  • they honestly must be sick of the sight of me coming in, browsing for ages enjoying looking at all the rare editions and then leaving because everything is at least twice the price i'd be prepared to pay 🙃 by dadadasoc (Thu 15th Oct 2020 10:01am)
  • they've actually done a fair amount of 'tidying' to make more space for distancing since reopening post-lockdown. it's still not actually organised but the majority of the books are on shelves now, far fewer piles than before. improved the experience greatly imho, strikes the perfect balance between digging and order! by dadadasoc (Thu 15th Oct 2020 10:07am)
  • Locavore has them, set you back a tenner for a small jar though so I hope they're nice! by dadadasoc (Wed 6th Jan 2021 12:49pm)
  • Kelvin Pocket cafe in the West End make it for their menu, you can just go in and ask at the counter to buy a half loaf, they usually have enough to spare. Two Eight Seven bakery in Govanhill also do one. by dadadasoc (Mon 21st Feb 2022 12:24pm)

  • I work for a charity who have the official contract with Glasgow City Council to provide housing support for homeless people and am on £21k a year. But at least the prospects are good with the assistant office managers being on around £25k and the manager on a massive £30k. Love to feel valued for the work I do 😎 by dadadasoc (Sun 14th May 2023 11:12am)
  • Sorry for the flippant tone of the original post but as I work for a charity directly impacted by the uselessness of this mob I was (and am) feeling somewhat aggrieved by the whole situation. On your point: rough sleeping is a vanishingly small facet of homelessness. The overwhelming majority of homeless people are living in temporary accommodation, often long-term, due to a lack of socially rented properties. See here for statistics for Scotland as a whole in the last year: https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/housing_policy/homelessness_in_scotlan And here for the Glasgow rates 2021/22: https://www.gov.scot/publications/homelessness-scotland-2021-22/pages/4/#:~:text=Most%20homeless%20households%20are%20in%20Glasgow&text=Glasgow%20recorded%20the%20largest%20numerical,in%20Glasgow%20since%202012%2F13. I also happen to know that the rates that have not been released for Glasgow for the period 2022/23 are going to show a significant increase. I have also personally seen that the council have recently repeatedly failed to satisfy their statutory duty to house people due to a lack of accommodation. It's extremely bleak. Hopefully this will clarify things a bit, I promise I'm not trolling but am actually genuinely concerned with the way the sector is going. Things are at breaking point and, as said above, millions has just been spent on a completely failed project which solved nothing. by dadadasoc (Fri 15th Sep 2023 12:02pm)
  • Aye, I've deleted the original post - don't want to come across as inflammatory when it's a serious issue. Will reflect further and might write something a bit more measured. by dadadasoc (Fri 15th Sep 2023 1:23pm)
  • I think that CAReS might just be the equivalent of the ADRS team in areas outside Glasgow? But thank you for the suggestion. by dadadasoc (Wed 11th Oct 2023 9:55am)
  • Just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions - plenty to look into. by dadadasoc (Thu 12th Oct 2023 5:18pm)
  • Gorgeous pal - I used to love a bit of film photography myself but fallen out of the habit with the convenience of the phone. Highest compliment I can pay is these make me want to dust off the camera and hit the town. Keep sharing on here when you can, it's a sight for sore eyes amongst all the usual shite! by dadadasoc (Fri 8th Dec 2023 10:22am)
  • Ah well in that case I hope you enjoyed your time here! Haste ye back and thanks for the beautiful photos. by dadadasoc (Sat 9th Dec 2023 12:16am)
