  • There's the old infectious diseases hospital just by there which is quite interesting to take a look at as well, only the tower left which you might have seen from the park by alanginsberg (Thu 16th Jul 2020 8:58am)
  • I went to dukes and thought it was pretty well done, they were only letting people buy pints if they were sat at a table and they were all pretty spaced out, dunno when you went but maybe they've sorted it out a bit since by alanginsberg (Thu 16th Jul 2020 9:39am)
  • Came here to say the same thing, not too over the top like some in Hyndland or similar, just really nice houses by alanginsberg (Fri 17th Jul 2020 7:17pm)
  • [https://rejeandenim.com/](https://rejeandenim.com/) I'm sure would take them off you if they're not suitable to go to a charity shop or anything by alanginsberg (Tue 17th Nov 2020 7:56am)

  • I got a couple of these through my letterbox in Partick about a year ago and was always curious to see who posted them , glad to see the man can sing, I was so amused by them I almost framed the flyers, just such an odd combination, window cleaner and doo wop groups by alanginsberg (Fri 20th Nov 2020 11:07pm)
  • definitely, history before your very eyes, they'll be using these as 50 pound notes when the apocalypse hits, mark my words by alanginsberg (Fri 20th Nov 2020 11:28pm)

  • I've had parcels left with neighbours where they've said it's with a certain flat number and when I've eventually got the parcel because someone brings it round to my flat it had been delivered to a completely different flat than what they said, could be something like that by alanginsberg (Fri 5th Feb 2021 8:05am)
  • Saw some similar graffiti on some furniture that had been left out on Gardner Street, they must be profilific by alanginsberg (Sun 14th Mar 2021 12:12am)
  • and to be honest, town is probably the area I'd want to go to last out of the three so doesn't add up to much really by alanginsberg (Sat 27th Mar 2021 11:42pm)
  • I lived in Hyndland for a little bit and the window cleaner used to jump across curved bay windows like that without a harness or anything, I guess he did it so much he just had no fear anymore, still used to make me shit myself whenever I'd see him doing it, mental to risk your life for 7 quid every 40 minutes by alanginsberg (Sat 27th Mar 2021 11:40pm)
  • Yesh this was it thank you so much! by alanginsberg (Thu 1st Apr 2021 8:18am)
  • In case you were wondering, my girlfriend works in film and was trying to think of some stuff she could do for her portfolio and I thought something along these lines with scenes/sets from films could be an idea, I was trying to explain what I meant but without an example it was hard to convey what I meant You really helped, thanks by alanginsberg (Fri 2nd Apr 2021 11:11pm)
  • to be honest horrible as it is, the rabble congregatinhg in kelvingrove means they aren't in every other park in glasgow, today with kg being so heavily policed botanics was the busiest and most full of pissed up dickheads I've ever seen it, in a way I kind of think letting kelvingrove be overrun means that everyone else can avoid it and go somewhere else rather than just spreading the issue all over the place. people are gonna go out and get pissed no matter what you do so really think it's better to keep it in one place and let all the other parks remain relatively visitable to everyone who just wants to chill out on a sunny day rather than making the same situatuion everywhere where there aren't police on the gates. doesn't really solve the issue just moves it on imo by alanginsberg (Fri 2nd Apr 2021 11:23pm)
  • not that this isn't a good suggestion, but bloody hell how are we in one of the richest countries in the world and the solution to this problem is to warm water up on the radiator or in the sun to have a hot shower, fuck... by alanginsberg (Fri 9th Apr 2021 11:07pm)
  • I am English and I also blame England by alanginsberg (Sat 10th Apr 2021 1:33am)
  • Thank God I live in Scotland or please help me Brahma Allah or whatever god is not English by alanginsberg (Sat 10th Apr 2021 1:34am)
  • Although, having lived here for years Scotland is not as far removed from the small mind mentality as I would love it to be, because you see the same bigotry everywhere in the UK and I promise you that Special as Scotland is it isnt immune from the way of thinking that pollutes England You will meet people everywhere who think that way and it's never pretty by alanginsberg (Sat 10th Apr 2021 1:40am)
  • also Partick Superstore corner shop by kelvinhall subway, probably not the best samosa in the world but also costs a pound, recommend! especially warmed up by alanginsberg (Wed 21st Apr 2021 7:56am)
  • Aw man I mean we don't fuck it for ourselves other people take care of that for us, all we have to do is sit back relax and watch it happen by alanginsberg (Fri 23rd Apr 2021 11:53pm)
  • Honestly though go anywhere in the UK and you'll see the same thing, don't let them in Kelvingrove and they'll be up the road at botanics in a matter of minutes, they don't really care where they get pished as long as it's in public and sunny by alanginsberg (Fri 23rd Apr 2021 11:56pm)
  • yeah as long as you don't physically shit on the stage you should be fine by alanginsberg (Sat 24th Apr 2021 12:09am)
  • reginald d hunter? by alanginsberg (Sat 24th Apr 2021 12:08am)
  • everybody knew exactly what he meant hahah they were just ripping the piss by alanginsberg (Sat 24th Apr 2021 12:07am)
  • I would argue it's not just Glasgow that has the massive massive massive drinking issue, it's just punished harder here than anywhere else I've lived in the UK and honestly it doesn't improve the situation at all, it's just not something you can fight through policy, like the war on drugs it will just never work because people will still do it they just won't do it THERE by alanginsberg (Sat 24th Apr 2021 12:30am)
  • To be honest in mellis and George mewes charge an absolutely ridiculous price for their stuff it is honestly not worth it, there's making a profit and there's charging 35 quid for a block of cheese, I've been to cheesemongers I. York where I'm from where you can get proper cheese from independent dairies that won't rip you off, I know it doesn't aid your question but it's a fucking pisstake what they charge here by alanginsberg (Sat 24th Apr 2021 12:36am)
  • in fact, here it is: [https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/comments/ijykpw/be\_aware\_venture\_100\_nxt\_wave\_omada\_corp\_aka\_ogc/](https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/comments/ijykpw/be_aware_venture_100_nxt_wave_omada_corp_aka_ogc/) by alanginsberg (Fri 7th May 2021 10:03pm)
  • yeah look up some old threads about omada corp, sounds like it will be the same kind of pyramid selling kind of thing by alanginsberg (Fri 7th May 2021 10:03pm)
  • Ah fair play, even so sounds like it's best to avoid, these guys are total parasites by alanginsberg (Sat 8th May 2021 11:36pm)

  • I always notice alkee, I can be five miles away from where I live and still see that tag, absolutely everywhere by alanginsberg (Sat 29th May 2021 2:08am)
  • You know it's bad when England is.doing better by alanginsberg (Sat 29th May 2021 2:18am)
  • The reason is because in Scotland vaccines are by invite only so they organise the timings before contacting anyone, compare it to England where people can book their own vaccine slots and the take up is so much higher , not many things Scotland does worse than England in but they have majorly fucked up latching onto the letter s system of vaccine appointments, to many people never receive the letter and don't even know they need to book an appointment, and all those appointments pass by as no shows without the person even knowing they missed it, it's a fucking joke of a system by alanginsberg (Sat 29th May 2021 2:18am)
  • Go to govan dry docks for some graffiti and general cool abandoned place by alanginsberg (Wed 9th Jun 2021 8:39am)
  • I always find Indians have a pretty varied menu compared to other styles of cooking, I guess because quite a lot of proper traditional indian dishes are veggie, couldn't go wrong with somewhere like mother india or little curry house although I don't know if they do vouchers to be fair by alanginsberg (Wed 9th Jun 2021 6:36pm)
  • I was going to say exactly this but I thought I would scroll to see if anyone else had said it first by alanginsberg (Sat 12th Jun 2021 10:41pm)
  • funny that this has been downvoted, Guinness pretty much tastes the exact same wherever you get in unless its the kind of pub where you get a mouldy tasting beer because they don't clean the lines, the whole thing of waiting a minute before you pour the last third of the pint is absolute fucking nonsense and absolutely makes no difference, people just love the theatre of it by alanginsberg (Sun 13th Jun 2021 12:03am)
  • As others have said that is an incredibly healthy budget and for 700 you will get a high end flat, honestly it might sound wanky but you probably won't need to worry about the rest of your budget, even a 1 bed flat where I li e in Patrick would be about 600 pounds, unless you go hillhead or central round Douglas Street and that park Square you won't really need to worry about money on that kind of wage by alanginsberg (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 1:14am)
  • Maybe not with covid restrictions, eventual leisure seems about right by alanginsberg (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 1:30am)
  • Everywhere I've lived has had this problem, and the only time I've had any trouble is in York (where I'm from) where I've had both my nose and jaw broken By being beaten up in the street, in Manchester I was robbed twice in two years and been mugged, in Glasgow had no trouble whatsoever off anyone, honestly Glasgow feels by far the safest place I've lived, that being said I live in the West end so can't speak for the whole city but honestly you have most to worry about by alanginsberg (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 1:36am)
  • And I've lived here 3 years, as long as I've been anywhere else and no sniff of any trouble by alanginsberg (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 1:44am)
  • i think bills are above what you would pay: our council tax is 120 between two but you get a reduction as a single person, gas and electric is about 30 pound per month (I'm with bulb) water is included in council tax, and internet we pay 20 pounds a month (talktalk) so you could be looking at like 150 at most I'd say. hope that helps by alanginsberg (Sat 3rd Jul 2021 2:53pm)
  • Bear with me sorry, technical difficulties haha by alanginsberg (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:43pm)
  • Stairs are blocked off completely now from the river by alanginsberg (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:43pm)
  • Yeah thought maybe that would be the case as I wouldn't have thought the uni would want that for the image, I'll give both of them a try, thanks by alanginsberg (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:42pm)
  • Sorry will post in a bit, I thought I had added it in an edit but it's not letting me do it now from my phone by alanginsberg (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:41pm)
  • nah it's way too sturdy for that, proper metal one by alanginsberg (Tue 27th Jul 2021 7:37am)
  • Yeah I would probably not be bothering complaining but it's one of those proper metal fences like the ones already around the pitches so unless someone takes an angle grinder or something no hole is getting made in this one unfortunately by alanginsberg (Tue 27th Jul 2021 7:37am)
  • Yeah I got through that way as well but you have to climb over another fence and the path through is pretty rough, fine for me but for older folk/less able I could see it being a bit of a struggle by alanginsberg (Tue 27th Jul 2021 7:35am)
  • definitely not the most malicious use of fences I can think of , but whoever put them up knew exactly what they were doing by alanginsberg (Tue 27th Jul 2021 7:42am)
  • don't worry man this guy was joking, by the way I completely back Banh mi and tea in Partick, I buy one from there every couple of weeks, they are amazing, the only banh mi I have actually had but I am addicted to them by alanginsberg (Sun 15th Aug 2021 8:34pm)
  • come on mate, as people have said you've done the hardest part, if it helps you I found just getting out the house and seeing friends makes you forget about smoking and before you know it another day has passed, you have got this mate by alanginsberg (Sat 21st Aug 2021 1:24am)
  • yeah, expensive for below par japanese food by alanginsberg (Sat 21st Aug 2021 1:38am)
  • haha man you having a laugh, fun pub but the guy was looking for somewhere to eat and even mentioned the word classy by alanginsberg (Sat 21st Aug 2021 1:37am)
  • I mean a lot of people have worked service jobs where they hate the guts of everyone that comes in but you've still got to have a level of communication, not even be nice about it, but just don't act as if people aren't even there by alanginsberg (Sat 30th Oct 2021 12:33am)
  • Hey man you alright? I totally get that there's no worse feeling in the world than a bus you're waiting for just never turning up, completely makes you feel like the world is against you, you got anyone you can chat to who aren't on Reddit? by alanginsberg (Mon 6th Dec 2021 3:58pm)
  • Hey man, as another guy has said on here just try giving anyone a call who will listen to you, whether it's even an old friend or anything just let them know how you're feeling and get some stuff off your chest, I don't know what advice I can really give you but even if you don't feel like it's true there are people who care about what you are going through and just talking it through can really help, the internet is the easiest place to do it and I get that but it's a one way street and it can really help to have someone to bounce off with how you feel rather than venting into the void, hope that can help in any way by alanginsberg (Mon 6th Dec 2021 4:56pm)
  • Are the tickets for flaming lips at playground valid at all for the new date? I bought my dad tickets as a birthday present so would like to uphold the gift but as you said haven't got a refund yet so kind of wanted to hold off until I do by alanginsberg (Wed 15th Dec 2021 4:10pm)
  • Wudon, no? by alanginsberg (Thu 30th Dec 2021 6:32pm)
  • Probably start looking a month before you intend to move honestly, any kind of flat rental or buying gets snapped up almost immediately in my experience, so probably not worth looking too early because you will see the perfect flat and not be able to move in because it will have been taken by the time you get to it, I moved flat in September last year and that's my experience, but others might think differently by alanginsberg (Mon 3rd Jan 2022 4:38pm)
  • There's a record shop in ruthven lane with some decent stuff, might need to take a shovel though by alanginsberg (Fri 21st Jan 2022 10:51pm)
  • Nah really do not agree, bus tours are probably the worst way you can see any city, who wants to be taken to the hydro and armadilo, george square.and down byres road on a bus with commentary, you'd get so much more a sense of the city if you just walk around it, go to any of the museum's, do the Kelvin walkway from Kelvin grove to botanics, go to Pollock park, peoes palace, anything but a bus tour by alanginsberg (Sun 23rd Jan 2022 1:20am)
  • Not found one in Glasgow, I'm from England and even finding a pub with a pool table is a lot rarer here than at home, never seen bar billiards here by alanginsberg (Sat 12th Feb 2022 6:04pm)
  • Nah that's not bar billiards by alanginsberg (Sat 12th Feb 2022 6:02pm)
  • Should say, if you want to wait for one that does have a charger, if the number/destination is orange on the front they won't have chargers, if it's white/lit with LEDs it probably will, though that is definitely not a guarantee by alanginsberg (Sat 19th Feb 2022 7:00pm)
  • Yeah normally you are right, but i've had a fair few 60s and 38s that were each so thought it was worth mentioning by alanginsberg (Sat 19th Feb 2022 10:20pm)
  • Was going to suggest this, also love the ghost sign just above it by alanginsberg (Mon 14th Mar 2022 3:25pm)
  • You get then in York, when I was a kid the chippy near me did a bag of scraps for free and when we were about 12 we used to go in and ask for bag after bag of them, we did it so much they started charging 10p for a bag of scraps. I don't get what's so disgusting about it it's just bits of batter by alanginsberg (Fri 18th Mar 2022 10:41pm)
  • this is the most comprehensive answer, check RA or skiddle to see where there is house on by alanginsberg (Mon 4th Apr 2022 8:18am)
  • Don't know about anywhere official for adult beginners to play but there are always people playing basketball in Mansfield park in partick, I'm sure if you went and asked to join they'd be happy to let you play, seems pretty casual too by alanginsberg (Mon 4th Apr 2022 10:40am)
  • Underrated by alanginsberg (Sat 16th Apr 2022 10:13pm)
  • Nah you can change the supplier if you are renting, or at least I have always been able to, not that it will really make a difference at the moment by alanginsberg (Sat 28th May 2022 11:43am)
  • I got the overnight bus to Oxford once which involved an hour long layover at Birmingham bus station at 5 in the morning, the only thing to eat from the only corner shop that was open was a cold vegetarian Jamaican patty, just make sure you bring enough food and something comfy to sleep on by alanginsberg (Mon 30th May 2022 10:29pm)
  • You having a laugh mate, in what world is Megabus class? by alanginsberg (Wed 8th Jun 2022 12:47am)
  • How do you mean free though i've not been blessed with that by alanginsberg (Wed 8th Jun 2022 12:58am)
  • Sorry for the shite jokes by alanginsberg (Wed 8th Jun 2022 12:57am)
  • We must have been on different megabuses if you are talking about legroom, fair play though Also, free to go anywhere in the country? Are you 65? by alanginsberg (Wed 8th Jun 2022 12:57am)
  • I'm officially a twat, sorry by alanginsberg (Wed 8th Jun 2022 9:06am)
  • None of the answers so far have said it but there is a place next to what used to be Poundland in partick that does a gents cut for 4.99 I did come out looking like Frankenstein's monster but if you are after a cheap haircut.. there is another one a bit further down towards lismore for the same price. As others have said though a student haircut is the way to go, I had one for free and then the pro guy training him came and tidied it up after so got a pretty good haircut for free in the end by alanginsberg (Wed 10th Aug 2022 6:48pm)
  • Yep that's the one by alanginsberg (Wed 10th Aug 2022 9:29pm)
  • Tbh probably something a bit more dance music oriented if you are up for it, la cheetah or Berkely suite usually work out pretty well for me and avoid that kind of 18 year old student crowd, subby used to be good bemut last few times I've been it has been full of 16 year olds by alanginsberg (Sat 13th Aug 2022 11:20pm)
  • yeah almost the exact same as you, mental that earning 1600 a month is a reasonably decent salary and there are people on a lot lot less, only a couple of years ago i was earning just above half of what I am now and felt like I was struggling less, can't imagine what it is like to be on minimum wage at the moment by alanginsberg (Thu 18th Aug 2022 7:59pm)
  • Tbh if you live in a tenement flat you are gonna have noise from your upstairs neighbours, a lot of posts on here complain about it but they are old buildings and of you aren't prepared to hear people moving about the flat above you a tenement is not ideal... That being said, some earplugs or white noise as others have said should do the trick and if you think it's really bad you should speak to them or raise a complaint. That being said I loved in a flat where my girlfriend was properly incensed by the noise upstairs and I thought it was very normal so maybe try and think if it equates to the kind of noise you will be making for your downstairs neighbours as well... To a certain extent it's unavoidable by alanginsberg (Sun 21st Aug 2022 1:42am)
  • They tried to overcharge me about a tenner once thinking I was trollied, told them where to go and won't go back there by alanginsberg (Mon 29th Aug 2022 11:39pm)
  • I used to live behind there and they have like 5 Bentleys parked out the back for a reason, 13 quid Margherita I think it was, that mark up is serious by alanginsberg (Mon 29th Aug 2022 11:37pm)
  • This is honestly the best advice here, in my last relationship I made that mistake and that has ended now and I realised how much time I missed out on with my friends, now in another relationship but making much more time for my pals within that, it's a much healthier way to live by alanginsberg (Sun 16th Oct 2022 11:07pm)
  • Tbf if it is just acoustic they might not realise how much it carries by alanginsberg (Fri 4th Nov 2022 11:28pm)
  • I do understand the frustration here but I really wish royal mail would have an option to just leave stuff at the door like other delivery services do, can quite often be hard for me to get to the delivery office/ drop off places because of the hours I work and would much prefer it just left at the door by alanginsberg (Fri 4th Nov 2022 11:26pm)
  • No way that happened haha wish I was there by alanginsberg (Thu 17th Nov 2022 7:42pm)
  • I used to get a mushroom pizza from basta and it was so good, just like a Margherita but they added garlic mushrooms which they'd fried beforehand, most places just chuck raw mushrooms on, bangin by alanginsberg (Fri 10th Feb 2023 4:32pm)
  • Think the 78 has one on Sunday evenings as well by alanginsberg (Wed 22nd Feb 2023 6:51am)
  • Me and my girlfriend got a taxi to the airport for 18 last year but it was at 4 in the morning and asked them to drop us at the premier Inn opposite to avoid the parking charge by alanginsberg (Fri 14th Apr 2023 4:09pm)
  • Also that was quite far along paisley road west so definitely took quite a bit off I should say by alanginsberg (Fri 14th Apr 2023 4:34pm)

  • Class joke that by alanginsberg (Fri 12th May 2023 9:19pm)
  • I love walking through the Clyde tunnel because it kind of feels like I'm in a resident evil/silent hill type game, I once walked through and there was an empty tennents can every quarter of the way, someone had obviously tanned a 4 pack on just that walk alone which I had to respect by alanginsberg (Fri 12th May 2023 9:58pm)
  • Rickshaw and co explicitly mention Bangladeshi food on their description and look to have good reviews but I've never been myself, seems to be the only one that mentions it apart from Bengal cottage in the east end but that looks to be mpre of a takeaway by alanginsberg (Tue 16th May 2023 7:38pm)
  • He's at it by alanginsberg (Mon 29th May 2023 9:27pm)
  • Far as I'm concerned, a lot of English cities have the same things going for them as Glasgow (cool, musical a lot going on) but none really capture the magic of Glasgow, there are none that feel as compact cos people tend to live in houses in the more suburban bits or very modern flats more centrally, nothing akin to tenement flats that most people (that I know at least) live in in Glasgow, having said that Manchester will probably be the closest you will get in terms of what is going on in the city, but your living situation will be quite far removed, apart from that Liverpool and Newcastle as others have said, they are all great cities but really the beauty is in what's different between them so if you are looking for something most similar to Glasgow I would say, have you thought about staying In Glasgow? by alanginsberg (Mon 29th May 2023 9:32pm)
  • I pay 800 a month for a 2 bed in Kelvindale which is split between 2, so not that bad, I was in a 1 bed last year in maryhill which was 650 a month which also didn't have hot water haha, so I would say maybe look a bit further afield if it's a 1 bed you want , 500 a month will probably be tight but manageable on 25k cos that's what I was on in maryhill, though I will say what people generally pay for their energy bills (through talking to people) seems a lot higher than what I generally pay so might be that I just don't put the lights or the heating on enough, if you're willing to be a bit further out though should be manageable on 25k for a 1 bed, maybe try knightswood or scotstoun as others have said by alanginsberg (Fri 9th Jun 2023 7:41pm)

  • it means that we can all sit at our windows and enjoy the lovely sounds of tin whistles and snare drums, what a revolutionary sound by alanginsberg (Sat 1st Jul 2023 1:01pm)
