  • Hey, it's run by Glasgow Lindyhoppers who have a page on facebook, classes are every monday at the same venue Beginners class runs 7-8. Social and practice time is 8 - 8.45 Improvers runs 8.45 - 9.30 For normal classes they do charge a small fee: £5 for one class and the social / practice £8 for both classes & the social / practice £2 if you want to just come for the social dance period by dresdenjass (Thu 5th Jan 2023 2:22pm)
  • Absolutely fine to just turn up, no sign up or partner required, just bring yourself and some water I recommend if you're brand new, that you get there for a 7 o'clock start as that's when they'll cover the footwork after a wee warm up to get the blood flowing and body moving 😁 by dresdenjass (Thu 5th Jan 2023 2:32pm)
  • Oh don't you worry, once you learn to swing dance, you'll be cutting the rug and pulling out all the moves when the music is right and there's someone else to dance with who knows what they're doing. The community keep an eye out and advertise online when bands are playing swing music in Glasgow so there's ample opportunity to meet up socially for a drink and a dance - zero chance of getting done in, I promise 😁 Plus, if you come along with your partner and you both get into it, you can really show off when a swing tunes come on at weddings and parties (e.g. Loads of the classic Disney songs, pencil full of lead, moondance etc) - I appreciate the joke 👍 by dresdenjass (Thu 5th Jan 2023 2:42pm)
  • There's a free swing dance taster event this Monday, no sign up or partner required, just turn up (there's a reddit post in r/Glasgow a couple of days ago) https://fb.me/e/2jRocaIq3 There's also Queens Park chess club and a group who play chess on Wednesdays in Maggie May's https://www.facebook.com/115000613224986/posts/pfbid02fAL6dGdbZCEB46XpSCCUZ8pJXkD85d9k24AvcQf3ETrd6dHtBHHj1nxyDBJKYqKBl/?sfnsn=scwspmo Both a little different, with good welcoming communities behind them by dresdenjass (Fri 6th Jan 2023 6:37pm)

  • Lindyhop is for everyone! by dresdenjass (Fri 9th Jun 2023 9:24am)
  • Might I recommend a social dance class? It might sound silly, but it will encourage you to get out and meet people, plus movement and music can be very healing. Add to that that dance classes on swing, lindy hop and blues change partners every 5 mins or so, so there's no pressure to make up small talk since everyone is focused on doing something else for the majority. There are a number of groups around Glasgow you check out on the Glasgow Swing and Blues dancers Facebook page. Best of luck and well done for reaching out in the first instance. by dresdenjass (Sun 18th Jun 2023 5:24pm)
  • The free taster class has passed I'm afraid. But the beginner classes are every monday at 7 for £5 with a 45 min social practice session at the end included. by dresdenjass (Thu 29th Jun 2023 9:50pm)
