoi mhaise duit! by DarquessSC2 (Fri 1st Jan 2021 7:18am)
  • Love the title! You clickbaited me with 'madness' making me think it was busy af. Glad to see the people of Glasgow staying home, protecting the NHS and saving lives by DarquessSC2 (Sun 17th Jan 2021 6:31am)
  • I've got to head down to England tomorrow to say goodbye to my grandad. I know compassionate end-of-life reasons are a reasonable excuse for travel under the coronavirus regulations but I could do without the additional stress of explaining that to police. Does anyone know if there are travel spot-checks at Central station? by DarquessSC2 (Wed 17th Feb 2021 7:09am)
  • Cheers to everyone who responded to my message yesterday, means a lot. Got on the train no hassle at all by DarquessSC2 (Thu 18th Feb 2021 2:31pm)
  • Any thoughts on what would be the spiciest curry I can order for takeaway tonight? Fancying something HOT. Ideally something more madrassy than vindalooey (vindaloos can be a tad vinegary for my tastes) but anything will do Edit: I'm in Finnieston, so anywhere that'll deliver to there is good by DarquessSC2 (Sat 27th Feb 2021 6:15am)
  • Bloody windy today Also, why's today's tune just a review? I mean the new Arab Strap album is good but I'd rather listen to the music than someone talking about it by DarquessSC2 (Mon 29th Mar 2021 8:19am)
  • A street running parallel to North St would also run north/south. Presumably a window looking out onto that street would be looking east or west, depending on the side of the street the building is on by DarquessSC2 (Thu 1st Apr 2021 11:35am)
  • In the mood for a Chinese for tea tonight. What's the best place for char siu/chicken fried rice that delivers to finnieston? by DarquessSC2 (Wed 7th Apr 2021 1:36pm)
  • Haven't had their pizzas but their calzones are great! by DarquessSC2 (Thu 6th May 2021 4:33pm)
  • I'd say it's even odds at best that we'll be allowed indoor visitors before September. Glasgow is being absolutely shat on by DarquessSC2 (Fri 14th May 2021 5:23pm)
  • Oh 100% re the resurgence - that's why I specified September rather than end of year by DarquessSC2 (Fri 14th May 2021 11:46pm)
  • Keep in mind there's the incubation period - might not have been long enough to show a positive result yet. Good luck though, hope you stay clear of it! by DarquessSC2 (Sat 15th May 2021 6:22pm)

  • Ayy, welcome to Level 2!.... Oh wait... Yeah... Thanks Nicola.... by DarquessSC2 (Mon 17th May 2021 7:33am)
  • This online registration is all well and good in theory but not very useful at all to people not registered with a GP or e.g. students who aren't living where they are registered by DarquessSC2 (Mon 24th May 2021 4:21pm)
  • It will help you know that an appointment technically exists, yes, but that doesn't necessarily let you be able to actually make the appointment if it's in some far flung part of the country rather than where you're currently living. I just think there should be an additional option asking 'do you currently live in the same area as your GP registration' and allow you to have an appointment booked elsewhere by DarquessSC2 (Mon 24th May 2021 5:02pm)
  • My local train station is in the exclusion zone. Guess that means they expect me to Uber everywhere while this is going on by DarquessSC2 (Thu 27th May 2021 6:53pm)
  • True. The talk of 'maintaining local access' implied to me that it may be set up like Hogmanay in Edinburgh where you'd need passes to even get to your house, but that could be wrong, may just be to allow local vehicles in and out. Though given the emphasis on security with various world leaders there, it wouldn't surprise me if it was pretty full on. by DarquessSC2 (Thu 27th May 2021 7:43pm)
  • M... Hmm... Mad Max: Glasgow Edition?๐Ÿ˜‚ though perhaps not since it's the West End by DarquessSC2 (Fri 28th May 2021 3:32am)
  • Are you able to stay in uni halls? If so, Queen Margaret halls meets your requirements and I've heard good things about it (though I stayed in Murano myself). Though I imagine it will be mostly 1st years and I assume you are further through your uni career if you are on Erasmus. Queen Margaret halls has a reputation of being a lot quieter than some of the other halls though so it may not be so bad. Can't comment as to private halls I'm afraid as I went from uni halls in 1st year to private rented in 2nd and beyond. If you are considering private rented, one of the Glasgow Uni student unions, the SRC, has a flat share website where people advertise for flatmates, so that could be an option too. Private rented may allow you to arrange your own ISP so the quality of your internet will depend solely on what you and your flatmates are willing to spent in that situation, rather than purely what the halls are offering. by DarquessSC2 (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 1:04am)
  • Oof can't tease us like that without dropping the recipe by DarquessSC2 (Fri 4th Jun 2021 8:00am)

  • Happy Saturday folks by DarquessSC2 (Sat 19th Jun 2021 7:57am)
  • Does it not depend on goal difference? Say Scotland win 2-0 and England 3-0, we'd be above the Czechs on goal difference then by DarquessSC2 (Sat 19th Jun 2021 11:59am)
  • Ah I see. Weird rule compared to normal leagues, cheers for the clarification by DarquessSC2 (Sat 19th Jun 2021 12:30pm)
  • Today's the day folks - I'm getting vaxxed at the Louisa Jordan in 2 hours time! by DarquessSC2 (Mon 21st Jun 2021 9:25am)
  • Got the Pfizer one, since I'm 22, so hopefully will avoid the shit night haha. Did take your advice on taking paracetamol before going along though, cheers! by DarquessSC2 (Mon 21st Jun 2021 11:37am)
  • I was lucky, no queue at all, got straight through! by DarquessSC2 (Mon 21st Jun 2021 12:25pm)
  • Aye it's been pretty bad today, one of the worst this year for sure. Was away in the countryside over the weekend where it was dreadful and had been looking forward to get back to the city where it's not so bad, just my luck I come back to such a high count by DarquessSC2 (Tue 29th Jun 2021 5:17pm)
  • Just got the news that this is my last week of being a layabout - back to full time employment on Monday! by DarquessSC2 (Wed 14th Jul 2021 12:35pm)
  • Could get a long hose, hook it up to your kitchen sink then stick it out the window? by DarquessSC2 (Mon 26th Jul 2021 3:47pm)
  • Hope you managed to get one! If not you may be able to order a back copy online. I forgot to buy the Herald the day my results were published so I think I'm just gonna order a copy from them. A bit dearer than buying the newspaper normally but at least I can get it as a souvenir by DarquessSC2 (Thu 29th Jul 2021 11:10am)
  • They didn't even launch them high enough to give folk a proper light show. Arseholes by DarquessSC2 (Tue 10th Aug 2021 2:30am)
  • Got my 2nd dose yesterday. Smooth operation at the mosque, was quick despite how busy it was. Feeling a bit worse for wear today though by DarquessSC2 (Tue 17th Aug 2021 2:09pm)
  • Biffy will be awesome! Will be good to hear the new album live I'm surprised they're not allowing the 2 weeks post second dose as a way in like most places in England seem to be doing though by DarquessSC2 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 12:07pm)
  • Does anyone know how long it takes the vacs.nhs.scot website to update with your latest vaccination status? I got my second dose on Monday and it's still not showing online by DarquessSC2 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 12:10pm)
  • Cheers that's reassuring. Was a little worried something had gone wrong haha by DarquessSC2 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 12:26pm)
  • I've only ever heard of that happening in England, never in Scotland? by DarquessSC2 (Thu 19th Aug 2021 1:23am)
  • Ooh haven't heard of that, may need to take a look, cheers by DarquessSC2 (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 6:32pm)
  • Oh really, wireless doesn't work? Bit annoying considering eBay currently seems to be mostly full of wireless ones by DarquessSC2 (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 6:44pm)
  • Ah okay cool, at the moment theres a few listings on eBay of wireless controller + receiver but I suppose it's worth waiting see if any better deals come up by DarquessSC2 (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 7:03pm)
  • Glasgow Green, Biffy Clyro playing with about 4 supports, gates at 4pm. Not quite a pub but will be a hell of a night by DarquessSC2 (Thu 2nd Sep 2021 11:09pm)
  • So annoying that TRNSMT doesn't have re-entry. Would be much better if you could go down early afternoon, see some bands, pop to the pubs, then back again later by DarquessSC2 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 12:01pm)
  • It was incredible. Feeling rather hungover and somewhat battered and bruised from the crowd today mind. Totally worth it by DarquessSC2 (Fri 10th Sep 2021 1:46pm)
  • TRNSMT yesterday was good. The night out afterwards was also pretty fun. The walk home, however, ended in disaster as I tripped and my glasses fell down a drain. Currently blind until Specsavers bothers to make my replacement pair. Fml by DarquessSC2 (Sun 12th Sep 2021 2:00pm)
  • Yeah, my plan is to get a note of my prescription from Specsavers then order a spare pair online for cheaper than what Specsavers are charging haha by DarquessSC2 (Sun 12th Sep 2021 3:06pm)
  • Might want to PM the ticket to the taker directly rather than linking it. Makes try to use it very speculative when its just available like that by DarquessSC2 (Tue 14th Sep 2021 12:57am)
  • Just found out my uni course will be going back online for 2 weeks during Cop26, nightmare. I get that it's important but can't help but feel Cop is gonna be an absolute nightmare for people living in the city by DarquessSC2 (Tue 14th Sep 2021 11:27am)
  • There's an open mic at Box on Sauchiehall Street, starting 10pm by DarquessSC2 (Tue 14th Sep 2021 8:09pm)
  • Went to a nightclub last night for the first time in over 18 months. Fab night, though I'm rather hungover today by DarquessSC2 (Sat 25th Sep 2021 3:15pm)
  • Yeah the AirBnB renting scam is quite popular at the moment. Definitely avoid by DarquessSC2 (Thu 30th Sep 2021 8:44pm)
  • I usually do about 3 a week as I'm back in person for uni. One before class on Monday, one before class on Wednesday and usually one at the weekend before meeting friends by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Oct 2021 4:01pm)
  • Interesting, I didn't know that. There's an Air BnB in my close,a couple floors down. Reading the full article, it goes on to say that a change of planning permission is required, does that mean theoretically it is allowed as long as planning permission is granted? by DarquessSC2 (Wed 13th Oct 2021 11:47pm)
  • I see those flower women quite often on nights out, always assumed they were just homeless folk trying to make a bit of cash. Didn't realise they were pickpockets. Will definitely be more wary of them in the future, luckily haven't had anything stolen so far by DarquessSC2 (Tue 19th Oct 2021 7:11pm)
  • ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ by DarquessSC2 (Thu 28th Oct 2021 3:35am)
  • Good bit of perspective imo While there's plenty incorrect about the post (subway and buses being the most obvious), as locals we too often forget how great this city is in many ways by DarquessSC2 (Sun 7th Nov 2021 2:12am)
  • Second attempt at resetting my sleep schedule today after a 10am 'power nap' on Sunday fucked me. So far, so good by DarquessSC2 (Mon 8th Nov 2021 1:00pm)
  • Just had a South Indian Garlic Chilli curry from Mister Singh's. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a very spicy but also flavourful curry by DarquessSC2 (Sat 27th Nov 2021 7:04pm)
  • I have a PCR test at Skypark (CT) Mobile Unit in the Skypark Port Street Car Park later today - is that obvious and easy to get to? by DarquessSC2 (Thu 16th Dec 2021 10:23am)
  • Should've been getting my booster today. Instead I'm self-isolating after my flatmate got Covid. He's gets out just before Christmas - meanwhile, I'm sat here praying I don't catch it from him so I can get out then too by DarquessSC2 (Sat 18th Dec 2021 7:16am)
  • Much love mate. I'm also positive at the moment. Hope you had an alright night all things considered and hope you have a fucking fantastic 2022 by DarquessSC2 (Sat 1st Jan 2022 4:06am)
  • Off to the Barrowland tonight to see Wolf Alice with a mate who's yet to have his booster due to having Covid recently - anyone know if 2 jabs are enough for the vaccine passport still or whether he'll need to register a LFT? by DarquessSC2 (Wed 16th Feb 2022 3:19pm)
  • Cheers, thought that'd probably be the case but doesn't look like their website's been updated since the change in requirements. Now just to hope this weather doesn't lead to any last minute cancellations! by DarquessSC2 (Wed 16th Feb 2022 3:29pm)
  • We lost an hour last night, 2am jumped forward to 3am rather than back to 1am by DarquessSC2 (Sun 27th Mar 2022 6:10pm)
  • If you want to avoid buses, subway to Partick then train to one of the stations near Parkhead could be option. There's regular trains from Partick to both Duke Street and Carntyne, as well as usually to Bridgeton and Dalmarnock (albeit those aren't running atm until May due to engineering works) by DarquessSC2 (Fri 15th Apr 2022 1:08pm)
  • Pretty sure Strathaven only does microlights, so if OP is wanting a full PPL then it may not be best option. If they're just wanting to fly for fun though, fixed wing microlights are very similar to 'real' planes and cheaper to fly by DarquessSC2 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 1:47pm)
  • Before I moved to Glasgow,I stayed at Eurohostel for TRNSMT so another recommendation for that option for me by DarquessSC2 (Fri 6th May 2022 8:11am)
  • Worst thing about the drink? When it makes you you wake up after only a couple hours of sleep. Here's hoping I get back to sleep soon (though past experience isn't promising) by DarquessSC2 (Sun 8th May 2022 6:18am)
  • Obviously both are awful but I'd rather see littering than active destruction of city property by DarquessSC2 (Sun 15th May 2022 2:42am)
  • Aye, there's definitely a difference between good natured celebrations inevitably leading to litter, as regrettable as that may be, and active destruction. I've definitely felt safer in the city today than I did when the rangers fans were out last year by DarquessSC2 (Sun 15th May 2022 2:49am)
  • Litter is a very different thing to actively destroying city property tbf by DarquessSC2 (Sun 15th May 2022 2:52am)
  • Was one of them Michael from Shelter? Had him at my door the other day. Nice guy but definitely feels a bit weird having people come to your door asking for money by DarquessSC2 (Fri 1st Jul 2022 8:46pm)
  • Definitely a lot cheaper than some of the others I've seen! Have you been? Is it any good? While I like the idea of a cheap gym financially, I'm also a little cautious until someone can vouch for it, hence why I'm asking for recommendations on Reddit haha by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 7:57am)
  • Was just a little joke, don't worry, no body dysmorphia here by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 8:36am)
  • Oh yeah absolutely. Not interested in bulking, that seems super extreme and restrictive in terms of diet etc. The mention of Love Island was just tongue in cheek really. I'm much more concerned about just improving my general fitness. Looks like that app is also available on iPhone so will check it out! by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 8:53am)
  • Nice recommendation, cheers for the in-depth response! Feel like I'll be a bit awkward to start at least, so stone cold dead sounds ideal ๐Ÿ˜‚as long as I can manage to gym the quiet times and still get to work at any rate. Which PureGym is it you go do? Just in the sense of yours is busy so depending on the area I could maybe translate that to what to expect at the one closer to me by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 9:37am)
  • I've seen most gyms offer classes, are you referring to those, in which case which gym would you recommend, or something external from the gyms, in which case where do I learn more? by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 9:44am)
  • Looks interesting though seems there's only really two Glasgow gyms and neither are all that near me ๐Ÿ˜” by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 9:41am)
  • Yeah I'm aware of the Nuffield in Finnieston - it's very tempting with proximity and facilities but also rather expensive, not quite £60 but I'd be spending £45 a month on a 12 month contract if I went there. Part of the reason for this post was to try to see if there were any nearby cheap gyms I hadn't encountered but so far they've all been where I expected. So ultimately I'm still going to have to decide between convenience and cash. The options you (and others) have suggested look decent and are much cheaper than the Nuffield, so that's a big plus. But Nuffield being so much closer makes me feel I'd make the trip more often - 5-10 minutes is a lot more palatable than 20-25 by DarquessSC2 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 10:06am)
  • The only people I really tip are black cab drivers and that's only because its about the only time I pay in cash (since so many don't take card I always get out a tenner before jumping in) and the journey back to mine from central always costs £8-something and I don't wanna bother with the change by DarquessSC2 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 8:57pm)
  • Funnily enough, generic loratadine works much better for me than brand name cetrizine hydrochloride and I get really bad hay fever by DarquessSC2 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 1:29pm)
  • Last day at work before my first holiday since starting! Have to say, getting everything prepared is more stressful than I anticipated Heading to Kendal Calling tomorrow so fingers crossed the trains aren't too fucked from today's strikes, up the RMT by DarquessSC2 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 1:09pm)
  • Meze Meze in Finnieston is licensed, though more Turkish than middle Eastern, great food though by DarquessSC2 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 1:09pm)
  • This'll be my first time! Went to Leeds in 2018 which is my only previous camping festival experience so looking forward to it by DarquessSC2 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 6:36pm)
  • Trying to quit smoking so been using vapes. Most places seem to sell Elf Bars so that's what I've been using (please don't judge me lmao, I know the reputation but like I say, easy to get)-however I have just tried the menthol one and it is honestly the worst tasting vape I've ever experienced. Some of the super sweet ones are way too sickly but this menthol flavour just tastes like chewing on balloons๐Ÿคฎ by DarquessSC2 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 7:52am)
  • It's probably not a bad idea tbf, just need to find somewhere reliable- I like the fact that elf bar are at least a 'brand name' of sorts, whereas it feels like a lot of the custom vapes are more 'wild west' Also, can you get vape juice for mods that has nicotine salts like elf bars and juul has? I find nicotine salt vape has a much better/more satisfying throat hit than the older plain style vape juice which just doesn't seem to satisfy by DarquessSC2 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 10:04am)
  • It's definitely frustrating. I basically never use cash unless I'm in a black cab - and I never get in a black cab unless I have cash And of course, the only time I get one is when it's right there so quicker than ordering an uber by DarquessSC2 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 11:11am)
  • Was the Rangers fans trying to disturb the sleep of the Eindhoven team ahead of their game this evening. Happens like clockwork the night before a European game at Ibrox. Could see the light from my flat in Finnieston by DarquessSC2 (Tue 16th Aug 2022 2:45am)
  • 3 days home, 2 in the office. I enjoy hybrid but would definitely prefer at least 3 in the office - though I have the advantage of being walking distance to the office so by DarquessSC2 (Thu 18th Aug 2022 1:38am)
  • Subclub is ideal for what you want to want, but not sure if they've got much going on of a Sunday or Monday. Since you mentioned you like disco, Buff Club could be a shout. Not tonight but they're open tomorrow by DarquessSC2 (Sun 21st Aug 2022 10:30pm)
  • DELETED Thought I lost the keys to my flat so started full on trying to kick the door down to get into my close. I did try all the doorbells first but no luck Polis were called oops Tbf the polis were very friendly and helped me get back in the flat. Feel bad for the neighbours who called them And then went out for a fag and found my keys right by the door ffs by DarquessSC2 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 6:16am)
  • I'm doing the opposite the following weekend - flying down to Cardiff to them then there (with a stop in Belfast in between). Enjoy the gig, might see you there. As for pubs, the ones on the 'Finnieston strip' will be good on the Sunday before the gig, very close to the Hydro by DarquessSC2 (Tue 6th Sep 2022 6:34pm)
  • It's fairly simple to make - Adam Ragusea on YouTube put out a video about it recently by DarquessSC2 (Fri 9th Dec 2022 11:41pm)
  • I've been cited three times in the last 5 five years but only has to go along once. First time got out of it cos of uni, second time went along but wasn't picked, most recent time was a couple weeks ago but I'm now ineligible because of my job by DarquessSC2 (Thu 26th Jan 2023 8:47pm)
  • This Strathy is definitely known for it's business degree, in Scotland at least, but UoG probably has a bigger reputation internationally. For all UoG is technically West End rather than city centre, Glasgow's West End definitely has its own bohemian uni student vibe, and the West End is so close to the city centre anyway that in practical terms (30 minute walk or 5 minutes on the subway) I feel it's difficult to give Strath a real advantage there - especially seeing as Strath is relatively far east in city centre terms anyway (I suppose you could argue Merchant City plays a similar role for Strathclyde as the West End does for Glasgow). I'm a UofG alumnus personally, so perhaps as with sailorjack94 biased. But when I started uni, I chose the city before the uni itself, and had to choose myself between Glasgow and Strathclyde. Ultimately what decided it for me was the green space. Strath is a very city centre uni in that it's campus is a couple of 'blocks' in the concrete jungle, surrounded on all sides by busy roads and tall buildings. Glasgow Uni on the other hand literally borders one of the best parks in the city and the West End as a whole is distinctly lower density than the area around Strath by DarquessSC2 (Sat 28th Jan 2023 5:01am)
  • Right enough, if was a decade ago that the regional forces were merged into Police Scotland. Damn, makes me feel old by DarquessSC2 (Mon 13th Feb 2023 3:18pm)
  • Definitely, the cycling infrastructure in this city - this country really - is abysmal and do think improving that could make a massive difference for green transport... Well that and being able to own a bike without it instantly being stolen. I think most of the badly behaved cyclists atm are actually delivery drivers - it's them who I constantly see running reds, zooming along pavements, and almost knocking me over by DarquessSC2 (Mon 13th Feb 2023 3:26pm)

  • Do you mean the tailored adjustments to Slaters off the shelf suits, or do Slaters actually do custom tailored suits? Genuinely curious as I wasn’t of them doing the latter by DarquessSC2 (Sat 4th Mar 2023 1:33am)
  • Ooh very nice. Do you know what the pricing is like compared to more traditional tailor made suits? In the market for a new suit and was going to just go for a slaters off the shelf but depending on how much more it is I could be persuaded by DarquessSC2 (Sat 4th Mar 2023 6:18am)
  • Got caught unprepared right in the worst of it on the way home from work. Normally not a fan of getting caught in the rain but that storm was so much you can't help but just laugh and enjoy by DarquessSC2 (Sat 17th Jun 2023 4:16am)
  • Could hear them in bellahouston park. Good gig by DarquessSC2 (Sat 24th Jun 2023 12:35am)
  • Oran Mor prices aren't terrible compared to some nearby places so wouldn't be a bad shout. Brewhaus on Queen Margaret Drive (the Trainspotting pub) is fairly close and decently priced too - and they have a nice beer garden by DarquessSC2 (Thu 29th Jun 2023 1:40pm)
  • Second Mr Singh's, tasty curry and nice vibes for sitting in, with very friendly staff. Last time I was there the staff did their best to get me to take my leftovers home but very sadly had to decline as I was heading straight into town after dinner by DarquessSC2 (Sat 8th Jul 2023 10:03am)

  • Yeah this is a good take. I moved to Glasgow when I was 18, now 24, and have absolutely loved it! That said, I'm very introverted so now reaching the point where I'm feeling like I'd like to move to a nice quiet suburb on the outside of the city rather than living right in the midst of it - though unlike you, I'll be staying in easy commuting distance of Glasgow, mainly cos I work here full time Glasgow has great opportunities, and is a great atmosphere, but it is full on by DarquessSC2 (Mon 10th Jul 2023 2:26pm)
  • Not a club, but a good place to get a beer past 12 is one of the casinos - there's the Genting right by Garage plus a couple of Grosvenor's, one in merchant city and one by Atlantic Quay by DarquessSC2 (Sun 16th Jul 2023 1:00am)
