  • Don't mind me, fellow criminals! I'll just have a seat here if you don't mind. Good old crime. Anyone else got any good offences they've committed lately? by sandwichman212 (Fri 13th Sep 2019 12:36pm)
  • Well put by sandwichman212 (Tue 31st Dec 2019 2:21pm)
  • I think you'll do grand on that. Getting a job on top for extra money will also have the extra benefit of giving you some of those 'real life skills'. by sandwichman212 (Mon 27th Jan 2020 9:29pm)
  • Have to cheerfully disagree with your first point - yes, it is expensive, yes, facilities are rubbish for what you pay, however - if you're coming from a significant distance away it is an absolute lifeline for making a large amount of friends and integrating into the social scene. Everyone you meet will be in the same boat. It's a lot of pressure moving to a new culture and getting your social life sorted out will stand you in good stead for your whole degree and beyond. I went into Cairncross house in 07 and am still good friends with people I met there. by sandwichman212 (Sun 1st Mar 2020 11:01am)
  • It is an issue. I, like many others, am stuck in a pokey wee flat that normally I spend most of my time away from. Out for daily exercise through Victoria park looking at the swans (my main form of entertainment these days) and you go past a lot of big semidetacheds having barbecues, sunbathing, enjoying themselves, and I confess I did have a little 5 minute sit on that hill next to fossil grove for a treat. I ought not to, and others ought not to, but it does feel like some kind of provision would be great. The isolation is very strange - I haven't physically touched my girlfriend in weeks - she's a nurse working in corona wards, living in another flat, and I am just over what we suspect was The Virus, but I never thought I would value as much as I do the act of sitting on a bench in the sun and refusing to contemplate the absurdity of the situation. by sandwichman212 (Sun 19th Apr 2020 11:44pm)
  • It shouldn't surprise me how quick people are to turn to authoritarianism in difficult times but it always does by sandwichman212 (Sun 19th Apr 2020 11:48pm)
  • Well no, there's a difference between saying "maybe this could be better" and just "I don't like it" and I think this person's doing the former. Bear in mind that the harder it is to comply with the lockdown, the more likely some folks are to just say fuck it to the whole thing by sandwichman212 (Sun 19th Apr 2020 11:47pm)
  • Wilomena McDowd picked up her fags at co-op at 10 am and then made an additional three trips to Londis over the next 12 hours. Swift action from the GCC hunter-seeker drone thankfully rectified the threat, but sadly Cessnock no longer exists. by sandwichman212 (Fri 24th Apr 2020 11:28am)
  • If you do decide to eject yourself off the bridge in Victoria Park though, the most likely casualty will be your trousers. Maybe a swan if you time it right. by sandwichman212 (Tue 26th May 2020 5:56pm)
  • Scanning for sarcasm.... Hoo-weee, this baby's off the charts! by sandwichman212 (Wed 17th Jun 2020 8:58am)
  • The only green I'm after has little crosses in the bottom and smells a bit like death by sandwichman212 (Sat 4th Jul 2020 9:24pm)
  • Ohhh Bubbly Jocks is so close but sadly only offering vegetarian filo pastry fellas... That's not a roast dinner at all. But we're getting closer! If only I ate meat. Stupid tasty animals... by sandwichman212 (Sat 4th Jul 2020 9:23pm)
  • Oh god I must be too late... menu says quinoa and falafel salad. Just kick me when I'm down, Cottiers by sandwichman212 (Sat 4th Jul 2020 9:28pm)
  • God, it's looking that way isn't it by sandwichman212 (Sun 5th Jul 2020 1:22pm)

  • Too good for the smell of lovely chips are we, your majesty?? by sandwichman212 (Sat 19th Sep 2020 8:22pm)
  • Cheers, yes I think so - lots of testing and holding my breath from here to NI seems to be the way to do it. I can isolate for a while when I get in and still be available. And good point about efficacy. Should've got the carers' vaccine at the time! by sandwichman212 (Fri 16th Jul 2021 3:23pm)
  • Cheers - yes PCR before I'm off is a good shout, then regular lateral flows when I arrive. by sandwichman212 (Fri 16th Jul 2021 3:25pm)
  • If you say eating non-meat-based food has negative ecological effects, but then admit they aren't as bad as the ecological effects of meat-based foods I think you may have argued yourself out of your point. Unless we should be eating... dust? Rocks? by sandwichman212 (Wed 3rd Nov 2021 11:03pm)
  • I don't think vigilante internet justice is the best approach. At the very least, they don't sound very well. OP should speak to the police about it. by sandwichman212 (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 2:07am)
  • People produce waste. Waste is disposed of by bin men. Bin men need to be paid a fair wage. We can either do that or take the approach of, hoping, I guess, that 'the public' just does the sensible thing, takes their rubbish, and - eats it? - buries it Queen's Park? Is this a labour issue or is it about cups? by sandwichman212 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 12:55am)
