  • You need to look for a heating engineer (and not a plumber). I don’t know any but good luck and I hope this helps pal. by scratchnburn (Wed 4th Aug 2021 5:35am)
  • 1. Open rent and Gumtree are the best for private landlords. 2. I like the West End, It’s safe and close to Glasgow Uni but it can be pricey 3. Expect to pay between £700-900 pcm by scratchnburn (Fri 13th Aug 2021 5:52pm)
  • Which is why I didn’t suggest Rightmove! £800, private landlord: https://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-houses/2-bed-flat-to-rent-kelvindale/1412106397?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=ios_social by scratchnburn (Fri 13th Aug 2021 7:19pm)
  • Correct me if i’m wrong but I think that most hotels are trying to avoid Buffet breakfasts right now due to Covid. Was at the Village hotel a couple weeks ago and they had a fixed menu. Edit: spelling by scratchnburn (Sat 11th Sep 2021 7:18pm)

  • Can anyone recommend a decent electrician/engineer to install a smart thermostat in a gas boiler from scratch? I’m not exactly sure what type of tradesperson is required either to be honest. Any help would be really appreciated! by scratchnburn (Tue 21st Sep 2021 11:41am)

  • Can someone please explain to me this chat about people supposedly making a fortune from renting out their flat? Who exactly is the customer? I was under the impression that only political delegates would be traveling to Glasgow and presumably staying in hotels.. by scratchnburn (Thu 7th Oct 2021 11:17pm)
  • Thanks for clearing it up guys - my flat has now been listed on Airbnb. Don’t hate me by scratchnburn (Fri 8th Oct 2021 12:55pm)

  • Only Airbnb for security and convenience. I put mine up a week ago at a competitive price (£200 a night to me, around 250 to the guest) and was snapped up within 12 hours. Airbnb will also give you £100 credit if you host someone during COP, just make sure to follow the following steps: https://news.airbnb.com/en-uk/cop26-brings-opportunity-for-local-communities-through-airbnb/ Lastly, Most international guests won’t even check gumtree, and any guests that are interested could be sketchy due to lack of a decent review system. Good luck! by scratchnburn (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:16am)
  • Would this ever be worth it? Like seriously? Anything that you could conceivable want to eat while walking around an Asda would cost, what? £5 max. Weigh that up with the risk of the security guard catching you lifting that stolen Boost bar and devouring it in front of CCTV. CCTV which could then be used to ban you from the shop - or worse, refer you to the police. Charges would probably not be brought against you due to the effort outweighing any perceived benefit due to the cost of the snack, but the police could certainly be called and a record against you recorded on the PNC potentially restricting your ability to apply for jobs. All because you’re a stingy fat bastard. by scratchnburn (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:26am)
  • Maybe you’re right in that the chances of criminal repercussions are pretty slim but it doesn’t seem worth it at all just for the chance of the sheer embarrassment of being caught in the act - if not by a security guard, then a friend or work colleague who happens to spot you in the shop. by scratchnburn (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:57am)
  • I had the exact same issue. Both doses in England and registered with a Scottish GP. Log into to the English ‘NHS app’ not the NHS covid one and request a covid pass. Try your English and Scottish address - one should pull up your details). Also make sure to test the QR codes with the Scottish covid checker app just to be sure as my 2nd dose is not recognised but my first dose is. Good luck! by scratchnburn (Wed 20th Oct 2021 12:51pm)
  • No worries, hopefully they scrap the scheme as it’s such a faff. But good to hear that it’s worked for you. by scratchnburn (Wed 20th Oct 2021 4:33pm)
  • That’s outrageous for the GP to suggest that! I suggest contacting NHS scotland directly through 0808 196 8565 as they deal with COVID passports, (GP’s don’t gave much control). Also, the chances of someone being in the same situation as you and also active on the Glasgow subreddit is pretty slim. I suggest trying r/coronavirusuk Good luck! by scratchnburn (Wed 20th Oct 2021 6:22pm)
  • Ah that’s crap! The scheme has to be scrapped - It’s so flawed, I can’t access mine either because i had both doses in England.. Hope you get it sorted. by scratchnburn (Wed 20th Oct 2021 8:51pm)
  • DELETED Newspapers have been digital for years - just check their website for latest articles! Regardless of whether there is somewhere on Glasgow, It makes no environmental or economical sense to print or buy a US newspaper in Scotland. by scratchnburn (Wed 20th Oct 2021 8:56pm)
  • Where did I say it was “flown in”? by scratchnburn (Thu 21st Oct 2021 6:35am)
  • I wonder if you have any grounds to refuse paying council tax. It probably wouldn’t be worth it to test the waters but it would be interesting nonetheless….Lets say you were to cancel any direct debits and just make manual payment less the amount that goes towards bin collection. Doubt it has been tested in the courts before but fuck me i’d love to see the outcome of that case. by scratchnburn (Tue 26th Oct 2021 7:52pm)
  • This is the best advice here. If the letters get annoying then you can do what i do and go a step further by appealing. I’ve sent the below to numerous private parking companies and never had them contact me afterwards: “ I am appealing as the keeper and ONLY Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act (POFA), (or evidence of who was driving) can cause a keeper appellant to be deemed to be the liable party. The PCN makes no attempt to pass liability to the keeper after 28 days. A vehicle can be driven by any person (with the consent of the owner) as long as the driver is insured. There is no dispute that the driver was entitled to drive the car and I can confirm that they were, but I am exercising my right not to name that person. As the keeper of the vehicle, it is my right to choose not to name the driver, yet still not be lawfully held liable if an operator is not using or complying with Schedule 4. As the registered keeper I cannot be held liable for this PCN as it relates to land in Scotland. I insist the prompt cancellation of this PCN as I will not be paying and you have no case to continue with requests for payment from the registered keeper of the vehicle. Should you, or your agents continue to do so, I will immediately refer this case to the DVLA.” by scratchnburn (Fri 29th Oct 2021 6:17pm)
