  • *laughs in Helensburgh* ours is every three weeks for general waste, but every two for recycling. And that's IF they have staff available. It's a joke. by Felidae15 (Mon 15th Feb 2021 3:36pm)
  • I feel sorry for you engineering wise. I used to work at Scott Wilson (then taken over by URS), and ABC was one of the most awkward to deal with, and I was only admin! by Felidae15 (Mon 15th Feb 2021 6:06pm)
  • Forgot to say, some of the industrial estates along the Leven have good "sci-fi"/post-apocalyptic landscapes. by Felidae15 (Fri 19th Feb 2021 9:49pm)
  • Please be careful along old docks and buildings etc. They can be far more decrepit than they first appear. I've been near places where people have fallen through rotten wood and crumbling closes. Not a pleasant experience having to explain to Strathclyde's finest why you and your pals are dressed up in cosplay, whilst applying first aid to one of them because you ignored the safety signs...🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ by Felidae15 (Fri 19th Feb 2021 9:48pm)
  • I live in Helensburgh, and worked in Glasgow for several jobs over the years. The "you live too far away is rubbish" because employers should realise that the majority of the workforce commutes to Glasgow from outside areas. The only reason they could use the "too far away" excuse, is if the position has a shift rotation that makes it impossible for you to do. by Felidae15 (Sun 21st Feb 2021 4:18am)
  • Loved flying on the A380. It was like sitting on a very smooth train ride. 100% recommend it if you're travelling on an airbus route.💖 by Felidae15 (Sun 21st Feb 2021 1:41pm)
  • It's the same down in Balloch, Dumbarton and Helensburgh. The air just reeks. by Felidae15 (Sat 25th Sep 2021 12:14am)
  • That's actually a good price if the placement you've gone to is fully trained in all aspects including hair type, which installation format is best (some sensitive scalps struggle with the excess weight of extensions), aftercare, etc. If it's somebody in a flat claiming to do them for £50 and they have no training, I'd run a mile. by Felidae15 (Fri 15th Jul 2022 9:05pm)
  • One of my pals went to a lassie in the south side, many, many years ago, and the absolutey wrecked her hair. They used cheap SUPERGLUE which had no flexibility, so the bond just snapped and took the natural hair with it. Yes, it was 20 years ago, but she paid £100. At that point, the salon near Queen Street station, was doing them properly for £150. She didn't want to pay the extra for trained professionals.🤦‍♀️ She never got her money back, and it took her ages to grow out her hair. by Felidae15 (Fri 15th Jul 2022 9:09pm)
  • Is there still disabled parking there, or has GCC turned that into a money grabbing exercise, just like they're putting barriers into the car parks that used to have free disabled parking to charge people ridiculous amounts to park for 5 minutes. Before anyone comes for me, I was a regular cyclist and public transport user until I broke my back and seriously damaged my spine - discs, vertebrae, nerves etc. I'm permanently on crutches, can barely walk the length of myself let alone trying to navigate Sauchiehall Street. The injury also left me with bowel and bladder issues (no sensation and doubly incontinent), which means that I need to know I can get to a loo quickly to change if I soil myself. One of my friends said they were going for a wander around Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, and I felt so jealous because I'm so limited now. I used to love commuting to work on the train - put my headphones in and drift off to sleep. Or just go up on the train for some shopping, or to meet friends etc. Can't do it anymore. My bike is in the shed, the last time I rode it was three years ago.😢 I'm all for cycle routes etc. If it makes things safer for cyclists and pedestrians, plus encourages people to get out more, and obviously the environmental benefits are a huge part, too. by Felidae15 (Wed 9th Nov 2022 9:23am)
  • Can you dm me your email address please? Got a friend who's interested, but isn't on here, and wants to get in contact. I did try to send you a dm, but told me it wouldn't send. X by Felidae15 (Tue 29th Nov 2022 3:18pm)
  • Hi, I can't open your message. I've even tried sending a message from myself to you again, but I'm not sure if it went through again. Thanks. X by Felidae15 (Sun 4th Dec 2022 7:19pm)
  • Don't forget that YOU will still need to do a tax return every year, even if you are PAYE. by Felidae15 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 7:09am)
  • People have the mistaken belief that if they'rein a left turn only, or right turn only lane, there's no necessity for indicators. Given that GCC roads department is fucking LOUSY at maintaining lane/arrow markings, nobody has a bloody clue. It's the same with the police - they don't believe in indicators. As much as I understand and respect they have a difficult job, I have no qualms pulling them up on their lack of use when i see the driver in person (obviously I don't follow them and pull them over). I'm surprised I haven't been lifted, yet. 🤣 The MOD police, down here at the base, are notorious for not using indicators, and for anyone in Glasgow and the surrounding areas who commute to Faslane, knows how messed up the lane divisions are, ESPECIALLY at rush hour. by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:48pm)
  • 🤣🤣🤣🤣 by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:52pm)
  • I'm sure that rule was made by my dad. I can't drive just now due to spinal injury issues, so he occasionally drives me to appointments. The amount of times we've nearly been in accidents because of his "I don't need to use them if there's no-one behind me, or I'm in the correct lane" excuse, is ridiculous. I keep telling him there's other motorists around him, and I know he passed his test when dinosaurs still existed, but he needs to gene up on the highway codes. 🤦‍♀️ by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:52pm)
  • I hate driving in Glasgow. I'm so glad I don't work there anymore (not that I can work or drive at all right now because of spinal injuries). With the addition of extra bus lanes, and the forever changing one way/two way streets, lack of disabled parking bays, and the psychotic white van men, I don't think could cope with it anymore. I mostly used to commute on public transport, until my body said "not an option anymore". Even then, as a pedestrian, it was terrible. I forget which junction it is - t used to be near McCormack's music shop - FOUR sets of pedestrian crossing. No diagonal option. If you wanted to cross, you had to wait at least five minutes at certain points in the day before you made it to where you wanted. The cars stopping on the actual crossings themselves can be blamed on both the timing of the lights, AND drivers being two inches off of each other's bumpers. by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:03pm)
  • Same. Loved walking round it as a wean. Paddling down at the steps and swimming out to "monkey island". I still have no idea why we called it that. Did you ever jump of the bridge into the water when the tide was up? Did it once, miscalculated and did the worst bellyflop of my life. I looked liked I'd been smacked by a bus. by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:09pm)
  • Oh my god, my pal, Dawn, her dad and my sister were walking along where there's a "secret" beach - the one with the wee grey wall above it, and Dawn just disappeared right into a sinkhole in the sand! We managed to get her out, but it was fucking terrifying. We lived in the Haldane at the time (80s)- as in the old Haldane which had closes rather than the new houses the housing associations. I think I was maybe 8 or 9. It was the year we moved to Rosshead to a bigger flat. by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:44pm)
  • Are you still in the area? Did you go to VOLA? by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:47pm)
  • I stopped swimming out to Monkey Island the day a massive pike brushed against me while I was treading water. Those vicious big bastards would congregate there to get the ducks during breeding season. *shudder* by Felidae15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:46pm)
  • Was it Walker Love they sent after you? They often choose to ignore evidence/ cancellation of council fines/errors. I remember years ago someone down my way took them to court over a "false" debt and actually won back not only the money he'd paid out, but compensation for "emotional distress". by Felidae15 (Mon 27th Mar 2023 12:40am)
  • I have a blue badge (bb), which in Scotland, allows you to park on single/double yellow lines (the exception being if it's a loading area - most council areas forbid bb parking at those spots). Personally, when I was/am able to drive ( I'm housebound at the moment due to spinal injuries flaring up), I prefer parking in designated space so as not to inconvenience pedestrians or other traffic. by Felidae15 (Mon 27th Mar 2023 12:59am)
  • Last time I was on the A380 was Glasgow to Dubai, then one of the 777s the Singapore. I love going to Singapore. The A380 felt so comfortable that I had no issues with my back seizing up. We hit turbulence a couple of hours into the flight from Glasgow, and it felt as though it were no more than a bumpy train ride. by Felidae15 (Mon 27th Mar 2023 1:21am)
  • Strangely enough, I received a letter today chasing me for a debt of £37 (window cleaning) I paid over 7 years ago! My stuttering and tics have been terrible today, but I called the company and told them that not only were their accounts wrong, and I could prove it, but if I hadn't paid the bill, they couldn't chase me for it because the statute of limitations is 5 years in Scotland. Not once had they contacted me in the past 7 years, which meant the statute time didn't "reset". The lad said "I've only been here a few weeks, and was told to issue debt letters for old debts, can I get the owner to call you?" Told him I'd email proof of payment, including screenshot of bank statement cropped so that only their details were visible, plus email receipt from the company. As my stutter was bad today, I'd rather not speak to his boss. Two hours later, I received an email apology, plus the offer of a free window cleaning! I don't think I'll take them up on it! 🤣 by Felidae15 (Wed 29th Mar 2023 3:24am)
  • Exactly. by Felidae15 (Wed 29th Mar 2023 4:14pm)
  • I worked for one of the companies that would have dealt with this. All the meetings, plans, budget etc. bloody wasted. 🤬 by Felidae15 (Wed 29th Mar 2023 4:26pm)
  • There was a video a few years ago of a girl being taken the long /wrong route home, and she was getting quite scared, so she called the company, and they chastised the driver saying it should only be £20. The driver was trying to overcharge her, and threatened to drop her in an area she didn't know. https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/15389062.video-listen-to-terrified-girl-arguing-with-taxi-driver-who-locked-car-doors-and-demanded-she-pay-higher-fee/ by Felidae15 (Mon 1st May 2023 8:58am)
  • I totally read this im a Glaswegian accent. It's the "square goes". I've never heard it said outside of Scotland. Lol by Felidae15 (Tue 10th Oct 2023 3:28am)
