  • That's so nice, thank you! by forevergleaning (Wed 28th Sep 2022 8:09pm)
  • I don't see why you are getting downvoted! There were excellent people at PRM with me too, but unfortunately there was one person who was extremely unprofessional and cruel and put me and the baby in danger. When I was finally assessed by someone else she was shocked by what had happened and I was whisked away to emergency surgery. Everyone there was great too. Fortunately we were both fine - but I was seriously disturbed that someone who was meant to help me would do that. I just don't want to go back to that hospital, even though there are clearly some excellent people there. We put in a complaint and I have since met someone whose baby had complications due to this same person. They were pursuing legal action. I sincerely hope this person has now been sacked. by forevergleaning (Wed 28th Sep 2022 8:08pm)

  • He grew up in Pollok, so not exactly Helensburgh. Just a normal area. I disagree. There's a really interesting long discussion with him and Blindboy on the Blindboy podcast where he talks about his family origins and politics and masculinity among other things. • I second all the posts about lining streets with trees. It's a fairly simple thing that a corporation could do that would make a big visual impact and improve general wellbeing. There's also the possibility for a logo here and there for good pr. There are so many areas in Glasgow that are barren of anything green and look grim af. Trees would make a big difference. We even refer to nice areas as "leafy" to denote posh-ness. by forevergleaning (Sun 12th Feb 2023 7:55pm)
  • That's true. by forevergleaning (Wed 15th Feb 2023 4:46pm)
  • She isn't though, and you know it. If you think she's the same as any recent PMs for example, you're mad. The quality, or lack of quality, people in politics makes a huge difference and to pretend otherwise isn't helpful. by forevergleaning (Wed 15th Feb 2023 4:45pm)
  • Yes, I agree re Kate Forbes. Looking at the line up there's not really anyone that I'd look forward to taking over. by forevergleaning (Wed 15th Feb 2023 5:13pm)

  • Ffs I'm not even an SNP supporter. I just value her for being one of the few decent political leaders about. I think she deserves credit to for staying for so long despite it clearly taking a personal toll. Political discourse in the UK is so toxic you can't even say anything nice about anyone. It's just nasty negativity day in day out. by forevergleaning (Wed 15th Feb 2023 5:21pm)

  • Private tenants rights, investment in renewable energy, free child care hours and continuation of free prescriptions and university are big ones for me. • Selling off assets is only something you can do once. Short term is a boost but long term leaves the council poorer. Kind of like privatisation in the 80s. It's more expensive to buy or rent property in the future when you need it and you miss out on making money from it by leasing. by forevergleaning (Fri 17th Feb 2023 1:52pm)
  • Good. The Council Tax freeze never made any sense. The city can't continue on its current limited budget. Everything is just falling apart. What we really need is council tax reform though so the burden is spread fairly. by forevergleaning (Fri 17th Feb 2023 1:55pm)
  • I work for a nearby council and there's often some reason or something in the pipeline that they're trying to work out. We had a big empty space for years for example that was cleared for housing and it was found to have been used as an illegal asbestos dump site by a private company decades ago. Took us years and years to get it sorted out. by forevergleaning (Fri 17th Feb 2023 5:05pm)
  • Yeah, Glasgow and surrounding areas are absolutely riddled with old industrial toxic waste sites. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the true Glasgow Effect. by forevergleaning (Fri 17th Feb 2023 7:25pm)
  • Why not the Glasgow Women's Library? They have a nice big event space on the side. https://womenslibrary.org.uk/ by forevergleaning (Tue 21st Feb 2023 9:20pm)
  • For me it's the politics. Rangers have links to the Orange Order, which has a right wing, quasi fascist ideology. Celtic generally are left wing, anti-fascist, and pro refugee. They have links to other wholesome football clubs like St Pauli in Germany. There are also many on both sides who just like the football and don't pay attention to the politics at all. I've also been stuck on a late night train a few times as a young single woman, rammed with either Rangers or Celtic fans and the experience is very different regardless of who won... by forevergleaning (Wed 1st Mar 2023 8:32am)
  • That's true, Celtic fans are also partial to IRA songs. by forevergleaning (Wed 1st Mar 2023 8:55am)
  • You would hope that most people agree with Irish liberation and therefore appreciate how important the IRA have been in achieving that. Generally speaking the more recent the "IRA" the worse they are. Kind of like the Black Panthers. by forevergleaning (Wed 1st Mar 2023 7:15pm)
  • I could say the same about Rangers fans like you, but we both know you can support one thing and not the other. At least liberation is a justified cause, unlike that of the British and loyalists. by forevergleaning (Wed 1st Mar 2023 7:29pm)
  • You know...the UK has a fine tradition of squatters movements. The 1940s/50s and the 1970s for example, during similar cost of living and housing crisis periods, and I would be happy to see a resurgence. by forevergleaning (Wed 8th Mar 2023 9:39pm)

  • The Yoker ferry to me always has a bit of an "in between" out of place vibe. You're right in the middle of what should be a city/busy harbour, but you're not. You're not in the countryside either but you feel quite apart from everywhere else. If you take the ferry the only thing on the other side really is the one pub. A bit Nightvale. by forevergleaning (Wed 5th Apr 2023 4:52pm)

  • Balloch to Glasgow train around Renton. Dunno why I'm being downvoted 😅 by forevergleaning (Wed 14th Jun 2023 2:33pm)
  • I dunno man, you tell me. I've never seen meth before so I could be wrong. At first I thought the guy was drunk and pissed himself and when I looked over he had his lighter out and a wee pipe and tinfoil. The whole carriage smelt like melted plastic. Had a massive headache for the rest of the night. It was late at night and we were the only other people in that carriage and the guy said he thought he was alone. We went into the next carriage and told the ticket collector. What was it do you think? by forevergleaning (Wed 14th Jun 2023 2:44pm)
  • It's ok, pal. Mistakes happen x by forevergleaning (Wed 14th Jun 2023 2:51pm)
  • He wasn't smoking from the tin foil he had the stuff wrapped up in it and was using the lighter directly under the pipe. The headache was definitely from the fumes - I could feel them, boof, hit me. My face didn't feel tingly but my head felt dizzy. Not trying to be difficult just genuinely curious. I've also never heard of meth being much of a thing in Scotland. I thought we were stubbornly opiates people. by forevergleaning (Wed 14th Jun 2023 5:17pm)
  • There's a movement to de-sexualise women's bodies so that there is the same taps aff freedom for everyone. "Free the Nipple". Maybe that was their thinking? by forevergleaning (Sat 15th Jul 2023 10:50pm)
  • In real life, you don't just approach people to date. You get to know people and get closer organically. Meet as many people, both men and women, as you can. Go to places that are specifically for socialising like bars or pubs. Join groups for socialising like sports/activities/art/board games etc. Get to know people organically and not as chat-ups. Also local colleges have night classes/weekend classes. Community groups too. And workshops. by forevergleaning (Sat 5th Aug 2023 11:05am)

  • Talked about litter picking on my local community page once and got torn to shreds. If there's a strike on, fair enough, but there wasn't. They said noone should litter pick on principal because "that's what we pay council tax for". Like, sure, but GCCs budget is fucked and will be for the foreseeable future. I don't see why we need to live in filth in the meantime. by forevergleaning (Fri 18th Aug 2023 7:21pm)

  • It's a similar story with mental health services in general. There's basically CBT or crisis intervention. And even that's not guaranteed. There's just no money for long term support. So unless you're a suicidal schizophrenic with kids, you're just not a priority. I don't blame the services, I blame the lack of proper funding etc. by forevergleaning (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 7:15pm)
  • Exactly. If there's no mental health care available, desperate people will self medicate with whatever they can find. by forevergleaning (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 8:59pm)
  • We should have a functioning and fully funded mental health service that catches underlying problems before they develop into addiction, and treats those that already have. We should have a social democratic, Finnish style model to provide this funding. by forevergleaning (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 9:07pm)
  • Have you tried being schizophrenic and pregnant too? Seriously, that is awful. Hopefully one day, that will no longer be the case. x by forevergleaning (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 9:09pm)
