  • Hi, sorry to comment on an old post but I’m an American planning a move to Glasgow and currently trying to figure out the situation with my dog - seems the UK doesn’t make it easy to fly over with them in the cabin. What was your experience if you don’t mind? by TreborMAI (Thu 26th May 2022 2:42am)
  • wow, that would be so amazing. thank you so much by TreborMAI (Thu 26th May 2022 12:15pm)

  • Awesome. Yeah last time I was in Glasgow I had some great pizza and negronis on Great Western Road right there - Paesano's I believe. by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 4:39pm)
  • wow, reddit is a small world. I'm in the midst of trying to figure out how to set up my freelance operation over there. I'm a dual citizen but the tax situation is super confusing. would love to pick your brain if possible! by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 4:42pm)
  • Super helpful, thank you. I mean cheers. by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 4:40pm)
  • this is amazing. and a bit serendipitous that Alan Cumming now lives in my current neighborhood in NYC. by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 6:24pm)
  • Thanks so much for that. I think getting used to this friendliness will be the biggest culture shock for us lol by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 7:04pm)
  • Not at all — wife got a pretty great job opportunity there, we were up for a big change, and we love Europe. by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 7:07pm)
  • Thanks! We took a trip out there a few weeks to get a feel and we totally loved it. The people especially, which this whole thread surely seems to reinforce. by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 7:26pm)
  • Ha, I'm more of a bus guy whenever I can make it work — how are the buses there? by TreborMAI (Wed 15th Jun 2022 11:00pm)
  • Thanks for this. Question for you given your familiarity with NY, how would you compare West End and southside to NY neighborhoods? I’ve been getting the sense it’s like West Village to the East Village? But could be way off. by TreborMAI (Thu 16th Jun 2022 11:13am)
  • Thanks so much for this. If I could ask you a follow-up regarding another flat we're considering in Hyndland on Turnberry Road — as you mentioned Hyndland in your comment I wonder if you could provide any more color on that particular area? by TreborMAI (Thu 16th Jun 2022 5:27pm)
  • Appreciate that! Looks like that’s the flat we’ll end up getting so glad to read this. Thanks again! by TreborMAI (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 3:18am)
  • Thanks! Went to Cottiers when I visited, cool spot. by TreborMAI (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 1:10pm)
  • I’m moving there next month as well, from NYC. Couldn’t believe how nice everyone was when I visited. Honestly thought they were fucking with me. by TreborMAI (Sat 9th Jul 2022 9:45pm)
  • Yeah - very complicated by TreborMAI (Mon 11th Jul 2022 2:22pm)
  • No problem - I’m a dual citizen and my wife got sponsored work visa so it’s been a bit easier/quicker for me than most, but the visa process from what I understand can take anywhere from months to years, and can be super expensive. There’s a facebook group called “Americans in the united kingdom: a helpful expat group” that I’d recommend joining and posting questions there, they’ll have better answers for you. General consensus seems to be that the UK is one of the harder countries to immigrate to. Best of luck by TreborMAI (Mon 11th Jul 2022 3:20pm)
  • also an American who left clubs at home — played The Carrick at Loch Lomond and rented a real nice set. by TreborMAI (Tue 19th Jul 2022 4:13pm)
  • Does that glut of shops also sell furniture? Moving to Hyndland next month and looking for some good charity shops in the area for tables/chairs/lamps/art etc. by TreborMAI (Tue 16th Aug 2022 7:41pm)
  • Awesome, thanks so much. Moving from New York with basically just clothes so got quiiiite a bit to buy. by TreborMAI (Tue 16th Aug 2022 7:52pm)
  • DELETED Any tips on getting a res a couple months in advance? The calendar on their website only goes through September but I want to book a table in October. by TreborMAI (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 9:00pm)
  • Thanks! by TreborMAI (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 10:34pm)
  • Moving from Philly to Glasgow in a few weeks — can I ask what kind of meat you're able to get for yours? Love to make my own steaks but even when I lived in NYC it was hard to find the thin sliced chip steak they have in Philly. by TreborMAI (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:01pm)
  • thanks cheesus by TreborMAI (Fri 26th Aug 2022 6:54pm)
  • What’s the range like from Glasgow? Just moved here (also in a west end tenement) and thinking about getting a car to explore north & the isles a bit. by TreborMAI (Sat 3rd Sep 2022 1:14pm)
  • Thanks. Should have clarified but most of them are delivery boxes from amazon, IKEA etc, not so much moving boxes so not quite as easily repurposed. But it does like there's a recycling bin a few mins walk from me so I'll make a few trips and save the money. Cheers! by TreborMAI (Sun 11th Sep 2022 2:52pm)
  • Or cuku by the botanical gardens has a great selection of italian products by TreborMAI (Fri 7th Oct 2022 4:48pm)
  • Yeah just wouldn’t sure if they’d need some kind of special streaming subscription. Thanks though can’t hurt to ask! by TreborMAI (Sat 15th Oct 2022 10:30pm)

  • Tampa area by TreborMAI (Thu 8th Dec 2022 1:52pm)
  • I moved here recently and while contemplating buying a car I’ve rented from Enterprise in city center for 4 weekend trips and a quick golf outing to Loch Lomond. For 2-3 days it’s a couple hundred pounds which isn’t cheap, but of course cheaper than buying a car + insurance + parking when I really only need it for getaways once or twice a month. The staff are awesome and the cars are nice. Easy enough to book last minute online. They do have a loyalty program although I haven’t used it, not sure it provides that much incentive. by TreborMAI (Thu 5th Jan 2023 12:15pm)
  • Love this! Is Hyndland Rd what separates Hyndland and Partick? Just moved here and never know exactly what area I live in. by TreborMAI (Wed 1st Mar 2023 5:09pm)
  • Ah, this map has Downanhill south of Hyndland, that may be what confused me. So Partickhill Road/Turnberry Road - you'd consider that to be Hyndland? by TreborMAI (Thu 2nd Mar 2023 8:48am)
  • Tangent but does anyone know if that Simeone's is the same family as Nico Simeone of Six by Nico or is that just a coincidence? by TreborMAI (Sun 5th Mar 2023 11:44am)
  • I remember hearing that too, however Simeone’s website has a whole family history section up to present day and doesn’t mention Nico anywhere. by TreborMAI (Sun 5th Mar 2023 1:18pm)
  • amazing angle. where do you shoot this from? by TreborMAI (Sat 18th Mar 2023 6:46pm)
