  • Hi. If I may, [DBT](https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/drugs-and-treatments/dialectical-behaviour-therapy-dbt/about-dbt/), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, is a type of CBT but with a different focus. The underlying therapeutic paradigm is the same, so it may be that a CBT therapist will have experience of DBT, like a guitarist who plays electric and acoustic perhaps. And CBT is still one of the types of therapy favoured by the NHS in Scotland so a referral from your GP may be possible. However, it just occurred to me that calling these £95 therapists and asking if they work on a 'sliding scale' (which a lot of therapists do so asking them won't be seen as cheeky) may make it more affordable. Alternatively ask where they were trained in DBT, and then contact the university/ training organisation as very often therapists in training offer free sessions (with clinical supervision in place of course). Organisations like the [UKCP](https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/about-ukcp/) and [BACP](https://www.bacp.co.uk/) may also be able to help in your search. Best of luck. by meyeusername (Sat 30th May 2020 8:51pm)

  • I know the [The Children's Wood at Kelvin Meadow](https://www.thechildrenswood.co.uk/our-community/playgroups/) has a playgroup on a Friday but even if that's too early (11am to 1pm) it's a great place to stop off and potter about. And there's the children's playground in the Botanics which is beside the Children's Garden. Hope you both have loads of fun whatever you do. by meyeusername (Wed 27th Apr 2022 11:13pm)
  • If she's 'arty' then she might be interested in some elements of film, and film making. Maybe somewhere like [GMAC in Trongate](https://www.gmacfilm.com/) which has youth, and school programmes/projects. So many creative disciplines pull together in film/tv making, and it's so collaborative which may appeal as an alternative to more traditional 'team' activities. I hope you, and your daughter, find something that helps her find real friends. Good luck. by meyeusername (Thu 18th Aug 2022 4:52pm)

  • Pop into your local library, or bar, or hotel and collect as many what's on leaflets as you can - you know the kind that promote days out, or events. That will give your friend something to browse at their leisure so they might see things they might enjoy and make plans. Ooh! And take them to [Lupe Pintos](https://www.lupepintos.com/) \- there's bound to be something there that will be useful for those homesick days. by meyeusername (Wed 13th Sep 2023 12:28am)
