  • Tell me about it! I found a group that meets online for a quiet reading session, then a chat afterwards - but can't seem to find one that's active IRL! by Zippy0118 (Sat 16th Oct 2021 10:57am)

  • Hello! I posted a while ago on how to meet people and a few people commented that they'd be happy to start a book club. I think it was u/dapper_reserve_5538 and u/toridoki So maybe there's a possibility of founding one? by Zippy0118 (Thu 18th Nov 2021 8:06am)
  • This may be my Letting Agent - but I figured that it was because I threatened them with legal action as they took 9 months to windproof my flat. But they've just got an email with those little things to fix too. by Zippy0118 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 8:36am)
  • I work in Higher Education and would never recommend anyone stay in the privately managed abominations known as private student accommodation. They are cramped, unreliable, money sinks that have tenuous links to HEIs and simply want to scrape as much money as possible from everyone involved. My recommendation would be to try and stay in University Halls first year, and find a HMO (house of multiple occupancy) with some pals for the later years. by Zippy0118 (Mon 4th Apr 2022 9:45am)
  • Higher Education Institutions. Sorry! by Zippy0118 (Mon 18th Apr 2022 7:03pm)
  • My mortgage advisor told me that some providers won't give mortgages (or decent ones) for places above a commerical property so that's definitely worth checking! by Zippy0118 (Mon 9th May 2022 10:59am)
  • I took my visiting family to Largs a few weekends ago and it was a nice day out for them. Mainly went for Nardinis though. My mum is a proper ice cream fan. by Zippy0118 (Thu 12th May 2022 3:26pm)
  • m32 and moved here mid pandemic so I know how you feel. I've started volunteering and getting involved in local community groups and that seems to be working (albeit slowly). Though I still find it hard to go from volunteer buddy to actual friend. The only other suggestion is to pet every single dog on your road and eventually you end up pals with their owner. by Zippy0118 (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 1:18pm)
  • Refuweegee can help with this. They have a stockpile of things that have been donated. All you need to do is make an appointment and they have a 'store' on sight where refugees can get toiletries, food, clothes and other stuff they need. by Zippy0118 (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 1:25pm)
  • I had to threaten legal action against them to get them to reseal my windows. In winter. My internal temp was 10-12 degrees in average. It dragged on for 8 weeks. by Zippy0118 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 5:42pm)
  • Volunteer! I made a bunch of new pals volunteering with Refuweegee. by Zippy0118 (Fri 9th Sep 2022 5:14am)
  • As someone who went through something similar a year or so ago, please do reach out! To your GP, the helplines, anyone! (many have been already suggested here) I did, got medication and had friends/fam support. I know the latter isn’t always possible but people do care. My life has changed for the better and I’m a whole new happy person. So please, speak up. It honestly does get better. Asking for help is the hardest part and you’ve already done that here today. by Zippy0118 (Thu 15th Sep 2022 5:34pm)
  • There’s a number of refugee charities in Glasgow that she’s entitled to assistance from. The first port of call would be Refuweegee who can signpost her to other places. For her own safety she should work through these accommodation offerings, not take a random room. by Zippy0118 (Mon 17th Oct 2022 3:01pm)
  • I had an email about this, it’s such a huge increase and I’m only on the waiting list. It would be nigh impossible to make it economically viable. by Zippy0118 (Sat 1st Apr 2023 5:35pm)
  • Strathclyde Law Centre might be able to help! by Zippy0118 (Fri 7th Apr 2023 6:33pm)
