  • Well this is super helpful thank you. I’m working at the University of Glasgow. So ideally looking for anywhere with a direct commute under 30mins, that’s a nice safe area with shops. by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 9:22am)
  • Ah ok, so that rules Dennistoun out then. Yeah there’s always the gap between Google’s travel estimates and real life. Cheers for setting me straight. by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 9:29am)
  • How are Ibrox and Cessnock to live in? I’ve heard some mixed things. by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 9:32am)
  • Have to admit I already live on the outskirts of a city now and the technically short commute frequently ends up being 45mins to an hour to get to any of the places I want to hangout in after work. Which means I end up being lazy and not socialising as much. Not super great when moving to a new city alone. I think I might just try to find something a little closer. I’ve looked at Woodlands, which seems perfect but I missed out on both the places, but haven’t seen anything come up in Anniesland or North Kelvinside yet. by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 9:53am)
  • That sounds perfect for anytime I have a couple too many drinks in the West End and need to walk back 😂 by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 10:12am)
  • Cheers for all this! If there’s a direct bus from Shawlands I might give it more of a look. Couldn’t decide if Queens Park was a nice place, as when googled it came up with very mixed things. But I’ll give it more of a proper look now. by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 8th Jul 2021 10:57am)
  • How hard was finding a place in September? by OddEntertainer6556 (Thu 15th Jul 2021 4:53pm)
  • I didn’t actually know this, as most the places I’ve been looking at have said 6 month minimum in the ad. So this is helpful. I guess this will be my backup plan, to move just anywhere for a month in September if nothing else comes up that I can grab. I wonder though, if I did do this would the landlord be an arse and keep my deposit? (I know legally they’re not allowed too, but it happens all the time in England) by OddEntertainer6556 (Sat 17th Jul 2021 11:50am)
  • Renting in England can be absolutely rubbish so this is encouraging. Cheers for being so informative. by OddEntertainer6556 (Sat 17th Jul 2021 3:18pm)
  • I’m not autistic but I am dyslexic and have experienced difficulties finding casual work in the past. I just thought you might like to know this isn’t personal. The job market is impossible at the moment and is very competitive at the best of times. And interviews are confusing and horrible for everyone. It’s not just you being bad at it. For every job there are tens of willing and desperate applicants. I would suggest looking very locally and using the fact that you are local as a main selling point. That or focus on jobs that fit your skill set instead of a random shop job that could be done by most people. The job market is hard at the moment, so best of luck and know you aren’t alone. by OddEntertainer6556 (Fri 23rd Jul 2021 3:23pm)
