  • I can confirm - I am Italian, and whilst many businesses close at lunchtime, most activities are open at least until 20:00. As for food, restaurants tend to close when they have no more incoming customers (within reason, so they would let someone in at maximum 23:30 usually). With alcohol, there is a lot more leeway everywhere, and even if laws are present, enforcement is not pedantic. Admittedly though, we do not wreak havoc when we are drunk, usually. That being said, I have lived in the UK for about ten years and have only lived in Glasgow for the last eight months. And some things surprised me: the alcohol drunk from bags during the day, as though you cannot enjoy a beer in the park? Or the very early closing times of everything, as pointed out in my question. Chavvy English or Welsh are just as rowdy and twatty as any other chavvy Britons when drunk, so I do not know why this imposition on Glasgow residents. In fact, I would say that Cardiff, London, and Bristol are much more of a hell hole, with drunk, crackheads, or k-holed people all around town. Yet, enforcement does not take services away from behaving residents there. by redmagor (Sat 9th Jul 2022 12:04am)

  • Folks, thanks to a mixture of advice on how to deal with the situation on my own, who to get in touch with, and volunteers from Reddit, I have now come to a solution. On the day, I will pivot the machine out of the cabinet on my own to take cables and tubes out, then someone will help me get the machine down to the van, together with the fridge as well. People from Glasgow! I would like to thank everyone in r/Glasgow who gave useful advice, and especially those who volunteered to help. In fact, major thanks go to u/joggersnipples, u/Kammerice, u/Lonebluemoon, and u/ClydeCallahan. Cheers! by redmagor (Fri 22nd Jul 2022 8:42pm)
