  • It'll be great if this actually goes ahead. I really like the idea for re-tooling the ped crossings to be pedestrian priority with vehicles having to request access to proceed instead of pedestrians. by secondkov (Mon 1st Jun 2020 11:47am)
  • Don't know about scones but their cafe/bakery bit does some tremendous cupcakes. by secondkov (Fri 24th Jul 2020 4:01pm)
  • I've lived here for 10 years and it's fine. You get occasional bampots like you would anywhere but I've never felt unsafe. The area is gentrifying so there are some decent cafés, restaurants etc especially along Duke Street. Both Duke Street and Alexandra Parade have really free buses into town, and Bellgrove railway station has frequent trains through to Partick if you need to get to uni. by secondkov (Tue 8th Sep 2020 6:31pm)
  • Roll on sausage, piece on ham etc.... Might be a Strathclyde thing as my colleague from Aberdeen didn't understand it either. by secondkov (Fri 15th Jan 2021 10:42am)
  • Huge if true by secondkov (Tue 11th May 2021 3:46pm)
  • Proper (I.e segregated) bike lanes would be good. An actual network not just random sketches here and there. They do seem to be building some to be fair, but it's pretty slow going and not much of the city is covered. by secondkov (Tue 11th May 2021 3:45pm)
  • Seems to be very well used indeed down there. [Cycling in London in rush hour](https://youtu.be/lPA254l61cc) by secondkov (Tue 11th May 2021 4:29pm)
  • I wonder if 8 weeks is the standard now then? Will be really happy when I get my second one and I'm fully vaxxed. I'm still pretty anxious about being unmasked indoors. Seconding the humidity being shite. by secondkov (Sun 4th Jul 2021 3:46pm)
  • Never heard of that before. Good on you for doing the research and creating the wiki article so that other people can learn about it. by secondkov (Sun 4th Jul 2021 10:04pm)
  • Invitations.vacs.nhs.scot will tell you if you got anything scheduled. There are also walk-in Centres for second vaccinations if it has been more than 8 weeks since your first one and you are aged 18 to 39. https://www.nhsggc.org.uk/your-health/health-issues/covid-19-coronavirus/for-patients-the-public/covid-vaccinations/drop-in-vaccinations/ for info by secondkov (Tue 6th Jul 2021 9:14am)
  • It was still going on today while I was in town. They had a bit of St Vincent Street closed for it. by secondkov (Sat 31st Jul 2021 9:57pm)
  • I was fine after the first one but I've got the second one on Friday. hope I get away with it the second time too. by secondkov (Wed 4th Aug 2021 12:36pm)
  • Big blast of school lunchbox related nostalgia there by secondkov (Tue 17th Aug 2021 8:28pm)
  • Had a works night out that involved that place a wee while back (pre-covid). Used the downstairs course. could buy drinks from the bar and take them round with you. It was a pretty good and fun experience cause you got an activity to do but it's still easy to chat to each other. Think we were there for an hour or so. by secondkov (Wed 18th Aug 2021 12:34pm)

  • I think that makes you a DJ. by secondkov (Fri 20th Aug 2021 2:22pm)
  • I got TalkTalk fibre in the East End. Service is fine, I've had no problems with connecting and I get really good speeds. I've been WFH for a lot of the pandemic and had zero problems that have affected that. The thing that does annoy me about them is that they put up the price during what I thought was a fixed price contract. I'm not sure if the other providers would be any more or less likely to do that th3. by secondkov (Wed 1st Sep 2021 1:52pm)
  • Hope its worth the wait by secondkov (Fri 3rd Sep 2021 7:33pm)
  • Was £21 to get me to the airport from the East End through the week. Problem I had was getting back when I returned. Tried three times to get an Uber back home once I'd landed and the app couldn't find any drivers. I've noticed longer wait times than usual on some of my recent trips. I wonder if they're struggling for drivers. by secondkov (Sun 5th Sep 2021 6:35pm)
  • I'll cart myself down there. That'll be the second one in a row. 🙂 by secondkov (Tue 7th Sep 2021 10:42am)
  • They need planning permission from the council to demolish it and hopefully they don't get it. There's no reason why it should be allowed that I can see. by secondkov (Mon 13th Sep 2021 5:51pm)
  • St Vincent Street would be gorgeous if they gave it the avenue treatment like they did up on Sauchiehall. Reduce the traffic lanes and use the space to plant some trees and stick some restaurant seating on the Northern side of the street. It'd be a lovely place to sit out in the and enjoy a meal on a sunny summer evening. by secondkov (Mon 13th Sep 2021 6:04pm)
  • I'll come by secondkov (Mon 20th Sep 2021 3:02pm)

  • What are they going to do for the indoor scenes since there isn't a film studio in Glasgow? Or are they going to use that place up at Cumberland that Outlander uses? by secondkov (Mon 27th Sep 2021 12:22pm)
  • It'll be great if they actually do it. by secondkov (Tue 5th Oct 2021 8:52pm)
  • There are flats being built further along the road next to the Kingston Bridge. There are piling rigs and some other construction equipment on the site now. They might be the referring to that? by secondkov (Tue 5th Oct 2021 9:03pm)
  • Probably A bit late to be commenting, but I'm on my way now. by secondkov (Thu 7th Oct 2021 7:26pm)

  • I miss the coffee shop they used to have upstairs, where you could watch the world go by on Buchanan Street. by secondkov (Tue 30th Nov 2021 8:55pm)
  • There were massive structural problems with it back in the 90s which took most of the decade to fix, with various closures and restrictions - I believe HGVs were restricted for a while. In the end they had to lift the bridge up on hydraulic Jack's and rebuild some of the supports and foundations. by secondkov (Tue 30th Nov 2021 9:01pm)
  • On the train to work right now. Almost no-one wearing a mask. Feels like it was quite common even a few weeks ago. by secondkov (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 6:35am)
  • I'd say "going into town" if I was going there, but I'd use 'city centre' if I was referring to the area in most other contexts. by secondkov (Sun 12th Dec 2021 7:32pm)
  • Shame it's been cancelled - I was enjoying these. Better to be safe than sorry though. by secondkov (Tue 14th Dec 2021 5:08pm)

  • I'll be there. Got a fairly good unbroken run of these now. by secondkov (Tue 3rd May 2022 10:02pm)
  • Scale is right but its a bit identikit. Still good to see development at that end of town. Along with the Candleriggs development across the road, this area is going to feel much more alive in a few years. by secondkov (Fri 13th May 2022 3:36pm)

  • I don't understand why Labour are so mad about not winning the Uxbridge by-election. Labour haven't won that seat within my lifetime. Even in 1997 they didn't win it. Seems bananas to view the result there as a failure. by secondkov (Mon 24th Jul 2023 10:35am)

  • Beer Cafe in Merchant Square has a massive beer selection but doesn't serve food. The Hall on Sauchiehall Street has a much smaller collection of beers but serves food, has quizzes, etc. The Smokin Fix (near Central Station) is pretty good too. by secondkov (Sat 30th Sep 2023 9:46pm)
