  • From your source >when the public security bureaus of Nantong and Wenzhou began to launch pilots overseas. They were followed by similar initiatives from the Qingtian authorities in 2018, and more recently, operations run by the Fuzhou public security bureau >...allegations that since 2015 they have helped organise protests in Washington against Chinese dissidents. >reports of the stations being involved in “persuade to return” operations...Relatives in China of wanted people are sometimes pressured in these campaigns. In 2022 a minister from China’s ministry of public security said 210,000 people had been persuaded to return in 2021 This doesn't really seem to support at all what you are saying. The people working there aren't literal police officers, but nobody was making that claim (they aren't working in China after all). by TransmutedHydrogen (Wed 7th Jun 2023 10:36am)
  • So you are saying that - China wants, not necessarily political, criminals in foreign countries to return to china. And they have designated people, who are not working for the state (volunteers?), in foreign countries to facilitate this. And you feel that labeling this a police action, in foreign countries, is hyperbole or anti-chinese hysteria? Am I understanding you correctly? by TransmutedHydrogen (Wed 7th Jun 2023 3:05pm)
