  • Go for it. The courses will be hell with the time difference, and unless you live in Murano, it's as good as anywhere in europe. People in Scotland in general have seemed to be more mindful than those in England. Just be conscious of your own actions and everything will be fine. by mr10683 (Sun 27th Sep 2020 11:01am)
  • The problem with sauchiehall s cycle lane is that it starts nowhere and ends nowhere. I mean there isn't a ramp. You need to either skip a bit and start somewhere in-between or ride the pavement at the begining or end. They need to link it with other paths. by mr10683 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 11:07am)
  • Have someone noticed that the cycle bridge over the m8 that they put the structural columns in the middle of the cycle lane in the middle of the apex of the spiral turn? I mean I really hope they don't do anything that stupid ever again. Also the cycle maze to get through from St George's cross to city center via cowcaddens needs a dishonorable mention. by mr10683 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 11:10am)
  • No way I got one in my mail box that is quite similar by mr10683 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 6:55pm)
  • Might be a little of off topic but the cycle routes along the south side of the clyde along the clyde lead you onto the pavement and - I kid you not- in the space in front of a buss stop. by mr10683 (Sun 29th Nov 2020 6:18pm)

  • Speaking as a a one year resident of the city, The council just stopped collecting many types of waste and did not give you any alternatives. Anyone without a car to go to a waste cenyer was just out of luck. For instance, it was a right pain to dispose of oddsize waste when moving flats. Companies were asking extortionate prices to take a bit of lumber off my hands. by mr10683 (Tue 16th Feb 2021 10:55am)

  • Fair but that still doesn't explain why the seating looks inward. In Russia they cave like little cabins for wather. by mr10683 (Mon 20th Sep 2021 5:52pm)
  • Yoker the only place near here which is both a demonym and the name of the city itself? by mr10683 (Tue 21st Sep 2021 4:41pm)
  • It is inevitable that active transport will be the main means of urban mobility with the next couple of decades, whether you accept it or not. I have lived in wet, hilly, places, and dark, windy, snowy places and commuted year round with bicycles. It only was possible because of the bicycle infrastructure making it super easy. On a side note, the Netherlands began becoming bicycle centric in the 1970s because of the oil crisis. They didn't show up one day and say we are 80% cyclists. Today 45-60% of urban trips happen on bikes. by mr10683 (Mon 17th Jan 2022 8:17am)
  • While I respect your ability to have an opinion, recent trends across Europe and other densely inhabited areas show the opposite of your opinion. Also active transport includes walking. by mr10683 (Tue 18th Jan 2022 2:16pm)
  • You should ask the foxes that run around the west end. Especially downhill by mr10683 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 4:57pm)
  • The stairs at the top of downside Rd, crown terrace. View of the city quiet and very glasgow by mr10683 (Thu 17th Feb 2022 9:06pm)
  • While I don't know if it is feasible, but generally huge prefabs are less wasteful than demolitions rebuildings. I'm sure if they gut it and restructure it, I would use up less materials. by mr10683 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 8:15pm)
  • Ask your provider to give you a smart meter and be frugal, that's more or less all you can do. Also it's a good excuse to go to the gym or the library more often. by mr10683 (Tue 5th Apr 2022 10:30pm)
  • The only shite thing about GLA is if you come with a night flight the public transport options are shite (9 quid for the express bus is too much). Ubers and taxis are often not available without waiting for ages. So in general, plan ahead by mr10683 (Tue 10th May 2022 11:29am)
  • I just went to the GP, told them that " I have been taking these for a chronic condition" and then they said ok and wrote a prescription. The only tie-up might be that the NHS doesn't offer a specific drug, or offer it in a different form,/dosage. So in that case they will offer an alternative by mr10683 (Tue 10th May 2022 11:45am)
  • Stirling too, it's only 25 minutes 9.5 quid return ticket from queen street by mr10683 (Wed 11th May 2022 7:55pm)
  • Coming from the south, they are expensive because they sell you the most expensive one. For instance, there are paracetamols between 0.5 euros and 8 euros, pharmacists will try to sell you the expensive one. So yeah deffo stock up, but if you get into a bind ask for the cheapest . by mr10683 (Tue 24th May 2022 12:00am)
  • You can take the 77 from the airport to city centre but it'll take you an hour instead of 20 minutes by mr10683 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 3:53pm)

  • 2 bedroom 1050 in great location tenement in hill head on a 2020 contract. I think cop26/general greediness has since inflated the rentals since. The HMO next door for a way worse build quality was asking 650a room. Rent control is needed. by mr10683 (Sat 10th Jun 2023 9:17am)
  • I walk up to the bar at McChuills and put in an order for my friends as I was buying a round. Ragtag choices from cans, to drinks, to pints for a total of 8 drinks or so. A middle aged dude jumps from the corner of the bar says " but what are the others having" without dropping a beat. I laugh and tell him that it's typical in my country to buy your friends drinks on your bday. He laughs and buys just me a drink. by mr10683 (Tue 27th Jun 2023 7:55pm)
