  • Had an absolute blast today in the City Chambers, my first visit! Not what I had pegged as representative of Glasgow’s culture and humbleness to be honest, bloody beautiful inside though. by sillysaltire (Sat 29th Feb 2020 12:46am)
  • I was just surprised there’s been a huge upgrade programme but no celebration of the finished goods yanno by sillysaltire (Wed 16th Dec 2020 12:54am)
  • The plan is quite simple - no trains by sillysaltire (Sun 24th Oct 2021 2:58pm)
  • You are conflating criticism from corporate sponsors of the UK Government, and Glasgow City Council. The sponsors were unhappy with the overall logistics and organisation of the conference https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/oct/17/cop26-corporate-sponsors-condemn-climate-summit-as-mismanaged by sillysaltire (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:33am)

  • Instead of reinventing the wheel, why not instead get involved with an existing campaign? The energy you’ll use to set all this up would be more efficiently used within an existing structure. https://www.getglasgowmoving.org/ would love to have you. by sillysaltire (Sun 30th Oct 2022 3:28pm)

  • Thank Thatcher for injecting her free market dogma into our public transport systems and destroying them for a generation. • They’ve been dire compared to European standards, in terms of fares, regularity and modernised fleets for decades. Covid and massive staff shortages also hasn’t helped by sillysaltire (Mon 7th Nov 2022 10:08pm)
  • It’s devolved currently yes, stupid UK policy decisions taken decades ago (on Scotland’s behalf) are still having a detrimental impact by sillysaltire (Tue 8th Nov 2022 12:12pm)
  • Yes I’m aware Transport is devolved NOW, back in the 1980s Thatcher’s Government cause huge damage to major sectors of Scottish economy which is taking decades to repair. The Scottish Government’s latest Transport Bill does give local governments the power to run municipal bus services, but given the second wave of austerity we’re about to face, it doesn’t look good for a Lothian Buses of the west by sillysaltire (Tue 8th Nov 2022 12:11pm)
  • Policy decision have long effects. If someone torched your house to the ground, should you get 100% of the grief from the neighbours if it’s not rebuilt quickly? by sillysaltire (Tue 8th Nov 2022 1:14pm)
  • The bus network is completely broken right across Scotland, Lothian Buses are an arms-length corporation owned by Edinburgh Council so their profit motive and strategic capacity is a bit more aligned with an integrated public transport network. But even Lothian buses aren't immune to the issues facing our bus networks - chronic underinvestment, low-pay, a tight labour market generally and delays at the DVLA has meant the recruitment and training processes to bring new drivers on stream hasn't kept pace with the outflow. by sillysaltire (Tue 8th Nov 2022 1:39pm)
  • Very nice shots, city looking good at night by sillysaltire (Sun 18th Dec 2022 9:28pm)
  • Had something since Monday, been in bed two days with it. Pounding headache, runny nose, sore throat from Monday is gone but little appetite. Occasional bouts of that awful scratchy-feeling on yir skin when you’re ill. Negative Covid LFT though by sillysaltire (Wed 21st Dec 2022 10:37am)

  • Who in your neighbourhood has been communicating with the Council? I suggest you, OP, personally reach out to your local Councillor to report this. Second and third-hand communication is absolutely wank for getting these things solved. Go straight to source if you want to see a result. Failing that, press. by sillysaltire (Tue 14th Feb 2023 1:03pm)
  • Aye he’s the mini-lasagne Tik Tok guy hahaha by sillysaltire (Sat 25th Feb 2023 5:30pm)
  • The video does mention how most of Glasgow was funded from slavery, a fair point about the subsequent unsustainability once empire collapsed but it’s a matter of prioritisation. Arguably the Bruce plan, satellite towns and M8 did most of the damage to the cities economic fabric. Many other ‘old world’ world cities fared economic change better than Glasgow anyway by sillysaltire (Sun 26th Feb 2023 2:53pm)
  • Nice! Looking forward to the future vids by sillysaltire (Tue 28th Feb 2023 8:08am)

  • I like the project as a whole, but I cannot get on board with the weathered steel look. It looks depressing and dreadful, from the layman's perspective it makes the bridge look old and not looked after properly. by sillysaltire (Wed 22nd Mar 2023 5:40pm)
