  • Partick/thornwood/broomhill I live here and I love it! All transport nearby and lovely parks nearby. The uni is a short walk away. by Gangebear (Thu 21st May 2020 7:08pm)
  • Yes good idea, and I would hope to include them also if it proves successful. Adults are almost a lost cause, so I suppose the only way around it is to "nip it in the bud" as such. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 6:41pm)
  • Yes thanks for the idea! I think games are a solid source for gaining children's attention. Although I wonder does it stick long-term. I suppose what has stuck with me from childhood are the "guilt trip" images that are stuck in my mind of seeing a sad earth cartoon walking around on MTV in the 90s, sweating to signify global warming and such. Animals stuck in litter also. But its quite depressing having to deliver that image to children so I would be happy if I could avoid it until necessary! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 6:45pm)
  • Hi there teacher, I have a question. Is there much red tape in regards to the uptake of these from schools? I haven't come across anything to say I need permission from the council to do this, if you know what I mean. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 7:28pm)
  • Oh yes wow, very impactful! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 7:25pm)
  • Yes great food for thought about the idea "fading" and it not being "cool". I'll take this on aswell, thank you! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 7:53pm)
  • Aww such a sweet story and great ideas, thanks so much! If only Scotland followed the same ideas.. Maybe I could start a petition to get the litter fine made much higher .. because who is loosing in that situation? Only the litter culprit! The council gets more money and hopefully it would have an impact on people! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 7:51pm)
  • Thanks for this point, I will try my best to depict it as being absolutely disgusting to partake in littering, I'll try my best to be cool in the hopes they will believe me .. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 7:58pm)
  • Thanks for the good wishes! Yes unfortunately scare tactics did the make the strongest impact on me and are permanently burned in my brain so we might need to use an element of this. I'll have to weather it carefully! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:01pm)
  • I absolutely agree, and we will be educating children to stay away from single use plastics if possible. I will highlight they are a big issue. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:08pm)
  • Great idea, thank you! I can leave this implemented with the school after we finish the workshop. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:32pm)
  • I love the idea and I was also thinking of something like this is needed to have a vast impact. I suppose if this were to "take off" or gain any sort of traction for us, we could look into getting the fine made higher with a petition and go to Glasgow live or someone similar and try to organise a day like you suggest to involve all schools .. like a national litter day .. hopefully that would make an impact. We have a national competition called 'tidy towns" in Ireland and its such a success, towns compete by improving their towns to win the prize each year and schools always get involved. It's a great idea. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:37pm)
  • You know, I think you are completely right with this one. If done in the right way, I think this will be a very successful tactic amongst young people in Glasgow. Thank you for the idea. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:41pm)
  • Note taken, and you're completely right. I'm not the worst so fingers crossed I don't do an absolute Flanders on the day! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 8:55pm)
  • Yes great idea thank you!! We all now how proud Glasgow people are, so we will definitely reference this. Hopefully we could bring it countrywide one day, which would be amazing. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:00pm)
  • Yes, you're so right that it does align with bad diet foods, and I would even say more deprived areas which we will try to target. Thanks for your good deeds!! If only there were more people that think like that. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:24pm)
  • Wow great ideas. Sounds like Canada has their shit together. I suppose in my mind this will start as a workshop and hopefully grow enough for us to implement it nationwide.. all it takes is an idea to start off with I suppose. It's gotta start somewhere, so we're gonna try anyway! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:22pm)
  • Yes from starting this thread, I'm starting to realise this is the case now. It is complex and we will have to tailor it to this definitely. Thanks for your input! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:26pm)
  • Yes, being proactive is always the answer!! I will take this idea on board and I will definitely try to educate the headteachers on the issue also. by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:33pm)
  • Thank you so much for this!! I really do agree with widespread education of a generation to eradicate the issue. I would hope this starts as a workshop but hopefully evolves to be big enough to implement further, fingers crossed! by Gangebear (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 9:45pm)
  • I look forward to it! Thanks for your point, I completely agree. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:17pm)
  • Thanks for your input! That's interesting about the knock on effect that has happened in Ireland. I'll be sure to research as much as possible and hopefully try make some changes with the council also. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:28pm)
  • Wow I did not know this, I think it is a step in the right direction. It seems to work a treat in places like Germany. Thanks so much for the link. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:33pm)
  • Hi, that is brilliant, I sent you a DM, thanks! by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:31pm)
  • Litter walks are a great idea, hopefully we can leave the schools with a plan with ideas such as these on how to keep at the issue at the forefront in students minds and to truly ingrain it. Thanks! by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:30pm)
  • Great points, I'll be sure to show them the knock on effects because I know that is what has stuck with me. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:39pm)
  • Yes thanks for this! I definitely think we could show them the knock on effects in other counties. Also live the pink hippo idea! Makes it fun and enjoyable. Cheers! by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:38pm)
  • What a fun idea, younger children especially will love this! I wonder what changed from it being such a topic in schools in the 80s and 90s but such an issue now. Maybe we could organise some competition like this. Thanks! by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:35pm)
  • Thanks for the point of view. I'll try to bring it back to why it's relevant to each individual person like you suggest! by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:43pm)
  • Thanks for the kind words! I'll be sure to take on the ideas from the videos. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:42pm)
  • Hopefully we can get through to the majority, thanks for your points! Hopefully they like dolphins. by Gangebear (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 10:41pm)
