  • You could try checking the tech department of a big supermarket like tesco extra or asda etc you'll have to go in to the shop though because I don't think they're delivering tech by Rosemarysbaban (Thu 2nd Apr 2020 4:45pm)
  • Language4Water do good courses at the uni taught by volunteer teachers, courses cost about £35 for 10 weekly lessons and the money raised goes towards wateraid. I taught English there for a few terms and have gone to some of the other classes and can't recommend it enough. Next term will probably start in September so I'd recommend seeing if theres a intermediate class for Dutch then and try to learn as much as you can before? • You might have already tried this avenue but depending on your uni/ college you might be able to get free counselling/ therapy with them. Glasgow uni definitely offered this service, while getting seen (pre-covid) could be a matter of days, it could take weeks sometimes to set up a proper therapy course. Good luck, hopefully you find something soon! by Rosemarysbaban (Tue 15th Sep 2020 2:26am)
  • Moved from kinning park to a (cheaper) flat in shawlands and like it much more here. Feels far enough away from the town/ residential with a good number of pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Much more green spaces and away from the orange walks (I think they've calmed down for now anyway but still). Personally feels safer here but it might just be the far less number of union flags/ bars. The only downside is lack of walkable subway access but you can get contactless buses to pretty much anywhere from pollokshaws road so it doesn't really matter to me by Rosemarysbaban (Tue 24th Nov 2020 5:37pm)

  • To add to this Victoria road/ govanhill is a great area and has a bus straight to university avenue, theres also a bus from Pollokshaws road (shawlands-strathbungo) that goes to kelvinhall by Rosemarysbaban (Wed 11th Aug 2021 2:40pm)
  • Nah but rent nearby. Yeah it's pretty great compared to other areas I've lived in, there's a refugee community here and a lot of homeless people on vicky road but there's homeless people everywhere in the city, I've never felt uncomfortable here so what should I look out for exactly? Roving gangs, muggers, cannibals? Seriously who are the scum everyone is afraid of in govanhill? by Rosemarysbaban (Thu 12th Aug 2021 3:26pm)

  • Eating alone isn't that weird, especially if you're passing through or travelling, it can be annoying waiting for a bill in a busy restaurant though. In terms of under a tenner I've been to Mozza and it was pretty good for a pizza around £8 for a pepperoni but cheaper for margarita. Five guys is pretty good for quick food when you want a step up from McDonalds etc. I've been to Ting Thai Caravan too which has a lot of good 1/2 person tables but it can be very busy. Haven't been to Paesano in a while but that used to be good for cheapish pizza. by Rosemarysbaban (Fri 8th Apr 2022 2:15pm)
