  • it is more COP26 installation isn't it? by Marek_Vsk (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:32pm)
  • And about being a thief. Come on, I am not asking about locking tips and tricks but about the approach what to do the first thing (should I tell the police, registered and sth, so far it is, unfortunately, something that did not occur to my mind. And about being a thief. Come on, I am not asking about locking tips and tricks but about the approach to what to do the first thing (should I tell the police, bike shops or else), plus as I said I have several pictures of me and that bike. by Marek_Vsk (Fri 29th Oct 2021 9:12pm)
  • I was in the same situation (graduate, not a student anymore) and by pure luck, I managed to get sth a month ago (before COP26). But I was so sure it'd get back to normal after all those delegates are back and flats that were held for COP26 are back in the market. So is it really shitty even now? • Hi. When and where is the exact location? by Marek_Vsk (Sun 19th Dec 2021 2:58pm)
  • not yet. Actually quite new to Glasgow so excited about every tip with views by Marek_Vsk (Sun 19th Dec 2021 3:14pm)
  • thank you. Have a nice Sunday by Marek_Vsk (Sun 19th Dec 2021 3:11pm)
  • >How’s long do these take roughly. Thinking of banging out one this weekend. really recommend these websites: [https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/](https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/) (pick a hill there and you have several path options including difficulty and time) [en.mapy.cz](https://en.mapy.cz) (pick the outdoor map layer) the best map app with all the trails and contour lines etc. by Marek_Vsk (Tue 4th Jan 2022 11:52pm)
  • originally yes but has the cover and trails and outdoor things for the whole world. I am into maps and map apps and it is far the best one with good live tracking, altitude profile etc. by Marek_Vsk (Wed 5th Jan 2022 3:50pm)
  • But why not Tchai ovna itself? It is a wee cozy place. by Marek_Vsk (Tue 11th Jan 2022 2:39pm)
  • no, you need to be a student to get a student flat. It is not possible to avoid ti by Marek_Vsk (Sat 15th Jan 2022 3:29pm)
  • Thank you for the tips. Yeah, also joining walk clubs is an option (if the car idea will not work). Just worried I might have different pace and goals (and also know some parts of Highlands more than others) by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:22pm)
  • I have actually looked into car clubs. But the ones I searched (co-wheels) requires UK driving licence which I do not have (have EU which is ok for car rentals, but not car sharing clubs). by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:20pm)
  • Oh, it would not be the first car (just the first car in the UK). I mean the one back home was a family one but I know how to take care of it and used it frequently. But not sure about getting an old used one. And I have a good job and work-life balance but really want to be out in nature if not every, then every second weekend so it is not like one, two road trips per year. But yeah, makes sense what you write (that even considered everything, car rentals could be the best option after all) by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:25pm)
  • I mean I have this idea in my head to have the nice older car with trunk always loaded with camp gear and with being always ready to go up north when I have that time. The car where I will not care about paintwork scratches. So is it £1500 just too few for a reliable car? by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:33pm)
  • thanks for the answer. Yeah, I used to rent a couple of times and I definitely know it is sth I'd like to do more often, especially now with more free time on weekends. But it's a helpful insight about Brexit/covid car market state now. And those cars being total gamble scares me most. Maybe just stick to rentals and get some proper car when will have more savings and stuff. Thank you by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:38pm)
  • thank you. this mot history checker is super useful and had not idea it exists by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:51pm)
  • thank you. this mot history checker is super useful and had not idea it exists by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 9:51pm)
  • Yeah, it means "something". I am not a native speaker but I see it everywhere and adopted it a while ago for brief internet chats haha by Marek_Vsk (Thu 20th Jan 2022 10:53pm)
  • no, I am not Polish. But I think I came across these abbreviations many times in academic/technical literature (also with sb for somebody etc.) by Marek_Vsk (Fri 21st Jan 2022 3:52pm)
  • But maybe it is just the case of recent years and being often in communication in English with my friends from different countries. But anyway, thanks for the heads up, I should maybe think twice before using different kinds of abbreviations I am not sure if they can be understood by Marek_Vsk (Fri 21st Jan 2022 3:55pm)
  • I am slightly over 25 so it should be alright. But I was counting if I'd want to rent every second weekend, it really adds up. Plus insurance etc. These car share programs seem even less convenient money wise as you pay by a mile then. They are really useful within the city but not for those outdoor trips I have in mind. But this discussion helped a lot by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:46am)
  • hmm, maybe it would make more sense but it is not for me to decide as sth is being frequently used in dictionaries or technical/academic literature (for defining, describing terminology etc.) That's probably where I have taken it from (and using it in chats). But I should not probably use it even in less formal Reddit posts https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sth by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:53am)
  • Thank you, I did. Unfortunately, they only accept UK licences (I have an EU driving licence) but was checking how difficult is for me to exchange for UK one. These car clubs seem super handy, but I was counting just a brief Highlands weekend trip let's say not Sutherland but somewhere around Fort William and it really adds up as you then pay by the mile. These car clubs seem super handy for short trips within towns but in my case it is still even better to rent a car from rental agency for Sat - Sun. by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:50am)
  • haha so true. That's why I was asking about that specific £1500 budget. How safe it might be by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:56am)
  • yes, thank you. I was thinking about it and it is definitely something I am considering. The state of roads is alright I think (I am there quite often with those rent cars), for all those lochs, glens and hills there is always the doable road to the parking lot. But that density of garages etc. scares me you are right. That was also behind the meaning of this post. If £1500 old car is something I can "trust" by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:55am)
  • this is helpful video, thank you by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 4:01am)
  • Can I ask you about how approx (just a range or something) you pay insurance and road tax for 2004 Astra? by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 4:00am)
  • Not worrying about scratches is definitely something I have in mind and the reason why I want to get some old car. Many times I have rented some super shiny new white car (where they told me I am the first one to drive it). and even though I paid for extra insurance you never know when the small stone or branch will get on it. plus I do not mind about comfort or the speed of the car. by Marek_Vsk (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 3:59am)
  • When I was working part-time in Holiday Inn they were two or three 17 years old (I think I remember one was even 16) working in food and beverage (collecting orders, running with food etc.) so would definitely try these and similar chain hotels. I think it is an overall nice experience plus some tips if lucky. by Marek_Vsk (Sun 23rd Jan 2022 1:15am)
  • bloody brilliant idea. So much welcomed. Just started to live my more "Adult" late twenties life in new city so this is much welcomed by Marek_Vsk (Tue 25th Jan 2022 3:25am)
  • Arrochar & Tarbet train station and you have few munros super close and Ben Arthur (Cobbler) is one of the most beautiful munros in here. But guess it is not the weather and length of daylight for it yet by Marek_Vsk (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 6:10pm)
  • Great idea. Count me in by Marek_Vsk (Sun 6th Feb 2022 6:56pm)
  • I am doing Deliveroo and Uber Eats part-time on a bike. I was doing it in Edinburgh for a year or so and now in Glasgow from September. I am working now elsewhere but was doing evening and late nights including Fridays and Saturdays, sometimes till 3 am (also on New Year's eve). Never had any issues and cycling through the city centre and Sauchiehall Street really often. I have a brand backpack. I mean those stories might be true or I am not saying that did not happen but never had any bad experience with party-goers or anyone. If you like cycling and need some cash on a side (I was doing around 15-20 hours a week) it might good part-time job for you. by Marek_Vsk (Sun 6th Feb 2022 7:12pm)
  • thanks, well I might use the service of those cunts. But tbh usually a lot of people cannot make it or change their mind the last day and before these FB events were a place to get last-minute to resell but as I wrote, do not think it is a thing now. by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 6:02pm)
  • There are but depends on the site that sells tickets (and for this case, it seems no one uses it for Seeticket). But usually, there were a bunch of people (even dozens I would say) trying to sell on a day or few days max prior to the gig on that FB event for that gig (no one uses FB for that now) so yeah, I was hoping there must be some groups when for example one friend could not do it and they would resell it. guess there is not other option that to do it outside venue (Barrowland) now but was asking if that really happens and I should try my luck to go there by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 6:29pm)
  • They support only some ticket sites and not the one that concert goes through though by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 6:36pm)
  • Thanks, did not about this. Currently no ticket for that event I want to go but set my alert there. Cheers! by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 6:44pm)
  • Yeah, that is also good take. Thanks by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 8:20pm)
  • Thank you, I was wondering whether it worked like this for anyone or is it a thing in here. Great tip! by Marek_Vsk (Wed 16th Feb 2022 10:25pm)
