  • Ikea! For my living room I got a pal who’s good with a sewing machine to add a layer of insulating material and it’s cost the a fraction of what a long set of heavy curtains would by TheGlasgowGuy (Fri 5th Apr 2019 12:58pm)
  • An extra pound or two if you can afford it. All fair enough playing politics but doesn’t change the reality on the ground. by TheGlasgowGuy (Fri 13th Mar 2020 4:08pm)
  • I can’t recommend Live Languages in Finneston/Charing X enough. Almost finished my first class with them (not Dutch) and it has been such a positive experience. by TheGlasgowGuy (Wed 15th Apr 2020 11:16am)
  • Started feeling tired on Tuesday, fever and the shits yesterday and now I’m absolutely floored. If I don’t have it then I certainly have something. Absolutely no energy. Interesting I don’t have a cough though - maybe something for people to watch out for? by TheGlasgowGuy (Thu 16th Apr 2020 1:35pm)
  • My two bed tenement was 105K in Craigton - it overlooks Bellahouston and has a massive kitchen compared to other flats I’ve been in. A good area, easy motorway access, close to Asda and a short drive to Silverburn. My favourite park is I can walk to Bella in ten seconds and Pollok Park in ten minutes. by TheGlasgowGuy (Mon 20th Apr 2020 4:58pm)
  • They’re my factors and I’d rather drag my balls over rusty nails than give them a single penny more than I already do. Fannies. by TheGlasgowGuy (Wed 29th Apr 2020 9:11am)
  • Could you send me the details too please? by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 16th May 2020 11:19pm)
  • Have to agree. The way folk made it out was like it was torture. Uncomfortable yeah but no pain or inescapable trauma. by TheGlasgowGuy (Wed 20th May 2020 10:32am)
  • Pretty sure only boots, Sainsbury’s and Dobbies are open? Maybe M&S if they have a food but but clothes store won’t be. If anything like Silverburn you can literally walk in, go to boots and then leave . by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 6th Jun 2020 12:11pm)
  • Try to get in contact with Live Languages at Charing Cross. They’ve helped me learn a less common language before and even if they don’t have tutors they may be able to direct you towards someone who can help. Honestly can’t rate them highly enough! by TheGlasgowGuy (Mon 27th Jul 2020 11:19am)
  • Have you signed up for the class at live languages? I started an obscure language there and was convince there would be nobody else wanting to learn and turns out there were ten of us. I also can’t rate the Live Languages team high enough, they’re awesome! Another option is the website Preply - I started it once I moved away from Glasgow and found an amazing teacher for an amazing price. by TheGlasgowGuy (Wed 11th Nov 2020 11:25am)
  • Thanks for letting me know! I booked ten hours and the started paying my teacher directly as I thought that might be the case by TheGlasgowGuy (Fri 13th Nov 2020 11:21pm)
  • I might be worth talking to your GP. I know of people who are prescribed 2 diazepam (I think) for a fear of flying - one for the journey there and one back. Maybe it’s something they’d consider? by TheGlasgowGuy (Tue 16th Feb 2021 1:47pm)
  • Do not touch them with a fucking barge pole. They promised us so many times so fix issues and never did. We had mould growing on the roof for months that would trigger my partners asthma and all they did was paint over it. This then proceeded to be actual fungus/mushrooms growing and they did nothing. It was due to a leak upstairs. The flat was made to look great but had so many hidden issues that they were not upfront about such as draughts and windows that didn’t open. The flat we had was on Alexandra Parade incase that’s the one tou are going for. The office staff and agents are amongst the most unprofessional i have ever met. by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 27th Feb 2021 4:50pm)
  • Luckily now if it’s bad you leave after a month. I was stuck in a 12 month lease. I’m now a landlord due to living aboard and renting out my flat so I did a lot of research about what agencies I wanted to look after my place. Generally the smaller ones with a small portfolio were the best. I recommend Mac Flats in the southside. by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 27th Feb 2021 5:03pm)
  • You’re reminding me now that they threatened us with lawyers when we tried to post about them. I’m sure there’s maybe some post on my history here about them haha. I bought my place with PJ and they were fab by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 27th Feb 2021 5:16pm)
  • Talk to a lawyer or a solicitor mate. They will copy and sign and stamp it. I’m working abroad now and had to get it done for my birth cert, uni degrees, passport and a few other things. They’ll charge you per document but if you go to a wee local place they’ll likely give you a deal for multiple. by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 5th Jun 2021 12:45pm)
  • I didn’t need a translation but that’s what I did by TheGlasgowGuy (Sat 5th Jun 2021 2:08pm)
  • 100% this! A great bunch of people who are super knowledgeable! by TheGlasgowGuy (Thu 10th Jun 2021 3:13pm)
  • I tried but they said they have too many requests atm by TheGlasgowGuy (Mon 15th Nov 2021 5:40pm)
  • Hi all, thanks for the help! My main problem is I am not in the city and my letting agency has the keys so I’m not too keen with a stranger picking up keys and going on their own. Preferably I’d like a charity or something. by TheGlasgowGuy (Mon 15th Nov 2021 7:33pm)
