Does anyone know about the Steamie that would have been located across the street? I am assuming it would have been near the corner of Dumbarton road and Anderson street? What about a general layout of a typical Steamie.

Thank you! That sounds about right. Is the pronunciation correct factoring in accent?

Wow that is an awesome reference. I especially love the floor-plan. I tried reconstructing it from her verbiage but it didn’t quite pan out.

You are probably correct in me hearing singlelane based upon my American ear Wow that is depressing. I know they were extremely basic. The “Murphy bed in the wall” one a alcove was something she has spoke off. I think they became slums. But I think they were just lower class residence when they lived there. Yes, she recalls the toilet at the end of the close. She still uses the term “spend a penny” As the the toilet door was coin operated

That is a nice site, lots of industrial photos. Not sure she will be able to remember those places but I find them interesting. Thank you

So is there any area code /local number combinations the are 11 digit then? Yes + is the e.164 standard. I was just curious about the 10 and 11 digit rules he had built.
