  • Thanks very much! I'm not much of a big party gal, so I'm all good for the 'student life' I got that out of my system during undergrad. Did you work during your masters? I currently have a part time weekend job, work full time for a charity doing research and am currently applying for another part time position with the civil service, so a little hectic. Going back to uni I'm massively cutting down my hours to maybe just 16 hours a week from home, and if I get the civil service job I intended to chuck my shitty nightshift weekend job. I know it would still be a hella lot, but manageable...? The website says "You'll have the opportunity to complete a client-based project as a part of your dissertation research", so I'm guessing this will take up my time from the exams finishing until dissertation deadline. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 18th Aug 2020 1:34pm)
  • Ah lovely thank you. My course is Data Science for Politics & Policymaking, I don't know if there will maybe be some elements similar to your course then? I was just unsure because a friend of mine who has just graduated from MSc Psychology at Strathclyde had her dissertation and things handed in end of June/July. My course has 6 core classes and I choose 1 of 2 optional classes, which I have already done. How many days a week were you in classes? by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 18th Aug 2020 1:41pm)
  • Thats cool you got the choice of dissertation adviser, in my undergrad (different uni) we just got who we got! Fortunately I got the adviser I wanted anyway, but I know some folk were really f\*cked due to their advisers not actually having the specific knowledge to do with some of their dissertations. Thanks for commenting! And good luck with your dissertation, I'm sure you'll smash it, just don't take any nonsense from your adviser! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 18th Aug 2020 1:44pm)
  • Noted. I'm currently working full time with an extra part time job. Cutting down the hours for my full time one when I go back, but I'm also currently in the process of another job application, so I guess I'll just need to take it one day at a time and see how I manage. Could I ask, just because you say you done data analytics, how hard the 'data science' part is to get a hang of? I have no computer science experience whatsoever, so there is a few classes I'm a little worried for, like "Database Fundamentals", "Machine Learning for Data Analytics", "Big Data Technologies". I would imagine it will be very basic what they are teaching, and of course in the context of policy, so hopefully that will make it a bit easier for me to grasp. I am just worried I'm going bombbbb hard in these classes because of my lack of technological know-how. (Just to be clear though, the course did only required a "First or upper second-class Honours degree, or equivalent, in social science" for this module) by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 18th Aug 2020 2:14pm)
  • Ah thank you so much, I will definitely keep that in mind if I struggle. Part of me does think maybe I should have selected to do the course part time, though I really wanting to emigrate soon(ish) which is making want to just get it over with (that sounds apathetic, I’m very much looking forward to the course but you know what I mean!) Do you mind me asking what your course is? by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 18th Aug 2020 3:19pm)
  • Ah thank you so much! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 19th Aug 2020 11:27am)
  • Thank you :) by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 19th Aug 2020 11:33am)
  • Thanks so much, I'll look at these! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 19th Aug 2020 11:35am)
  • All I have been able to do so far is register and pick the one optional class I have, aside from that I’ve not had anything! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Sun 23rd Aug 2020 8:56pm)
  • It is frustrating feeling in the dark about what’s meant to be happening! No I haven’t I hadn’t even though of that, but that’s definitely something I’ll be doing tomorrow that is really helpful thank you!! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 26th Aug 2020 7:40pm)
  • Call the emergency services and say you are concerned for the person above's well being, as there has been banging and screaming for a few hours. Say you have been to the door and there has been no response. If your neighbour does not open the door to the services when they arrive, they will kick the door down, trust me. This usually results in a quieter neighbour :) by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 8th Sep 2020 5:50pm)
  • If you do please let me know how it works! My upstairs neighbour thudded about as if he had consumed an elephant, but since his door got booted down one nice and early Wednesday morning he has been pretty quiet, still the occasional thump but nothing half as bad as it was. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 8th Sep 2020 6:07pm)
  • That is how it works though when you sign up.. someone calls you to confirm the details and to ask you about your experience... by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 17th Nov 2020 12:22pm)
  • Just confused by your first comment, it just sounds like someone who worked for Scottish power was trying to sign you up... not scam you. Asking for your details and the confirmation call is standard procedure, not sure why you would think it was someone lying about working for Scottish power. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 17th Nov 2020 12:40pm)
  • Ah ok I understand, I picked up the context wrong initially, apologies! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Tue 17th Nov 2020 12:58pm)
  • Sacred Tum Tacos! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 18th Nov 2020 11:05am)
  • It is a little pricey but it’s a good eat... going to be thinking about it all day now haha! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 18th Nov 2020 11:56am)
  • Haha yeah I know I’m not looking into it to do, I really am just nosey and wanted to know if anyone has spoke to the person! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 25th Nov 2020 4:56pm)
  • Hahah they offer a PLETHORA of household products... apparently it is a door to door catalogue opportunity. 😂 by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 25th Nov 2020 6:03pm)
  • Hahaha I know, apparently it is a door to door catalogue opportunity.... by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 25th Nov 2020 6:02pm)

  • We shall be rich! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Thu 26th Nov 2020 8:11am)
  • Hahaha too right! I like to imagine that whoever thought of it was half screaming / half talking like they were a cattle auctioneer when they read it out. Edit: Typo by OtherJaredOJforshort (Thu 26th Nov 2020 12:59pm)
  • Thank you! I have a Tesco right by me, so I’ll look there! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 11:21am)
  • Haha so I’ve heard. I’m not vegan, but just want to cut down meat/dairy products a bit, but will definitely struggle if the cheese is bad by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 11:21am)
  • Ideal thank you, seems like it’s going to be the one by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 11:26am)
  • Oh amazing this looks great thank you very much! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 11:44am)
  • I use unsweetened almond milk in my tea/coffee, soy if I can’t get any almond in the shops near me. I’ve found that just the slightest bit too much can make the drink a bit... thick?? So I can see how it can be an acquired taste. I still drink dairy milk though if I’m at someone’s for a visit or whatever, just to keep it easy. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:08pm)
  • Is there one that you particularly like? by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:07pm)
  • Oh thanks for the info. I live near a Sainsbury’s too so will pop in there! I’ll check out the cafe too next time I’m in town. If it’s good it’s probably worth spending a little more. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:05pm)
  • Haha I do enjoy a good cheese. Admittedly I will probably never go full on vegan, so will probably treat myself to a good cheese and biscuit tray on occasion, but I do want to get into the habit of less dairy/meet for sure. Could you recommend any good vegan chocolates and ice creams? These are my weaknesses by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:12pm)
  • Yas Sainsbury’s and Tesco are both close to me, so I’ll keep an eye out. I really didn’t think Tesco would have much, but I think nearly everyone in the comments mentioned it. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:11pm)
  • I’ve tried the galaxy chocolate and it’s really good, but you’re right bloody pricey. I’ll give some own brand ones! I enjoy dark chocolate too but for me it’s like, one/two squares and then I’m done, whereas I do enjoy a bar of chocolate and a wine on a Friday... though would probably be a lot fitter if I did just stick to one or two squares 😂 by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 1:46pm)
  • Thanks for this! I really didn’t think there was so many vegan options, always just thought the limited ranges I’ve seen in a few shops were pretty much it! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 2:19pm)
  • These all sound like good brands, I’ll look into them this evening! Particularly like the “tastes like a Viennetta” recommendation, thank you so much :) by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 2:18pm)
  • This is perfect thank you! Milk chocolate is my downfall. Thanks for the Morrison’s info, I love shopping there but it can be pricey, so totally surprised that they have some cheap ice cream. I’ll definitely give it a bash! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 2:17pm)
  • Oh good tip, thank you! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 3:40pm)
  • Applewood seems to be a common theme, and the name is quite enticing. Thank you! by OtherJaredOJforshort (Fri 27th Nov 2020 5:46pm)
  • Not sure how helpful this is, but there is a reptile shop in Paisley, Dragon Aquatics, that I have heard are quite good. Maybe if you get in touch with the shop they may be able to tell you of a vet nearby? I’m afraid I’m not a reptile owner though so not too sure other than that. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 7th Jul 2021 3:11pm)
  • Green chilli cafe is terrible. I went the other week as I was gifted a voucher, the food came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering and the dal and my curry both had formed skins on top. by OtherJaredOJforshort (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 2:00pm)
