  • This happens a lot in the Forge Retail Carpark and the Coop carpark on Alexandra Parade. You even get some folk who clear out their cars of empty coffee cups, crisp packets and plastic bottles and just drive away. What's sad is that there's bins that's only a couple of steps away. by sgaken (Sun 17th Jul 2022 6:52pm)
  • There are a few clubs in Merchant City that are fine with an older demographic. If you're into rock music then the Cathouse tends to have a few folk over 30 on the first floor. But yeah, clubbing in Glasgow does sadly seem to be a young person's game. I'd say 18 to 25. Personally I believe you'd look out of place if you were over 26 in a place like The Garage filled with 18 year olds. by sgaken (Sun 31st Jul 2022 7:26am)
  • It's usually help from the bank of Mum & Dad, inheritance and/or both. No legal professional job since maybe the 90s has paid enough to enable people to save for a house. Salaries never caught on with how much house prices have risen. by sgaken (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 2:19pm)
  • DELETED Remember that there was some folk who don't focus/care about the actual house price and instead look to see if the monthly cost is manageable. It's crazy I know because effectivity they'll bepaying into a mortgage that they can't afford to completely pay off but nobody is in the mindset to completely pay off the houses with their crazy final prices. All they care about is the monthly costs. Once they get bored of the house they take their existing mortgage and move on to another property. This is how messed up the housing market is. by sgaken (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 2:23pm)

  • Yup. You'll definitely get more bang for your buck in the US. by sgaken (Fri 7th Oct 2022 11:32am)
  • Can't say for sure but just look at many items on Amazon UK and Amazon USA for comparison. Most of the time they just change the $ to £ and we all know the conversion rate isn't identical and the £ is garbage at the moment sooooo yeah, it's pretty obvious it'll be cheaper if you bought it in North America. Coupled with the VAT rate in US/Canada isn't as high as UK by sgaken (Fri 7th Oct 2022 3:02pm)
  • One thing to consider is that if you're buying tech here and then you're moving then you might have difficulty with warranty if it ends up being faulty. by sgaken (Fri 7th Oct 2022 3:00pm)

  • "All my kids I drill into them Work hard and eventually it will pay off". You're quite fortunate to be in a position where you can guarantee them a better life through inheritance so I guess it only makes you feel better to push the meritocracy lie knowing that they'll still a be ok financially when they discover that it is a lie. Working "hard" doesn't lead to it "paying off". It only leads to being exploited. by sgaken (Tue 11th Oct 2022 7:02am)
  • Decent place to find imported and rare stuff but most games are ridiculously overpriced by sgaken (Wed 30th Nov 2022 12:21pm)
  • Sorry to hear Shawarma King wasn't to your looking. My answer is Shawarma King or Hajar's Shawarma. Both equally good and proper with fresh proper traditional bread. Dunya towards the East End is passable but I find their chicken shawarma a little flat and not seasoned to my liking. The bread is really good though and still better than a chicken shawarma from a random takeaway. If you're looking for something alternative then try to chicken wrap at Bistro on Sauchiehall Street (Not the one on W Regent Street as that one is terrible). Their chicken is not traditional style but still very tasty. by sgaken (Thu 1st Dec 2022 12:10pm)
  • Uber used to be so good early to mid 2010s. Cheap and fast. Now it's always surging when you order a ride and you wait for 10 mins staring at your screen on "Matching you with a nearby driver" hoping that you don't get rejected by the 12th Uber driver. by sgaken (Thu 8th Dec 2022 3:10pm)

  • Hermes actually thought it was the right call to spend their budget on a rebrand instead of actually putting that money into improving their deliveries and customer service. Kinda sad that they think their customers are foolish enough to not realise what Evri was. Just shows how much they care about their customers. by sgaken (Wed 14th Dec 2022 8:09pm)

  • Go to a rock/metal bar like Rufus Solid Rock or Ivory Blacks and chances are you'll meet folk who will eventually end up at cathouse. If you want, just go to cathouse on your own. It's a friendly nightclub and you'll eventually meet and sing along your favourite tunes with others by sgaken (Sun 22nd Jan 2023 5:06pm)
  • University societies, sports clubs, hobby clubs will help you greatly. See what you're into and join the club and see how the people are. With the mutual interest you'll be able to interact and hopefully make connections by sgaken (Thu 26th Jan 2023 9:21am)
  • Can't stand folk who are rude and not nice to staff at bars and restaurant. Huge red flag for me if I'm meeting someone new who's like that. Comes off as entitled classist. by sgaken (Sat 28th Jan 2023 9:42am)
  • Don't know about that. Experienced plenty of occasions where customers were super rude and aggressive about the smallest things to staff. Even more so during a night out in bars and restaurants when folk have been drinking. Same type of people who litter on the streets and then respond with "I pay taxes to have my rubbish picked up". Entitlement is not exclusive to USA by sgaken (Sat 28th Jan 2023 9:52am)

  • If you work out and can manage Glasgow's many hills then you'll probably make money charing for rides with a rickshaw unless that requires tests and licenses. I also imagine that'll be quite an unforgettable experience especially if you do it on Friday and Saturday nights. by sgaken (Thu 2nd Feb 2023 2:12pm)

  • What's children got to do with this? Last I checked parents typically take their children to the bathroom to poop. The ones that don't have their kids taken away from them by child protection services. by sgaken (Thu 9th Feb 2023 10:00am)
  • Dogs are just not always that predictable either. That's why lots of dog owners should be carrying poop bags for them in their pockets. by sgaken (Thu 9th Feb 2023 11:04am)
  • Thought it was just me but even as a driver I'm starting to frequently notice a lot of reckless and dangerous driving. Dangerous parking as well by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:12am)
  • Funny how older folk who passed their test 30/40+ years ago are driving newer/more powerful cars and not required to be re-tested or even required to be checked to see if they're physically fit to drive (eye-sight etc.) by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:19am)
  • I see this happening way too many times. by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:16am)
  • Reset theory and practical tests every 5/10 years? No way will entitled 45 year old Karen driving a used Range Rover or entitled 67 year old retired John driving a used BMW convertible will tolerate that regardless of whether it'll help pedestrians and potentially save lives. They'll argue that they already passed their test once and that's that by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:25am)
  • Driving in the city is nothing amazing. Can't imagine how anyone would find enjoyment driving a fancy car and getting stuck in traffic, then spending 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, then leaving the fancy car hoping it doesn't get scratched or dented, then hoping you didn't get a parking ticket when I come back because you couldn't understand the rules to parking at that spot, then finally being stuck in traffic again and maybe hoping you didn't get a ticket for going down that "bus and taxis only" street. by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:33am)
  • That's pretty clever actually. by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 12:32pm)
  • That must've been a shocking experience. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through that. by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 6:26pm)
  • Arrived at a bus stop near Central Station last Friday at 12:10AM. Bus scheduled to 12.20AM according to that light notice display in the shelte. 6 people were waiting at the bus stop shelter. Everyone gives up waiting 12.50AM because no bus arrives. The display clears itself as if the bus came and left. There's a special place in hell waiting for the owners of FirstBus and their beyond terrible useless incompetent bus service. by sgaken (Fri 10th Feb 2023 6:47pm)
  • That's so wild. Cheers for sharing this. You have bus services in other cities around the world living in the current age with GPS tracking and an app meanwhile FirstBus give us a useless display that will never be accurate. by sgaken (Sat 11th Feb 2023 1:59pm)
  • Little Canteen on Finnieston was amazing when I tried it back before the pandemic. They may have changed owners now but check them out if they're still good. by sgaken (Sat 11th Feb 2023 2:10pm)
  • Can you please elaborate on this. by sgaken (Sun 12th Feb 2023 10:01am)
  • Yeah no. Just checked again and I don't think this is a feature on FirstBus bus services operating in Glasgow. Thanks anyway by sgaken (Sun 12th Feb 2023 12:15pm)
  • Charity help from a big corporation so they can feel ethically better about not ripping off the people of this city. Whatever makes you, your manager and your beloved CEO crook sleep better at night I suppose. by sgaken (Sun 12th Feb 2023 12:29pm)
  • And I don't appreciate you putting on a false pretense by claiming to "actually help" this city with the financial backing of an unethical representative. I once naively thought the way you did but then I grew up. Go help your boss raise their net worth and buy another yacht on the backs of the working class. by sgaken (Sun 12th Feb 2023 12:47pm)
  • I think that's what the dish is :) What are the places? by sgaken (Sat 27th May 2023 5:42pm)

  • Just double checked, it's not Japchae. The dish I'm referring to is red and spicy. Has sichuan peppers. Thanks for helping out though! by sgaken (Sat 27th May 2023 10:22pm)
