  • TIL there's no cathcart circle trains on sunday. That's really dumb lol by lrcomedx (Mon 29th Apr 2019 10:21am)
  • That seems a bit dumb. You shouldn't count yourself out of literally everything one politician says. You should probably look into things a bit more and make up your own mind. by lrcomedx (Mon 29th Apr 2019 8:32pm)
  • If there was another one, I think M&Ds would be fine. But it isn't another theme park. It seems to be some semblance of a hotel complex. It's just ran by Flamingo Land. by lrcomedx (Mon 29th Apr 2019 8:31pm)
  • I'm still surprised that the fire at a bungalow on Rockburn Drive in Clarkston didn't become bigger news. Not because the house had any significance, but because directly across the road was the massive Clarkston Fire Station. by lrcomedx (Wed 1st May 2019 11:34pm)
  • That one seems to have burned down whilst they were trying to fix it. *I wonder where I've heard that before* by lrcomedx (Wed 1st May 2019 11:32pm)

  • As someone who lives in that bit, I can *kind of* agree. Rutherglen is worse by far though. And you could probably say the same about a lot of borders. I doubt there'd be a lot of support locally for that, even though it does make a lot of sense. by lrcomedx (Wed 12th Jun 2019 7:58pm)

  • To be fair, I personally do like the taller glass buildings, and I'm sure there are a lot of people like me. But if we need to replace the victorian architecture that makes Glasgow what it is, that's not worth it. Put them in brownfield sites along the riverside. • The bus just seemed more efficient. At the time it didn't make sense to have trams when you could have buses. Buses could get out the way of cars. by lrcomedx (Fri 11th Oct 2019 12:18am)

  • What I found weird about that one is that the border follows the B812 Auchinairn Road before and after this weird stretch. It cuts so arbitrarily through the housing estate. • I'm pretty sure you can legally use the path, under the 'right to roam' laws. I think it's just that the path is a crumbling mess. Hopefully at some point they'll fix it, because the immediate southside needs that kind of work. by lrcomedx (Sat 28th Dec 2019 5:49pm)

  • Forcing all the cars that need to drive down a really long route would be worse for the climate since they'd all be going further. by lrcomedx (Thu 14th May 2020 12:57pm)
  • There are still people who do need to drive though. Shutting off 2 major routes in the west end will inevitably increase traffic on already gridlocked areas near the M8, because people still need to get through. by lrcomedx (Thu 14th May 2020 1:38pm)
  • We can improve cycling without closing off major roads to cars. That's why it's important to do traffic assessments on new cycle lanes/walking routes. It would make more sense in many cases to use more minor roads with less traffic for cycle lanes and walking routes than to use the major roads. Directly adjacent to Kelvin Way is a walkway/cycle path that would make closing the road completely pointless. by lrcomedx (Thu 14th May 2020 2:59pm)

  • I looked at a couple of very old OS maps, it appears that the houses here originate from at earliest 1894. The street is marked as "Kerr Street" on the 1894 map but doesn't follow the whole of modern day Ancroft Street, and had no buildings. It appears it functioned as a back alley for the buildings on Garscube Road. Unfortunately the next OS map I know of is from the 1940s so narrowing it down further from there is quite difficult. There's probably some way to do it that I don't know though. by lrcomedx (Sun 18th Oct 2020 11:31am)
