  • I used to be with Phoenix, they have a terrible reputation but it was fine for me. Now I'm with Belvoir, the service is brill and only time I've ever felt staff at a letting agent were genuinely nice and wanted to help. Very quick to respond to issues. Only problem is deposits are high compared to other agents, ours was more then 1.5 months rent. by JayAPanda (Sat 17th Apr 2021 10:47am)
  • There's all kinds of amazing places to stop if you get the Campbelltown bus. It leaves from Glasgow Central. by JayAPanda (Mon 19th Apr 2021 9:40pm)
  • Perhaps you could order lateral flow tests and take one before leaving and another when you get back. Then you can go guilt-free. by JayAPanda (Sun 16th May 2021 9:49am)
  • If you did that, you'd just get idiots wearing the opposite team's shirt and causing as much wreckage as possible by JayAPanda (Sun 16th May 2021 9:45am)
  • I asked a rangers fan about when I should get my vaccine and he said the council weren't taking out the bins because the city centre's full of junkies and where can I get a gluten-free chippy with what kind of haggis? by JayAPanda (Mon 17th May 2021 6:47pm)
  • Your neighbour's niece's sister's ex-husband's dog's fish didn't get fined for going over the boundary. They're not stopping anyone and how would they even know? by JayAPanda (Tue 18th May 2021 10:34am)

  • 🙄 by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 12:38pm)
  • Hard to have patience with Level 3 restrictions when my neighbourhood has had cases under 3 consistently for weeks and I do a lateral flow test before I go anywhere other than the park or the garage, which means the chance I could infect someone no matter where I go is exceedingly unlikely. Don't understand why they aren't pushing everyone to do lateral flow tests... That said, nothing bar a complete skyrocketing of cases is stopping me from going down south for a break in June. I've showed more than my fair share of caution. by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 12:37pm)
  • And what was the alternative? Voting for the freedom alliance and pretending this isn't happening? by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 12:44pm)
  • That's not at all what's happening, but you think another party would have handled it better? Not a chance by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 1:22pm)
  • And take lateral flow tests twice a week by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 2:23pm)
  • If all the parties fucked it up then how is "you voted for this" a useful or accurate comment? Labour wouldn't ha e dine anything different by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 2:29pm)
  • If you can't express that the large Muslim population were recently celebrating Eid without getting in "big trouble", you're probably racist by JayAPanda (Fri 21st May 2021 8:22pm)
  • This NHS Scotland page pretty clearly says 18-29 year old will be able to book vaccine appointments online from next week. Anyone heard anything about that? Source: https://invitations.vacs.nhs.scot/ by JayAPanda (Sat 22nd May 2021 12:26pm)
  • Fingers crossed! by JayAPanda (Mon 24th May 2021 8:25am)
  • The 18-29 one is just registering. We won't get appointments till the over 30s are done by JayAPanda (Mon 24th May 2021 9:03pm)
  • That's my "realistic" goal but who knows if it's actually realistic by JayAPanda (Thu 27th May 2021 2:42pm)
  • Have fun and do a lateral flow test before you go! :) by JayAPanda (Thu 27th May 2021 3:09pm)
  • I was looking for opinions on what is likely to happen today. A sample of 800 people has given me a better idea than my own (biased) perspective. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 11:39am)
  • I hope you're right!! by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:07pm)
  • Glasgow's staying in Lvl 3, she just said she's going to give an indication of when they hope to take us out (ie later) by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:17pm)
  • I'm happy with that :) by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:33pm)
  • At none of those times was a specific day announced for the level to be changed by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:38pm)
  • Don't know why everyone is freaking out - Sturgeon wouldn't announce a specific day for the move unless it was exceedingly likely to go ahead. They're not stupid, they know how it would look. It's just a five day delay, and very likely the final one. Edit: replies need to get a grip my god, you'd think we were back to full lockdown. You can wait five days after 15 months. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:35pm)
  • Because at the time they thought it would work then things continued to get worse. There is no grand conspiracy, we are fighting a highly contagious virus. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:43pm)
  • Do you think Sturgeon wanted to do that? It was exceedingly unpopular. I hated the changes at Christmas, I was in a deep depression at that time too but I'm not going to turn into a conspiracy theorist who thinks she's just doing it for some unspecified power grab that people here love to imply even though it makes no sense. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:42pm)
  • Someone tell me what the strategic advantage to Sturgeon is to announce we will be going to Level 2 next Saturday is she doesn't intend to actually do it. People here seem to think Nicola is going to commit political suicide for no reason by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:40pm)
  • Closing businesses that have just reopened causing even more harm than keeping them closed, and compliance would be even lower than what we see in Glasgow. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:49pm)
  • That wasn't last week or the week before or in September 🥴 Plus it was always data above dates, the data didn't support mvong at the predicted time so they didn't. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:46pm)
  • They're waiting to see what happens with the hospital data and if it doesn't rise significantly then we're moving down to Level 2. That's a clear reason for the extra five days. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:45pm)
  • First of all, there were 2 deaths deaths reported today. Second of all, they are waiting the full three weeks that hospital and deaths data supposedly lags behind cases. You might not like or agree with that reason, but it is a reasonable approach by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:58pm)
  • I never said people can't be frustrated - I am frustrated. I'm saying that I don't understand people who are uniquely freaking out and the commenters who think that restrictions exist because the SNP are authoritarian power-grabbers who are doing this for [insert reason that doesn't make sense] need to grt a grip. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 12:56pm)
  • I dunno, I agree that was a bad choice. Perhaps their modelling suggested they might be able to intervene within a week depending on how the cases spread. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:03pm)
  • And Texas also had a high death rate despite low population density and warm weather. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:05pm)
  • And none of those things say people can't be frustrated. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:10pm)
  • No, I'm just someone who's read the absolute bollocks that gets posted on this forum about restrictions sometimes by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:24pm)
  • Because outdoor transmission is minimal, and as disgraceful as that behaviour was, it's not the - or even one of - main reason for rising cases by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:34pm)
  • Oh no, the reddit police are coming for your rights to fearmonger about uprisings, truly we live in a 1984 world 🙄 by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:33pm)
  • That's easy for most people to say, but many people have close family and work commitments abroad. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:31pm)
  • "hardly" is a very significant difference from "never". If the borders had closed New Zealand style, community transmission would still have been rampant due to our relationship with England and the EU and people from abroad would be locked into the country. I would be agreeing with you if it were possible that this would have lead to zero covid, but it is not. We are too different from NZ. by JayAPanda (Fri 28th May 2021 1:39pm)

  • Has anyone under the 30 had their vaccine appointment yet? Someone I know in East Kilbride already got her appointment and she's only 19 by JayAPanda (Mon 31st May 2021 10:47am)
  • I'd say you don't want to live near Merchant City, the flats in that area are obscenely priced and the cheaper areas nearby are notorious for drugs. The gay scene in Glasgow is mostly nightlife so I'd say you're better to save money on rent and occasionally pay up for a late night taxi Otherwise I guess it depends on your budget! I think Partick/Whiteinch is a good one as it cheaper than Byres Road but still has direct access to town and the West End. Otherwise maybe the Southside which has a lot of culture and good transport links to the centre. by JayAPanda (Mon 31st May 2021 10:46am)
  • Finnieston and Partick are pretty close so I'd second that! I definitely think you could find something that fits all your requirements in Dumbarton Road or the surrounding area. PS: Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for any signs of damp or vermin at viewings as a lot of the tenements have these problems. by JayAPanda (Mon 31st May 2021 11:08am)
  • I wish GPs would stop saying "what do you want me to do about it?" They're trying to engage in patient-led care and give you choice, but it's phrased with such a lack of empathy. I wish they'd say "what outcome would you like from this appointment?" or "how do you think I can best help you right now?" by JayAPanda (Mon 31st May 2021 8:11pm)

  • I know this isn't exactly what you're asking for but if you want to impress the missus at home with a simple dessert, try this: Get 2 slices of toastie bread and butter both sides. Heat up a frying pan to medium high heat and place the slices in the pan. Sprinkle a large pinch of sugar, a small pinch of cinnamon and - if you like it - a little nutmeg and lemon juice onto the bread and once the buttered side is crisp, carefully flip it. Add your sugar and stuff to the crisp side now, once the second side is crispy then flip it again and char the sugar on that firdt side a little again. Chop some banana and make a sandwich with the sugar toast and hey presto! It tastes amazing trust me 😋 by JayAPanda (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 10:09pm)

  • I have a lingering worry at the moment that while we are at Level Zero, people will be travelling to England to go clubbing and bringing back lots of cases so we'll end up seeing a large jump in cases without getting the benefits of no restrictions. The worst of both worlds. by JayAPanda (Tue 20th Jul 2021 8:43am)

  • It's hard for a human to perceive relative differences in mental health. If they feel something is interfering with their life, they're going to look for the language to understand it. No need to be dismissive about that unless they're doing something actively harmful. ( from someone who is pursuing an ADHD diagnosis on the NHS atm) by JayAPanda (Tue 31st Aug 2021 9:23pm)

  • Was pretty depressing last night watching empty free electric buses head to COP26 every 10 minutes on the dot while waiting for my unreliable, expensive, packed diesel bus that only comes every 30 minutes even though its the only bus from the top of town to my fairly central area. by JayAPanda (Sat 13th Nov 2021 10:08am)
  • I was told that the doctor would phone "some time in the morning" and when he did phone, I was on the loo. I finished ASAP but he only rang for less than 30 seconds and didnt try a second time. I had to phone back to rearrange and was told I had to wait till "some time in the afternoon". • Last week, one of the Union Street Bus stops was closed but the electronic signs were still on and the closed sign was facing out to the road so I didn't notice it. Sat there for 20 mins for the bus to go past me, then had to walk to the other nearest stop at GOMA in the pouring rain with 3 heavy bags of shopping. Waited 35 more minutes for the next bus getting soaked because the stop was too busy to get under the shelter. The boxes on the gift sets I got for my family's Christmas are now damaged from the rain and I was exhausted taking almost 2 hours to get from Silverburn to Rutherglen. The worst part is that the bus stop was only closed to park a tiny digger for roadworks, which could easily have been parked in a single parking bay 5 metres down the road 🙄🙄🙄 by JayAPanda (Mon 6th Dec 2021 11:09am)

  • Hi OP, since almost no one that has commented so far seems to be queer or aware of what a gay sauna actually is, I'll add my two cents. Pretty sure there's nothing sadly. I think your best bet would be looking out for lesbian nights at the edgier queer venues, like The Poetry Club etc by JayAPanda (Sat 26th Feb 2022 10:22pm)
  • Calm down pal, it's not presumptuous, it's an actual thing that exists and it is clear what OP means as they compared it to Pipeworks which is exactly the kind of place I described. by JayAPanda (Sat 26th Feb 2022 10:32pm)
