  • The best hillwalking in Glasgow is definitely walking to the top of Gardner Street in Partick and then walking back down again. by King_Clownshoes (Fri 12th Jun 2020 7:29pm)
  • Love this, gives the Laurieston a Wild West feel. Keep 'em coming! by King_Clownshoes (Mon 29th Jun 2020 3:08am)
  • Thanks for all the replies from my supportive local community. I was going to make this a one-off, but now it looks like I've got enough venues for a tour. I'll do the vicinity of Glasgow proud, cheers! by King_Clownshoes (Wed 1st Jul 2020 11:03pm)
  • Not as far as I'm aware. I live up the road from it and trade seemed steady as usual before the closure. I'm assuming it's the Covid effect in the absence of any other info at the moment. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 5th Jul 2020 5:56pm)
  • I've been working from home for two years, having been a desk jockey my entire working life, and feel like an idiot for not making the move sooner. I guess it depends on the individual circumstances. My last office was full of empty-headed wallopers who'd have long water cooler conversations about things like their favourite type of Goodfellas pizza so I much prefer chatting to the cat. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 15th Jul 2020 12:23am)
  • Moving from Shawlands/Battlefield end, mainly because house is size of 20p piece but also for schools etc. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 15th Jul 2020 7:37pm)
  • Thanks, that's really helpful! by King_Clownshoes (Wed 15th Jul 2020 8:06pm)
  • Been looking round Orchard Park so far, seems quite nice but I've never spent any time in the area myself so don't know where's hot or where's not. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 15th Jul 2020 8:06pm)
  • Much appreciated! We're not set on any particular area yet so this is valuable info. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 16th Jul 2020 12:40am)

  • We had a lovely trip there at the weekend, then our daughter flung herself into the burn that crosses the path in a tantrum, and I called her a wee shite under my breath. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 29th Jul 2020 8:58pm)
  • Olivia Newton-Mearns had some hits in the 1980s. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 29th Jul 2020 9:16pm)
  • There were some laid out in Sleazies' doorway as a memorial for Big John last I heard. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 3rd Feb 2021 7:14pm)
  • It's a great part of town. You're close to lots of green spaces, transport links, shops that cater to virtually every need (with a giant Asda in Toryglen round the corner for anything else) and it's even got a nice pub in the Clockwork for when we're not living in Plague Town. Big events happen so rarely at Hampden that the crowds/traffics problems are not a consideration at all. Unless we're talking the Queen's Park games, but you'll have been at house parties with bigger attendance than those. Lived there for six years and have no complaints about the area at all. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 18th Feb 2021 10:28am)
  • Voltaire and Rousseau off Gibson Street is probably my favourite place on earth. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 4th Mar 2021 6:37pm)
  • According to some, there's a benevolent whispering ghost that talks to patients in Ward 27 in the Royal Infirmary. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 5th Aug 2021 3:30am)
  • Too right. I lived in a complex on Argyle Street near the Heilanman's Umbrella and coming home from work every night was like a scene from Taxi Driver. by King_Clownshoes (Tue 24th Aug 2021 1:12pm)
  • Propose drunk in your boxers in a room in a flat in Dowanhill Street after you've just had an argument about System of a Down. Worked like a charm for me. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 17th Feb 2022 4:29pm)
  • We'd been out and put MTV RAWX or whatever it's called on the telly when we got back. Chop Suey came on and I insisted it was genius, my now-wife's stance being that no, it was shite. I realised I was giving the song overly fulsome praise shortly after the argument began, but I continued to argue anyway. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 17th Feb 2022 5:33pm)

  • I lived in Mount Florida for a number of years and it was a safe, hassle-free place to live. The obvious exception would be on match days or concert evenings, but it's easy to plan around those. by King_Clownshoes (Sat 19th Mar 2022 6:45pm)
  • Don't know about Satanists, but there's allegedly a poltergeist in one of the houses on Stonelaw Road. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 20th Mar 2022 11:54pm)

  • Would spray painting giant dicks around them help? It seems to do the trick in moving a local authority's arse when it comes to potholes. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 31st Mar 2022 4:12pm)
  • We had a woman from Maid 2 Clean in for a few hours each week and she did a great job. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 10th Apr 2022 9:16pm)
  • Is there something your partner likes doing where you could all join in? I'd say if he's been clear enough in his preference for no parties, you should probably think of something else. Otherwise you're going to end up planning something for everyone else rather than him. by King_Clownshoes (Mon 2nd May 2022 6:59pm)
  • You probably want to check out the Gorbals Vampire or the House of Blood murders in Govanhill. by King_Clownshoes (Tue 26th Jul 2022 12:13am)
  • I wonder how much money would be in a hypothetical, completely unrelated gig cancellation scam with the number of people not arsed enough about the lost ticket money to chase it in any serious way. by King_Clownshoes (Sat 30th Jul 2022 8:45pm)
  • If it happens again, call them "joggers." I find that really annoys them. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 2:27am)
  • I hired Queens Park Bowling Club for the same number of people and they charged me buttons. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 28th Aug 2022 3:15am)
  • Can't remember the exact fee quoted at the time, but it was in the buttons range for what was provided. The whole venue plus bar staff for less than £100, you're probably not going to get a substantially better deal than that. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 28th Aug 2022 6:36pm)
  • The Old Hairdressers hosts film nights, but I think you'd need your own projector. Fairly certain Sleazies still has a ceiling-mounted projector. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 28th Aug 2022 7:09pm)
  • Crispy can wreak havoc with dodgy teeth. I'd maybe assume soft unless someone specifically asks for crispy. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 28th Sep 2022 11:39am)
  • In your house, maybe, but not everywhere. by King_Clownshoes (Wed 28th Sep 2022 12:57pm)

  • I went to a Halloween party where a guy was dressed in a shellsuit and baseball cap with camouflage paint on his face and holding a toy machine gun. He said he'd come as Bambo. by King_Clownshoes (Sat 15th Oct 2022 11:32am)
  • I'd imagine Walkabout might be your best bet. by King_Clownshoes (Fri 21st Oct 2022 9:15pm)
  • The Slam DJs themselves are in their early to mid 50s. I wouldn't worry about it. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 2:10pm)
  • We use a combination of a heated clothes rail and dehumidifier. That gets it done fairly quickly. by King_Clownshoes (Sun 13th Nov 2022 4:05pm)
  • I don't really know if it's any cheaper, to be honest. Our washing and drying routine is 100% designed around the idea of never ironing, ever, all other considerations be damned. by King_Clownshoes (Sat 19th Nov 2022 8:57pm)
  • It feels like it would just be chucking money in the Clyde, unfortunately. It's a noble mission, but their problem is always going to be prices for basics that turn shoppers instantly grey. by King_Clownshoes (Fri 25th Nov 2022 7:01pm)
  • Comment to boost post. I hope your friend is found safe and well soon. by King_Clownshoes (Mon 5th Dec 2022 6:27am)
  • Yeah, don't bother with new shoes. A good pair of Yak Tracks or similar and you'll be Usain Bolting down glaciers before you know it. by King_Clownshoes (Tue 6th Dec 2022 7:57am)
  • Going into the Art School for Hai Karate with £50 when it was a pound a pint and still somehow leaving with no money. by King_Clownshoes (Sat 10th Dec 2022 1:57pm)
  • I'm gonna slip and hit the ground like a dart. I can feel it in my war wound. by King_Clownshoes (Tue 13th Dec 2022 8:43am)
  • I would have been there at the same time as you. I was told about two women immediately getting the sack because they fought in the locker room over a lottery syndicate or something. There was also the rather poorly phrased "Remember - self-messing means self-cleaning" in the kitchen area to remind people to clean up after themselves, but maybe had a double meaning given some of the hard drinkers employed at the time. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 15th Dec 2022 10:20am)
  • I may have worked for the same body and had a difficult time keeping it professional when a dude called Brown Bread called up. by King_Clownshoes (Thu 15th Dec 2022 1:55pm)
  • I was at school in the 80s and 90s. We had the dreaded Mycenaean Passage to copy out, which is the boring thing ever committed to paper. by King_Clownshoes (Mon 19th Dec 2022 10:03am)
