  • Home report does mean a lot. It states the value that the mortgage lender will lend against, anything over and above is on the buyer. Its relation to what houses actually go for is where it gets a bit less meaningful. by coruiskcauldron (Wed 30th Sep 2020 10:48pm)
  • They say the average no. of hours behind the wheel practicing is around 40-45 with most passes and I was surprised to work out retrospectively this is pretty much what I'd done before I passed. Your instructor will know when you're ready or not, if they're as good as you say they are. I was impatient to pass too but I trusted them and they gave me plenty of notice when I was starting to see the finish line. I'd recommend getting time in with a friend or family member, I used the AA cars and was added onto a family member's car occassionally. by coruiskcauldron (Wed 30th Sep 2020 10:46pm)
  • Good for you. DVSA, I can’t find exactly where I read it or when the figure was produced but could have come from this report: https://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20100513151012/http:/www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/research/rsrr/theme2/cohort2/cohrtiimainreport.pdf. Everyone is different but I think they studied thousands of new drivers to arrive at an average. Mine was a combo of lessons and private practice, can’t remember the split. by coruiskcauldron (Thu 1st Oct 2020 10:12am)
  • Pick a retailer with free returns. There’s a lot of good discounts popping up online atm because retailers are struggling. Also if you pay through PayPal, they’ll cover up to £15 in return postage costs if you need to pay to send back. by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 11:17am)
  • I’m sure it was subsequently clarified that if you could do the essential activity in your council, you should stay within it. Is there not like 47 parks in the GCC area to negate the need to travel outwith it to walk? by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 8:28pm)
  • It is aye. But no it’s council areas, not health boards (GG&C is massive!) by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 8:31pm)
  • Work if you can’t do it from home is exempt tho I think. by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 8:30pm)
  • There’s always going to be people in that situation tho. And it’s however many miles in the other direction... by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 8:29pm)
  • Despite the battering my karma has taken on this one, interesting to see the mix of interpretations/approaches. by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 9:49pm)
  • Was genuinely curious, and maybe even wondering if I'd misinterpreted myself. But I can work from home, so I don't need to be 100% on this point. by coruiskcauldron (Thu 12th Nov 2020 9:47pm)

  • There definitely is now we have a vaccine, hopefully more positive things in 2021. Hang in for it. by coruiskcauldron (Mon 14th Dec 2020 12:49pm)

  • I think you’re wrong and nothing has been said to back that up. But I know these things change all the time and there’s an economic factor so I suppose it’s a wait and see thing. But a world with vaccines in 2021 is surely better than without. by coruiskcauldron (Mon 14th Dec 2020 1:31pm)
