  • I find it quite harsh to just assume the pirate flag is antisocial. There are plenty of social and friendly pirates all over the seas. If you’ve had a bad experience with a pirate in the past it’s understandable that you feel worried but don’t let the many suffer because of the few. by cashtaan (Wed 29th May 2019 12:36pm)
  • I moved to Glasgow in 2015 and only read about the golden times before the deregulation after I was amazed by how bad the city transport is. It is unbelievable - compared to any European city. It is appalling that in a state where so many people, groups, and politicians speak about being pro-people everybody ignores how bad this situation is. by cashtaan (Fri 31st May 2019 11:39am)
  • I'm in. I wonder if they could sell their Glasgow division separately. by cashtaan (Fri 31st May 2019 11:35am)

  • I was assuming teamwork, and the fact that the two of them gave us all 500 miles - which gives 250 miles per a proclaimer. However, I'm tempted to use your logic of following the lyrics, and then assuming that each of two proclaimers can yield 1000 miles. by cashtaan (Fri 31st May 2019 7:29pm)
  • I have to disagree. There are more serious problems with the buses in Glasgow, the main of which is their unreliability. Shared transport is the main or only mode of commuting for a large fraction of the community (and should be in any large city). I can see a lot of people relying on it to get to work, or school. There are always buses that simply don’t show up, and I’ve seen hundreds of times people being unable to get on the bus. Additionally, the frequency of the buses is reduced despite the timetable at times and locations where it doesn’t pay off so much. It totally grinds my gears when I see nurses coming back from work and having to wait 30-40 minutes because 2 buses didn’t show up at 11pm. I have never seen this happening anywhere else. I come from a post-communist state - Poland and the fact that they manage to have a reliable and clean transport while Britain often can’t is beyond my comprehension. by cashtaan (Sat 1st Jun 2019 4:41pm)
  • It’s like every time I go to Berlin, where you can drink on the street and all shops have bottle openers near the cash till. I always get to wonder that I wish that everywhere would be like this. But then I think of Glasgow and the thought kinda scares me instead of filling with hope. by cashtaan (Sat 1st Jun 2019 9:00pm)
  • Aye, agreed. Fighting a random person for riding a skateboard sounds like a questionable achievement. I’m just trying to figure out how serious they are! It’d be really shitty if I had to give up skateboarding and take buses just because some arseholes get upset when they see a skateboard. I don’t want to get into any fights on my way to work (or ever, really) as you could imagine. by cashtaan (Thu 5th Sep 2019 9:25am)
  • I know I’m good but not great and I step off the board when the sidewalk gets more crowded. It didn’t seem like those guys cared about the good of pedestrians by referring to me as a skateboard wanker though! 🛹🍆💦 by cashtaan (Thu 5th Sep 2019 10:07am)
  • I should ask next time! by cashtaan (Thu 5th Sep 2019 10:27am)
  • Technically, they have been replaced... But in all seriousness, it is appalling that the council is failing at delivering such basic service while making it so hard to approach them and get it sorted out. Using blue and grey bins is the very least we can do for the environment. by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 11:59am)
  • Exactly my thoughts - I am happy to pay taxes of all sorts, but this feels like an extortion when they don't deliver the most basic services... by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 12:56pm)
  • They used to collect all of our bins until early Spring. Then it stopped, and none of the ways of reporting this problem worked. by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 1:01pm)
  • Near St Rollox Tesco. I could imagine the council paying less attention to this area than, let's say, Kelvinbridge, but the situation has become quite extreme now... by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 1:15pm)
  • They haven't though. The bins next door can be accessed from the street and they too have been overflowing for a few months now. by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 1:24pm)
  • I tried using that app today having read the comments here and I did manage, somehow, to report it without logging in. At least, that is what it looked like - it showed a confirmation code and all. by cashtaan (Mon 9th Sep 2019 5:27pm)
  • It took me about 4-5 months to get them to empty our blue recycling bins. This included numerous calls, e-mails, form submissions (both online and via the app), and contacting local councillors. You’re in for quite a ride so buckle up! Also, the grey bin still hasn’t been emptied for half a year now. by cashtaan (Thu 19th Sep 2019 12:08pm)
  • I don’t like El Perro Negro but have seen it open on Deliveroo a day or two ago. The quality is obviously okay so that might save you. by cashtaan (Sat 4th Apr 2020 9:31am)
  • I have to disagree, any burger in El Perro Negro is just bland compared to any decent quality smash burger - in my opinion, even chain places like Five Guys beat El Perro Negro. I can easily see how buns and meat could be improved at EPN to make it taste like a real burger. by cashtaan (Sat 4th Apr 2020 9:49am)
  • This would be a perfect logo of Glasgow Subway but I think you’d have to swap the octopus for a calamari... by cashtaan (Sun 12th Apr 2020 6:24am)
  • Thanks, but it's not an HMO. Even if it was, I suppose it would be quite strange if this mark was sorted out only about a year after the move in. by cashtaan (Tue 22nd Dec 2020 2:17pm)
  • Thanks, I’m surprised how large it is. I saw a very strong red light for a minute earlier on and couldn’t understand what’s going on. Cheers. by cashtaan (Fri 14th May 2021 10:38pm)
  • If you want to reuse the bottles then pay attention to how easy the stickers are to unstick. If they are a pain to peel off (often leaving a thick layer of adhesive), then you may want to consider other options. One of the common methods is to print on standard paper and then coat it with a tiny amount of milk. Sticks well and is easy to remove later. No, it doesn’t smell. by cashtaan (Tue 21st Sep 2021 9:54am)

  • We have a group of mostly international postgraduate students but often struggle to get 10 bodies signed up. We play at townhead power league, usually Friday evenings but can adjust the time. Let me know if you want to join! by cashtaan (Wed 12th Apr 2023 6:51am)
