  • Yeah I bought my flat in 2015 and I am shiting myself about subsidence, additional time spent at home has meant I’ve been staring at every wall convinced I can see cracks or can feel movement in the floor. My upstairs neighbour had a home report and sold fairly recently and his was fine, but I’m still losing sleep over it. I don’t know how to assess or know if it’s actually an issue either. by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 4th Mar 2021 1:04pm)
  • It’s defo just hairline cracks, like I’ve peered at them loads and can see they are just surface level, I’m just convincing myself I can feel movement in the floors too, but again my neighbours who have been here for decades are adamant that’s all fine and just how it is with tenement flooring. We don’t have a factor and everyone is great about just chipping in where possible, but obviously a massive issue like subsidence would be another matter. by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 4th Mar 2021 1:23pm)
  • It sounds like their maw was just worried sick and looking for a finger to point/embarrassed that the kids caused such a fuss. 12 year old nodding the train isn’t a big deal at all. by NovelEntertainment95 (Mon 22nd Mar 2021 6:19pm)
  • If they hid I reckon they’ll just have wanted to piss about or thought it was a carry on. I’d wager they done that and didn’t expect their maw to be quite so upset or to call the police so had to bullshit a story. by NovelEntertainment95 (Mon 22nd Mar 2021 6:20pm)
  • This is the type of thing my maw would 100% have got crazy indignant about and made a giant scene out of having a bit of a red neck, lol. I could also buy that the train staff were meant to do a thorough walk through and either didn’t do it or done a half arsed one and the kids avoided the staff. by NovelEntertainment95 (Tue 23rd Mar 2021 8:40am)
  • Sorry I’m totally late to replying to this, I don’t use this account often. There defo is creaking floorboards but I’ve been here about a decade and would expect wear and tear. There’s small hairline cracks at the top of the walls but nothing deep if that makes sense. I definitely need to get it confirmed one way or another and I’ve actually been trying to chase various estate agents I know for an address I could contact so if you happen to have one I would be extremely grateful. If it isn’t subsidence then I’d gladly pay money to know that, and if it is I suppose I’m fucked. :) by NovelEntertainment95 (Fri 16th Apr 2021 1:09pm)
  • Not the OP but I’ve found that a few of my floorboards are becoming loose/bouncing and I’m just biding my time to get them all replaced cos I know it’ll cost a bomb. I’ve been freaking my nut about subsidence but could it just be wear and tear? Sorry- not who you were responding to and pelting you with questions! by NovelEntertainment95 (Fri 16th Apr 2021 1:07pm)
  • There are some cracks but at the surface of that makes sense ie they don’t run deep, hairline I guess you’d call them. It could just be lockdown talking and my bf is adamant it’s fine but I just need someone professional to tell me that so I don’t end up screwed, lol. by NovelEntertainment95 (Fri 16th Apr 2021 2:21pm)
  • Yeah you’re not the first to say this, it’s just that coupled with movement in the floors that’s driving me mad. My upstairs neighbour sold their flat during lockdown and had a survey, home report etc that all came out ok which I assume means mines would be ok as we are the same building. I just need to cough up to someone to get it in writing so I can stop greeting about it. by NovelEntertainment95 (Fri 16th Apr 2021 2:38pm)

  • I haven’t been myself but I imagine for a lot of people they made their reservation a while back and got excited for seeing their pals and decided rain wasn’t going to deter them. Queuing for two hours is mental, I’d have hoped the pub would just start turning folk away for the sake of the staff but I guess not. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 28th Apr 2021 10:51am)
  • It’s just daft cos if they get outbreaks at the pub they’re humped financially, their due diligence is the bare minimum they can do. I really hoped this would give the public a bit of a shake up in terms of how they view hospitality staff but sorely doubt it. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 28th Apr 2021 11:55am)
  • Yeah is their owner not meant to be a nightmare as well by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 28th Apr 2021 3:03pm)
  • In my heart of hearts I don’t see festivals or big gig things happening this year, unfortunately. Im sure it’s insurance reasons that they’re postponing and rescheduling but I don’t think it’s a realistic reschedule date by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 29th Apr 2021 11:06pm)
  • Friend could also be a carer which might have boosted her up the list or her health board might be slightly further along than yours. The covid helpline can assist but I do think we’re making big gains. Even if everyone around me is vaccinated but me I can breathe a bit easier. by NovelEntertainment95 (Mon 3rd May 2021 5:28pm)
  • Yeah but if some prick starts a fight it’s more mileage for them to throw about. It’s a pain in the arse for staff as well mind I used to hate having to do it on football days by NovelEntertainment95 (Mon 3rd May 2021 5:26pm)
  • It’ll get to you don’t worry. I get that it’s frustrating. by NovelEntertainment95 (Tue 4th May 2021 9:35am)
  • I’ve heard of a few places being absolutely rammed and I obviously get being busy to capacity cos everyone is dying to get out but it smacks of management probs piling in as many numbers as possible without considering that the staff don’t normally do table service all the time. Sounds like a rotten run of luck for you. I haven’t been out yet but haven’t heard anything too bad from pals who’ve been out. by NovelEntertainment95 (Tue 4th May 2021 9:01pm)
  • That sounds great, given them a message to see if books etc are what they’re after. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 5th May 2021 12:19pm)
  • Yeah it’s exactly what I’m hoping to avoid, landing loads of crap on their door when they don’t have room or use for it, and I know a few places had to request that donations stop cos they were up to their eyes in stuff they couldn’t sell. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 5th May 2021 12:19pm)
  • I thought of that but I’ve literally got fifty or so books Im chucking out. I did think of just putting them out on the street and saying take one but I don’t know how well that goes round my bit. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 5th May 2021 2:10pm)

  • The Ark used to have outdoor screens but I’m not sure if they still do. It’s to be pishing it down Saturday I believe but it used to be under cover in parts of the beer garden by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 6th May 2021 7:33pm)

  • I’ve worked for a counselling line and not being a talker is fine, and a lot of people call up a few times and build up a confidence to speaking eventually. There also might be webchat options available which reduces the pressure somewhat as well. by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 12th May 2021 11:02am)
  • I saw Neil Ward a few years ago and thought he was great, although it might not be fitting for these issues in particular by NovelEntertainment95 (Wed 12th May 2021 11:02am)
  • In my experience yeah you’ll need to book. by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 13th May 2021 12:41pm)
  • I don’t *think* it is, my bf called and it read like he was just being told when his already allocated appointment was, not queue jumping as such. Also, the numbers are much higher in Glasgow than elsewhere so the priority is ramping everything out quicksmart anyway by NovelEntertainment95 (Tue 18th May 2021 6:06pm)
  • Yeah it’s given him peace of mind it’s in the offing even if it isn’t very soon so it was worth the call by NovelEntertainment95 (Tue 18th May 2021 6:14pm)
  • He probably just means three folk in front of him before the barrier. by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 20th May 2021 7:44am)
  • From prior experience with this it’ll maybe come down to facto decisions / your neighbours being sound/ you being sound. I know of a couple who had a tenement flat with a shared garden that they’d let their dog wander round for a piss which was technically prohibited but the neighbours just allowed it, until the dug started doing a shite and they left it behind. I’d say you’ll be fine for the dog in your own property but might not be allowed to have it round the back. by NovelEntertainment95 (Thu 24th Jun 2021 3:20pm)
