  • This happens all over Scotland/the wider U.K. Born & raised in Glasgow, live further north - told regularly that I don’t sound Glaswegian; they mean ‘you don’t sound like Rab C’. by polarbear_underwear (Tue 11th May 2021 10:57am)
  • Work for Scotland lists all of the civil service jobs - some will be fairly specialised but others will be more generic. Whenever I look there are always a couple of Glasgow/central belt options. by polarbear_underwear (Tue 25th May 2021 1:35pm)
  • I visited a couple of weeks ago & did the following: * Victorian toilets - costs 40p, interesting but sort of weird * Rothesay castle - currently closed * Rothesay - looks a wee bit tired but can walk along the front & see the Victorian promenade - * Helmi’s bakery was closed when we were there but gets great reviews (patisserie). They operate in Bearsden too. * Ascog Bay - some absolutely gorgeous houses * Mount Stuart - must do; give yourself time to do the gardens & has great tea room * Kilchattan Bay & standing stones - post office operates as a tea room too, food is average but the coffee was apparently very nice * Scalpsie Bay - viewpoint & seal walk * Caledonia Bistro - food is great, only doing lunch atm) * Ambience Bute - great Caribbean food & would recommend * Isle of Bute Gin Garden Have a lovely time! by polarbear_underwear (Mon 21st Jun 2021 6:40pm)
