  • Isn't it? from my reading, Edinburgh became the capital in the 15th century via King James, and its status as the capital was confirmed/underlined with the devolution of parliament in the late 20th century? So my isn't isn't incorrect. If you are gona claim that the capital (over 1k years ago) was Scone - I would have to question the relevance of that in this instance. by scp1717 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 4:32am)

  • I love dogs, but I totally agree. last week i went for a walk in queen's park with my 5 year old niece, and right by the duck pong a big boxer came bounding over and leapt up and put his paws on her shoulders. He had nothing but friendly intentions but she freaked out - understandably. Too many dog owners work on the logic of 'I know he's a good boy, therefore no one else should be scared of him' by scp1717 (Tue 21st Jun 2022 3:14pm)
  • especially when the dog is approaching younger kids. if I don't know that your dog is just playing, then the weans certainly fucking dont by scp1717 (Tue 21st Jun 2022 4:21pm)
  • Yeah that is fucked. The owner is basically saying that he is fine with his dog terrifying children, cos his dog is aff the lead having a good time. Selfish as fuck by scp1717 (Tue 21st Jun 2022 9:52pm)

  • I duno like...I think you might be reading into that a 'wee' bit too much...see what i did there? Something I do think happens though is that Scottish people sometimes react to a degree of international condecension.. People (americans for example) who always go on about how 'they love scottish people and their funny accents and how mad they are all the time at England lol' Can come across as a 'wee' bit belittling. by scp1717 (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 3:06pm)
  • lol. People think that it's the English that Scottish people have a problem with, when it's actually other Scots that do our nuts in more than anything. by scp1717 (Wed 22nd Jun 2022 3:28pm)

I never claimed to be a proper Glaswegian at any point. If you're that interested I grew up in Leith in Edinburgh and moved to Glasgow for work 15 years ago. • hahah. fuuuckin hell. Fine, I won't try and be civil. speaking of the 'others who were decent enough to comment' - have a look at the reception your comments got. the way you speak so angrily about anyone and everyone in pubs you don't like and those from anywhere else in Scotland? You've got some hatred in you mate and it's not a good thing. Take a look at yourself. by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 5:01am)

  • yeah honestly I dont really know if I care enough about the owner to not go to a pub. especially when Im hawf cut by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 3:04pm)
  • No. I never started putting people down. You posted a negative comment (fair enough) and I responded with a very light humoured joke saying I wasn't asking for your least favourite pub. Then you went on a diatribe calling me and everyone else who drinks in the Ally Arms and basically everyone from up North an arsehole. The arseholery/being a tosser entirely started with you. It's obvious to me and apparently it's obvious to the 50+ people who downvoted your comments (although of course you don't care about votes cos everyone on this sub is negative, except you eh?). Several other users have actually gone out their way to comment on what you said calling you a sad bastard. You keep telling me to grow up, and making shite 'past ur bedtime' jokes and calling me a 9 year old...? It's poor patter, and it's you that needs to grow up. by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 4:42pm)
  • You find other people's clothes annoying? hahah. What a sad wee life that sounds like. Also - if that guy's opinion is worthless and no one cares what he reckons, why the fuck do you think we care what you think? by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 4:57pm)
  • The irony of you going on about how I can't handle criticism when you reacted about as badly as possible to one, very gentle jibe in the first place. Definition of canny take a joke. Why do you keep making weird projections about where I'm from and my age? I'll help you out to stop you fantasizing. I'm originally from Edinburgh, but I've lived in Glasgow for 15 years. I'm 35. What has happened in your life that you have this caustic prejudice against people who drink in certain pubs, people from anywhere outside Glasgow, and people who were jumpers or hats of a certain brand?? Can you honestly not see that that is just hatred, bitterness, and tarring thousands of people with the same brush? (exactly the same thing that happens with racism etc) by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 5:08pm)
  • >I'm being a twat Finally a bit of honesty by scp1717 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 5:10pm)
  • Do u think Glasgow has suffered big time as a result of political corruption? I obviously can't say for sure cos I dont have enough of the real facts but I was genuinely under the impression that Scotland (for all its arguable shortcomings) was amongst the least corrupt countries in the world? (Not being naive and saying it doesnt happen. I just mean, all things being relative) by scp1717 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 3:38pm)
  • You can like a place in spite of it's shortcomings you know... by scp1717 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 3:40pm)

  • There's plenty to like about Glasgow. Yes we have substances abuse issues in the population but the people by and large are very good-natured. There's an epic history to the city. And, as far as I agree with you that it needs to be cleaner, I don't think a city being a bit dirty necessarily makes it shite. Some of the world's greatest cities (in the developed world) are considered pretty filthy. Rome, New York, Paris, etc by scp1717 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 6:58pm)

  • '5 huskies' - pack of wolves\* lol by scp1717 (Sat 26th Nov 2022 11:34am)
  • that's what im getting at. huskies are big powerful working dogs and not nearly as far removed from their wild cousins as some more standard domesticated dogs. I think they will also act with more 'pack' intent too when there are 5 of them who live and go walks together. Not saying that makes them inately aggressive of course just that, if one of them goes for another dog, the rest might well follow. by scp1717 (Sat 26th Nov 2022 11:53am)

I know that at 21 it's not necessarily easy but honestly, if you go up to a group of girls who seem cool and explain that you're by yourself, most groups will immediately include you. I reckon this is a preferable (and safer) option that planning to meet up with people from online. by scp1717 (Thu 22nd Jun 2023 10:23pm)
